As a flip side to the expensive letdowns thread , has anyone bought anything low cost that’s been good ?
I got a mascara in b and m that’s great on my long blonde but thin eyelashes.
And an ineos hand wash that is actually really nice.

Not recently, but in 1986 and still going strong. Plastic bobbin bought in Nice for just a few french francs. Hangs round my neck and floats when I swim. Secure container for coins, banknotes and tickets/receipts and lets me leave cards at home or in hotel safe. Have known others who have had such things and they leaked from the start, but mine's been really good.

Imperial leather soap. Cleans face beautifully, allowing me to sidestep REN, Clinique etc.

Then, after washing, I apply my REN face mask followed by the new Clinique serum and Moisture Surge 😐

Have you heard that REN is closing at the end of July?! Sale on at the moment so may be worth stocking up on face mask. Sad times!

It’s 104.50 each, that’s pretty cheap for a robot vac.

I'm so sad that REN are closing down. I've used their products from when they first started out and always loved them.

I have wire fittings for the insides of traditional built in cupboards (to hang wine glasses, baskets that fit over shelves) that were really cheap and are massive space savers. Makes you really wonder about modern fitted kitchens where the cabinetry takes up more space than the belongings

Over glasses sunglasses, £17, so good I bought another pair.

Yes i got some recently - Bloombelle I think. Buy 1 get 1 free. Been really really useful. I can’t wear contact lenses much any more but now I can wear sunglasses yeahhhhh!

OttersAreMySpiritAnimal · 16/07/2025 11:20

Which robot vacs please @VehicleTracker77 ?
I wanted to buy couldn't decide which and will now wait for the next prime day, or just monitor the price.

An apple peeling thing. I love apples but hate the skin so it's perfect.

Also a big bag of regular fly swats

I have got one of these, its a devil to store but amazing

ILoveCatsAndKittens · 16/07/2025 15:38

Can I ask, the over glasses sunglasses, do they scratch?
My glasses are very expensive and would hate the lens to get scratched but can't wear contacts and don't wear sunglasses enough to justify prescription ones.

This pestle and mortar from Dunelm. Looks great on the worktop and spurs me on to try new recipes.

@OvernightBloats ,I have a similar one but it was Jamie Oliver I think in TKMaxx. It is so useful, and was less than £10.

UpMyself · 16/07/2025 16:04

Another useful gadget I have is a stick blender. I don't use it for many things, but it's great for knocking up some fresh hummus. Probably great for soup-making and pureeing baby food.

Good exercise for the arms as well! 🙂

I'm sorry, but this is genius. Dh puts dirty stuff in when it's clean and needs emptied.

@ssd

does he not have eyes?? Surely he can just see inside when he opens the door whether the stuff inside is clean or not? It’s not hard. I bet you never put dirty stuff in with clean.

Where do you store it? I have it on the counter beside the apples in the fruit bowl

I have got very little counter space so it has to sit in a cupboard.
