Is Stephen Fry a repulsive, condescending misogynistic turd?

I realised on the first thread about lovely Stephen Fry, that I should have put an AIBU. I’m interested to know the wider view, beyond us sex realists on the FWR board.

YABU - No he’s lovely.

YANBU - Yes, he is at the very least, a misogynistic wanker.

He's a condescending, self indulgent prick and my opinion of him will never change now. He was good in his day, but his day was a very small window in time and he's long past that now. Some of his comments over the years have left me cold and I'm horrified that people on here are defending him and slagging off JKR!

Yes he is. He is also excellent at reading aloud and is excellent at taking religious people apart. Everyone has their talents.

Yes-champagne socialist is an insult. Used by people who are too thick to realise that you do not have to be poor to have good principles and instincts and understand what’s going on in the world.

I loved him when he was fawning all over JK. But my opinion turned when I discovered he said something discourteous 2 weeks ago!

He's a pig. I've thought so ever since I saw him in a debate about #metoo and he was yammering on and on about the damage to men's reputations.

I love JK. I think every woman and parent should be grateful to her.

His husband is 38 years old. Fry is 68. Meanwhile Patrick Stewart, for example, is 38 years older than his wife but nobody is up in arms about it.

Hmm, I mean I disagree with Stephen Fry and agree with JK Rowling on the gender thing.

But I get the impression he's giving his genuine view, rather than just bullshitting or avoiding the subject. And I think he's entitled to his view and I'm not sure it makes him a bad person. The same with the three young (ish) Harry Potter actors, I got the impression their views were genuine, even if I disagreed with them.

One of the most harmful things about the whole gender issue has been the "no debate" and silencing. So I'd rather people on both sides are allowed to talk about it. Sorry if that sounds a bit Pollyanna ish.

I do agree that as a rich successful gay man, he probably doesn't have much idea, or care much, about issues that affect females. Does that make him a misogynist? Not sure.
