I don’t know if it’s just me so need to know some opinions. I feel like the picture must’ve been taken in a different light as the dress is much darker than I thought it’d be. First picture is the one on vinted, second is what it actually looks like. AIBU to think that it doesn’t look like the picture as in the shade of blue is much darker irl? I really don’t like it as it’s a dark navy blue, I was expecting an electric blue but please tell me if IABU.

why are people saying it's different patterns? it isn't

vivainsomnia · 12/07/2025 15:52

Vinted picture colours are very off. Anything that looks red is more likely to be pink or orange, not a pinky shade of red but bright red! Blues are grey, as are purples. Black often dark blue. You need to go with the description and if it matters a lot, message for more detail.

Dawn884 · 12/07/2025 16:08

Looks completely different, she has probably used a filter. I would definitely contact sellar

Mrsknowitall · 12/07/2025 16:13

Same dress but obviously different lighting, she has her flash on where as you don’t

littlemousebigcheese · 12/07/2025 16:19

i don’t think there’s anything you can do unless she listed it as light blue and it’s arrived navy. It’s obv the same dress despite what people are saying?! Her lighting is just mad!

EmeraldShamrock000 · 12/07/2025 16:23

If it wasn't for the peach flowers, I'd say it was a different dress.

BusWankers · 12/07/2025 16:23

dollyblue01 · 12/07/2025 15:35

It’s a different pattern as well I wouldn’t accept that looks like a totally different dress to me.

.
No it's not Confused

It's clearly the same pattern, and I'd say it's the same dress as in the photo, the belt is the same, the belt loop same, pattern details in same place.... but lit very differently.

arcticpandas · 12/07/2025 16:26

I prefer the darker one so for me it would have been a welcome surprise. Sometimes this does happen when you take a photo but the seller should take another close up and mention it in the ad.

magicpant · 12/07/2025 16:29

Cannongoose · 12/07/2025 15:01

But it’s not the same - the electric blue one has birds - the darker one gas flowers..
Thd seller is taking the piss
edit - actually looked again - my eyesight needs to be tested! Sorry. I’d still say it’s not the same

Edited

Where are you seeing birds?

Cannongoose · 12/07/2025 16:44

@mondaytosunday
i realised there were no birds when I zoomed in 😬. I need my glasses back!

Thanksforyourlackofthought · 12/07/2025 16:56

I had this recently with a jumper. Looked red, said red, was coral. I said I was unhappy and they gave me a partial refund.

Saxendi · 12/07/2025 17:06

Honestly I would just say it’s not as described and send your photograph, was the background colour mentioned at all in the description?
Also probably depends on what you paid.

AccidentalPrawnYouFool · 12/07/2025 17:09

Just resell it on Vinted? How long do you think it takes? Literally 2 mins to list it then shove it in a locker or whatever postage you specify as you’re passing!

StickyProblem · 12/07/2025 17:26

That’s the sort of thing my phone would do - I posted a red top on Vinted and had to take a specific photo very quickly before the phone “helpfully” changed the colour on the photo. I put in the listing that the 5th photo or whatever shows the proper colour and also described the colour. I’d say you aren’t unreasonable to be fed up but I would say it’s probably just being careless on behalf of the seller, not a deliberate attempt to mislead you. You could sell it on (although of course you get what you paid the seller for but you’ve usually lost your Vinted fee and postage) or return it.

FeetLikeFlippers · 14/07/2025 20:46

It’s definitely the same dress - if you look at the belt the pattern of flowers is identical. They either used a filter to make it look brighter or just didn’t bother to adjust it (or mention it!) when the colour came out brighter in the photo. Either way, the colour is completely different so you’d absolutely be reasonable to return it. Send the seller the same photos you posted on here and tell them you’re returning it because you would never have bought it if you’d known it was dark blue. I can’t remember what the options are for returns on Vinted but make sure you choose a reason like “not as described” rather than just saying you don’t like it, because this was the seller’s mistake so you shouldn’t end up out of pocket for the original postage or the cost of returning it.

pearlchoker · 15/07/2025 07:57

It's the lighting that's at fault. I'd resell on Vinted. From personal experience it's a case of buyer beware on this site 😕

Different frock. Send it back .

The pattern in the first picture is smaller and closer. There are big gaps between the sprigs on the second one.

WickWood · 15/07/2025 08:47

Looks like a totally different dress to me!

Mumofoneandone · 15/07/2025 08:58

I had a dispute with vinted over item not as described - item was stained/marked but described as in excellent condition. Seller wouldn't engage and Vinted wouldn't get involved. Vinted found against me as I hadn't returned the item as I'd have to pay postage but I just did a recharge on the CC I paid with and was refunded that way!

Puppylucky · 15/07/2025 09:03

Agree that colours on Vinted can be well off. If I'm interested in something I will often Google search the image to see if I can find more info and the difference in colour Vs professional photos is staggering!

Cheeseplantandcrackers · 15/07/2025 09:05

It’s a lovely dress but I agree that the photo was misleading regarding the colour.

Aquestiontoponder · 15/07/2025 09:09

It definitely looks like the same dress to me, although the colour does look different. It's just how it's been photographed. I sell on Vinted, so photograph a lot and it can be really hard to get a true reflection of the colour.

Sassybooklover · 15/07/2025 09:33

The lighting/use of flash, in the first picture has made the colour much lighter. If the picture had been taken closer up, as you've done, the colour would have been darker; which is a better representation of the actual colour. Unfortunately, phones pick up colours differently. Did she describe the dress as simply 'blue'? Rather than stating the colour as 'navy-blue'. Every colour has varying shades, so she should have described the colour better. I like Vinted but I do find a lot of Sellers to be sloppy with descriptions and photo taking.
