Mine is a cordless Dyson vacuum. Cost loads, has a poor battery, doesn’t pick up well, so overrated. Gets rave reviews - why?? My next one will be a Henry ;-) My other is overpriced, average pub/cafe grub when out as a family. Such a waste of time, money and effort. Sorry, I’m usually more upbeat…

Bed from dreams cost over £1000, 13 years ago, and was uncomfortable and the delivery guys refused to take it upstairs despite having paid to have it installed. They did eventually agree after I threatened to refuse the delivery if they left it downstairs.

Mattress was horrible so got it changed under their swap guarantee, next mattress was faulty so had to wait for a engineer to come out and prove it was faulty. Eventually got it replaced after 2 months only to find the replacement wasn't actually rectangular.

Never again.

Have just bought the Gatineau Miracle Eye serum - I still have bags and shadows, no miracles worked at all 😂

I agree with Gatineau. I bought a big bottle of their fake tan. Rubbish. Too subtle, can barely tell the difference.

Aliflowers · 13/07/2025 01:14

A shark vacuum. Utter shite. The body literally fell apart. Bought on sale on Amazon and luckily was within the warranty period so got a refund and bought a miele

Also the karcher window vac. Friend raved about it but just don’t get it. Windolene and a cloth do the job in half the time and twice as well

IridiumSky · 13/07/2025 01:19

A Bentley Continental.
Bloody thing keeps going wrong. It’s been one damned thing after another!

AnnoyedAsAllHeck · 13/07/2025 02:41

@Splcam

Never had an iPhone but a friend told me that her screen broke when it fell 20 cm off a handbag onto a fluffy carpet. Contrast my Samsung Galaxy which I accidentally threw out of the window from the 3rd floor of a mediaeval castle into a field of sheep and it was completely fine.

I would like to read a bit of backstory about how you "accidentally" threw your phone out of a castle where it then landed in a field of sheep.

Vodkamartini3olives · 13/07/2025 02:59

Birkenstock Boston clogs they cost me $200. They were uncomfortable but I love the style so I was willing to stick with them. We've just decamped to the lake for the summer and I forgot them. Picked up a pair of knock offs from Walmart. $20 and they are so comfy and look almost exactly the same.

Notmyrealname22 · 13/07/2025 03:00

Dyson air wrap. My thin hair still has flyaways and doesn’t look amazing. I barely use the actual wrap curl attachment. Would have been better off with a $200 straightening drying brush than a $750 Dyson air wrap.

Leighton Denny nail polish. It chipped so quickly on me. I'm aware of body chemistry and that some things just won't work for some people (not an expensive brand but Models Own nail polish never ever dried on me so I gave up trying to use it) but it was still annoying.

My dualit kettle was over £30 in 2022 and is still going strong. I'm glad I bought a nice one and not a cheap plastic one!

Caramelty · 13/07/2025 04:20

Ninja Air fryer, I loved it and used it a lot but it broke literally two weeks after the warranty ran out. Unable to mend it. Very upset and have bought a cheap one that has already lasted longer!

Jorgua · 13/07/2025 04:28

I adored my velvetiser. It did break. But I'd get another. I had a milk frother and the velvetiser was much better.

Samsung or LG maybe?

Fridgetaire, garbage walking. Nobody should ever buy a friditaire product ever. You might well take that money that bought and thrown it in the garbage. Maybe they’ve gotten better over the years but I doubt it.e

beachcitygirl · 13/07/2025 04:51

Love my velvetiser.
biggest regret - a Henry hoover. It’s unused whilst I love my shark cordless…
couldn’t make it up 🤣

Re karcher window vac, one of these saved me from despair last winter while waiting for single glazed windows to be upgraded. Made a fast and effective job at clearing copious amounts of condensation on a daily basis!

TheGrimSmile · 13/07/2025 05:48

Disagree. I thought they looked like a daft gimmick but I love mine and make lattes in it too.

Klozza · 13/07/2025 06:07

Anything Dyson, hoovers are awful, always found Shark way better. Same with the Airwrap, found the Shark FlexStyle much better.

I’ve seen a few people say they didn’t like their robot vacuums, but I have a Eufy X8 Pro and I LOVE IT, it’s honestly the best thing I’ve ever bought.

Theroadnottravelled · 13/07/2025 06:29

Vinvertebrate · 12/07/2025 23:48

Dyson Airwrap - Babyliss is better.

Someone once told me that Dyson is a brilliant marketing company attached to a duff manufacturer.

Thanks all - these are fascinating. 100% agree with the Dyson comment here.

Meaco air conditioner, we had a cheap air conditioner from Amazon, the Meaco are the more recommended branded ones, no difference, Meaco was around £400, cheaper Amazon one £200.

Moonnstars · 13/07/2025 06:30

Dyson hairdryer.
Only bought it recently as lots of people recommended it to me. First few times I thought it was better, but now it still seems just as slow drying as my old hairdryer.

I disagree with the velvetiser and air fryer though. Velvetiser I use every day in winter (though the expensive sachets from hotel Chocolat are over rated and don't taste that nice). Air fryer is also used frequently. Only things it's not used for are pizza and things that wouldn't be oven cooked anyway.

Magnir · 13/07/2025 06:36

I like the Dyson hair dryer but I have thick curly hair so don't use a normal hairdryer or it goes frizzy

Mumofsoontobe3 · 13/07/2025 06:43

I wouldn't say it's a waste of money as we use it a lot, but the duel air fryer. I paid well over the odds I think I paid around £160 for mine when there was a big hype, it popped up on the Amazon prime sale for £50. It's not a ninja one! I paid more for the hype than I did the product I think.

Am I doing something wrong then? I can't figure out which attachment I should use to have just stuck with the basic one. I have thick hair which is why people recommended it, but maybe I am expecting too much and am simply impatient with how long it takes to dry!

slet · 13/07/2025 06:45

My Dyson hairdryer has started to cut out faster like a minute every time I use it. I clean the filter regularly and it hasn’t made any difference. Absolutely infuriating. Before that I had a Parlux which lasted for years and was indestructible. It now takes forever to dry my fair with the Dyson as it stops and starts all the time and I have to wait for it to cool down before in works again. It’s making me angry just thinking about it!

Barney16 · 13/07/2025 06:48

Memory foam mattress. Probably the most rubbish thing I have ever bought. Partners side sank. He's a bit of a hefty chap but he ended up so much lower than me that I literally rolled down a small slope if ever shenanigans were on the cards.

Shark cordless vaccuum cleaner. They have a great reputation but I didn’t like it at all, it was constantly blocked, broke down. Awful. Got a Dyson to replace it and have had no issues with it.

Also found the same with the Shark one. It’s awful.

Probably not, if your hair isn't curly, For my hair which is shortish and curly, I have to use the big round thing. I used to use a cheap hairdryer which I bought a round thing off Amazon for about a fiver for but my hair didn't turn out as good as with the Dyson.
