As a flip side to the expensive letdowns thread , has anyone bought anything low cost that’s been good ?
I got a mascara in b and m that’s great on my long blonde but thin eyelashes.
And an ineos hand wash that is actually really nice.

This hair trap is the best Ive ever used. It catches longer hair really well and does not move about like other ones Ive used. Different sizes to customise to drain circumference.

Does the water drain away just as quick? I’ve tried a few now and always end up standing ankle deep in water when having a shower. I’ve thrown every one I’ve bought away.

I bought some plus sized skirts from SHEIN which I could not buy anywhere else, fully expecting to return them (returns are free), particularly because they cost only £5 to £8 each. They are made of gorgeous fabric and fit beautifully.

Edited

Can you link to the skirts? I went into town to buy a skirt from my local Yours and was horrified to find it has closed down, which makes my nearest plus size retail shop over twenty five miles away ( I don't drive)

Nail wraps from lily and fox Australia. Saving myself a fortune instead of gel nails as £1.99 a set. I can change them weekly as I get bored, designs I couldn't do with gel and kuch kinder to nail. Use them with Sally Hanson hards as nails as top coat.

These are so good, and so much better for my nails!

I have to remove the hairs every time I use it as I have thick long hair. The water kind of puddles when Im using it. But I dont need to use chemicals anymore to dissolve escaped hairs. Which used to happen with the other types 🤷‍♀️.

Can you post a link please? 😊 I'd like a water bottle for me and DDs that actually keeps drinks cold that I can easily carry around.

Our cheap Primark Stanley dupes are good at keeping drinks cold for ages but I am not carrying those things round wherever I go!

The water bottle I got is a ninja thirsti, got it from amazon its amazing, its been dropped several times and is still perfect!

Ohhh I love these threads!

I have a water flosser, a generic brand one costing about 20 pounds and I absolutely bloody love it. Bye bye bleeding gums and plaque below the gumline. Haven't needed to see a hygienist since I first got one 4 years ago, because my teeth are completely free from any build up. Worth every penny has saved me a fortune. The original one finally died last week and I ordered a new one immediately.

My "butt puncher", as it's called at our house. It's a deep tissue massager gun that I paid around 15 pounds for on Amazon and thought would be utter crap but oh.my.god. when I've got tight muscles in my back or glutes it's the absolute best thing ever. It's wicked and I can use it on myself so no more whining at my partner to rub my tight muscles. Leaves me feeling all floaty. A fraction of the cost of even one sports massage and can use it any time I feel I need it.

A new hair clip. It's way more sophisticated than my any old go to - the lazy ponytail, but still keeps my v long hair out of the way. I picked one in a soft matte brown and it matches my brown soft leather bag so I look oddly out together despite it only costing a couple of quid.

This might not be what youre looking for but I got a Bluetooth camera shutter button that pairs with my phone. I needed some pictures of myself for a profession thing but I tend to get really stiff and awkward when somebody points a camera at me. Managed to get some amazingly nice shots without hiring a photographer which saved money and they look better because I'm much more relaxed. Cost about £5. also great for group and family photos.

Pretty please could you link the butt puncher and water flosser! Thank you kindly 😄

I bought one years ago but never took it out of the box until today. I need to find an adaptor to use it.

Darkling1 · 14/07/2025 18:41

A sink caddy. So simple, but it keeps the area looking tidy. It was only a few quid.

I like the knock off lush rose shower gel from Lidl. I was dubious, but it smells pretty good for £2.

Yes, I’ve had this and really liked it. Lidl have a purple one too, which is a dupe of Lush’s Sleepy shower gel. I like both!

At the risk of being wildly low-brow and dragging the tone down... A rather excellent 15 quid vibrator from Temu👌🏻

I have really watery eyes and so mascara can be a challenge, I don’t get on with the waterproof kind and hate how the waterproof types wash off in minuscule bits that inevitably find their way into my eyeball. Found this mascara from amazon decided to give it an try and it’s been the best thing ever!! It builds really well, doesn’t run, doesn’t smudge and I don’t end up looking like a panda and is easy to wash off/remove.

I bought some bulldog clips that have been great for holding the bin bag in place so it doesn't slide down and has to be fished out, holding the laundry liner, closing the bag of rice... The possibilities are endless lol

You need to buy the Baco foil elasticated bin bags. Zero slippage. You're welcome x

Quick question about the Solar Buddy. Doesn't it just smear the sun cream onto your skin? Don't you still have to rub it into your skin so it's absorbed?

Hey sorry for the delay.

This is the butt puncher it seems to have got more expensive than a couple of months ago when I got mine but it's still under 20 quid.

My new water flosser is this one, as mentioned my old one failed with an internal leak after 4 years of service so I replaced with this one. I only got it last week and it's a different brand to my old one so can't vouch for it's longevity but it's just as good so far. They are quite powerful things, so it might be uncomfortable at first but it is really worth getting used to. Don't use cold water in them ever, it will make even relatively non sensitive teeth tingle, just use warm water. I sometimes add a drop of mouthwash as well.

The button thingy for camera was an eBay buy so were a bit cheaper on there, but these are the same thing.

I'm struggling to find the hair clip because I bought it in a shop!

I hope somebody finds these useful :)

Strangely I’ve bought exactly the same things as you recently!

This dress from Temu - £12, got it in white and navy because IT HAS POCKETS. Worn it twice and had multiple compliments each time, nobody ever comments on what I wear. Light and swishy, casual yet put together. Think I may have to order the other colours too. I live in a city and have been looking all summer for a similar dress with pockets on the high street and came up blank - closest was Nobody's Child stocked in my local M&S but they were too long, low cut and generally voluminous on my small frame. I've found that dresses from Temu/Shein fit my proportions really well and you can actually search 'with pockets' 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼 I'm 5ft 4 and can wear the dresses with flat sandals.

Friend had her car burst into flames a few days ago. A passer by got her out quickly so she had only minor injuries.

so I bought 6 x all purpose fire extinguishers from Amazon, half price at £9 each.

they are for me, daughter, grandson and son in law’s cars, and one for me at home.

hopefully never used but I feel we’re all safer

Can you please link to the fire extinguisher? Such a good idea.

Solar buddy by the way was the worse thing I ever bought . There's cheaper and better ones on Amazon. The company who runs solar buddy didn't care that I wasted £8 on a useless item. Just my 2p worth and don't get me on airup ..

oneplustwoplustwoplusone · 14/07/2025 21:30

@Butthechildrentheylovethebooks I thought I was an influencer for a moment! 😂

@Arramintathe solar buddy has a roller ball but then also a sponge around it so rubs it in too. It’s fab and DC who are 5 and 3 can do it themselves

Sorry I attached a photo but it hasn't been approved yet. Hopefully this link works https://share.temu.com/wDZT4UlT2QA I will say the material isn't exactly like the photo and it has a polyester lining but I survived 3 hours in 33 degrees at the school summer fair last week without getting particularly sweaty (no more than I would've in shorts and t shirt)

This is the description so search this if the link doesn't work: Elegant Light Blue Bohemian Maxi Dress with V-Neck and Ruffled Hem - Perfect for Spring/Summer, Casual to Formal Wear, Casual Summer Dress | Bohemian Style | Ruffled Hem Dress

Just had my carpet cleaned. Due to other half’s feet causing wear and tear, I had a few squares made from carpet offcuts originally but they still end up grimy.
He won’t take his shoes off.
Anyway, got some bobbly bath mats from Dunelm £4 each so I bought 5! Same colour as carpet and I can wash them.
The absolute joy.
