One million immigrants claiming benefits

1000 replies

AnxiousApocalypse · 16/07/2025 01:15

Just been reading the comments sections of the Daily Telegraph and Daily Mail articles about the one million foreigners claiming benefits in the UK. It feels like the final nail in the coffin and a lot of people will feel even more justified in expressing their anger and hate towards immigrants. What happens when Reform win the next general election and come into power? Will people be rounded up en masse and put in detention centres like the USA?

My doctor is a migrant, so is one of my close friends. The biggest issue in the current times are the illegal migrants (not legal) who are turning up on the shores in boats, most of whom are adult men.

It’s not illegal

I’m not sure how many times people have to say this

Yes. This is exactly my issue. GB News presenter, Patrick Christys did a report from Calais and some of the men were disrespectful little fuckers. We have enough dickhead men of our own. I've also seen the way these men stare at girls/women like they're a piece of meat.

What type of benefits? And what is meant by immigrants?

I just saw this headline from today's Telegraph, assume it is what the op is referring to: "More than 1m foreigners claim Universal Credit every month".

I presume this is what the op was referring to. It says 'foreigners', not 'immigrants'.

I couldn't read whole article without paying and I would not give money to the Torygraph.

They are illegal. They didn't enter the country via a legal route. They also didn't stop off at any number of safe countries that they could because as a country we're offering far too much and who is paying for it? Us tax payers. I never thought I'd vote for Reform, but the time has come.

See if this works.

This is interesting. So much for “different cultures”.

Most of the migrants receiving the benefits are EU nationals, comprising 770,379 of the claims.

I’m so fed up . It seems like British people are being squeezed more and more to pay for foreigners the majority don’t want here . The whole fabric of our society has changed .

I agree 100%.

Fucks me right off.

My husband has NO RECOURSE TO PUBLIC FUNDS stamped on his spousal visa that costs us thousands of pounds to renew each time.

The legal immigrants (and we, their families) pay through the fucking nose (including separate hefty NHS surcharges for health services that are too oversubscribed for him to have ever accessed).

And because of headlines like this we have people assume he is receiving this and that! Sometimes people think he is here for that purpose. Sometimes people he is working with at his 60hr a week job. Absolute fucking morons.

Came to say the same thing. The entry criteria for the UK is extremely tough and to claim any benefits as non British citizen is even tougher.
Anyone can search all this up, it is available on the uk homoffice website. If only Brits knew how hard and expensive it is to gain entry and a settled status to the UK they wouldn’t believe the rubbish the daily mail spouts that is clearly published to insight hatred.

AlertEagle · 16/07/2025 16:47

I think everyone whos working and paying tax has a right to claim benefit when needed but if they dont work regardless if they sre british or not they shouldnt get any benefits unless they are lawful citizens and cannot work due to a disability

Very convenient not to mention that the majority of these legal imigrants are also working and the applications skyrocketed during covid.

There are no legal routes. Arriving by small boat isn't illegal. There is no obligation under international law to seek asylum in the first safe country. You may not like these statements, but they are facts. And Reform doesn't have the power to change international law.

Exactly. I think there should be a period of maybe five years of solid working until an immigrant can claim benefits.

Plus the money illegals get, whether it be £8 or £48. They get three square meals a day and accommodation. What's this extra money for? A can of deodorant? We make it too peachy.

MiloMinderbinder925 · 16/07/2025 16:32

I don't believe you. Too many Reform supporters have tales straight from the Daily Mail about ME men looking at them sideways. The bigotry is in tarring everyone with the same brush and calling people from different cultures predators and rapists.

Strange how the frothers say nothing whatsoever about the UKs VAWAG crisis yet march against foreign men. Wasn't a Reform MP imprisoned for domestic abuse?

Sigh.

You actually make me sick. My 10 year old daughter now doesn’t feel safe to walk to and from school and I’ve had to change my working pattern to drive her there and back (as do many of the other parents) and yet ‘you don’t believe me’ because it doesn’t suit your narrative to think that any of these men could have anything other than pure intentions.
Jesus Christ.
Oh, and what are you talking about - marches against foreign men? Where? When?

These people throw their passports in the sea and lie about their nationality. I don't want insincere people in this country. We know nothing about them or their history.

Most do stop at another safe country after leaning their own country.

look at the figures for Pakistan and Turkey.

Only a small percentage end up here.

We also don’t know what illnesses they have.Tuberculosis has been on in the increase in the UK after decades of stagnant rates.

My biggest issue is that we are taking on people who arrive at the shores many of whom come from countries where women are treated terribly including stoning to death. This is not normal migration.

By invitation of the U.K. government poaching skilled workers from other countries.

How precisely can you tell someone's nationality from their name or face?

So why do they get to stay in between each claim for the right to remain? Claim turned down - why aren't they sent back?

You're correct it isn't all immigrants, however if you look at sexual crimes per 1000 people by nationality, you really cant argue with statistical facts. And i'm sure there are rage baiting stories invented, but many are also true sadly

The stories I've seen in the DM are of people feeling uncomfortable with asylum seekers in their vicinity.

You can argue with facts. Rape, sexual assault and domestic abuse are rarely reported. You're more likely to report a stranger than your spouse or colleague. In fact around 85% of sexual assault is carried out by someone the victim knows, half by a partner or ex.

Asylum seekers housing info

All of it costs money.

And UC stats.
www.gov.uk/government/statistics/universal-credit-statistics-29-april-2013-to-12-june-2025/universal-credit-statistics-29-april-2013-to-12-june-2025

The headline figure needs to be

  • there were 7.9 million people on Universal Credit in June 2025, up from 6.8 million people on Universal Credit in June 2024

The bit that should surprise you is this though:

The UK Home Office has added poets and bloggers to a temporary list of occupations facing shortages, making them eligible for skilled worker visas.

But you want to preserve your Celtic culture. You're a true indigenous. No forrin names for you, it makes you uncomfortable. All hail the true blood!

The Celts were migrants too but don't tell her that.
