To think children shouldn’t be naked at the beach?

Been at the beach most of the day and I can not believe how many small children are walking around completely naked. Is this still a thing?

OP posts:
Jamandtoastfortea · 09/07/2025 18:51

It’s nice for them to feel free. I sunbathe and sea swim topless when abroad and warm. We were in Germany recently and there was a lady swimming in the lake naked. Just do what suits you and harms no one.

Rather worrying that people on here are sexualising young children!

Who has done that? I can't see this in any of the posts here?

Meadowfinch · 09/07/2025 18:13

If the child is supervised, it isn't dangerous at all. No-one could get near my ds I was no more than 30cm away. How could he come to any harm?

You dont think people can take photos of your child from a distant and sell them to peadophiles

SisforSusanna · 09/07/2025 18:52

Nothing better than being naked in the sea. Let them be naked the few years they can.

Calmorchaos · 09/07/2025 18:53

Is sad that they can’t , but I agree. Naked children running around is just asking for trouble - you have absolutely no idea who the other people on the beach are and what they are thinking . Absolutely would not be allowing my children to run around naked .

MidnightPatrol · 09/07/2025 18:53

thischarmimgwoman · 09/07/2025 18:49

You can get plenty of sun exposure whilst wearing knickers and a vest.

I’m replying to a poster saying children need to be wearing rash vests / suits to protect them from UV, not saying they need to be completely naked to get some sun exposure.

The British children are always very obvious abroad - in their ankle to neck swim suits and hats. It’s from one extreme to another IMO (and I am guilty of it too…!)

It’s all part of the cool mum persona. People have such a sanitised view of the modern world and where these pictures can end up and in what form. I’d love to see the real reactions if the police knocked on their door to inform them images of their naked toddler were part of a wider investigation.

well it sounds like some of the parents on here wouldn't give a shit if peados were using their kids images.

Ymiryboo · 09/07/2025 18:55

The vast bast majority of SA happens within the home and with people known to the children. Children are snatched or abused by complete strangers in exceptionally rare cases due how to abuse works.

As long as you are talking to your children about consent in an age appropriate way and body autonomy I see no reason why they shouldn't be naked if they want and are appropriately protected from the sun.

I am much more concerned about the lack of sea and cliff/cave safety amongst society and the risks people take with their kids.

Nope, if someone is sad enough to snap my naked child, it's none of our business. Pathetic dicks. I will not curb our freedom out of fear. I say that as an abuse survivor with years of therapy behind me, by the way. I dare you to come at me.

I think those worried about image capture would be best to buy a few of these, given how skimpy and figure-hugging children's swimwear is, and how easy Photoshop manipulation is..

I think you have a very simplistic view of how predators think and behave.

And I’m amazed at the naivety of some people.

SerafinasGoose · 09/07/2025 19:04

fuzzyfeltfan · 09/07/2025 18:45

So its ok for the child's image to be used by some pervert to get off on as long as the child doesn't know.
Wow, are you on a fkin wind up.
The mind boggles.

I'm not sure where these apologists have come from on this site of late - or how they manage to home in on these threads like messenger pigeons within minutes of they're appearance - but they are there and becoming more common.

Witness the thread some weeks ago in which an OP was advised to allow her child to have contact with a father at her child's school, a paedophile, because he'd paid his dues and 'deserves a chance to rehabilitate'. With someone else's child as his stalking horse.

Fuck. That. And it wasn't just a rogue poster making that point, either. So - either this is an even more common phenomenon than I previously thought, or women - and mothers - will fall over themselves to facilitate men's sexual predilections and make every excuse for them in the book.

They're out there, and it's necessary that people here should know they are out there.

You dont speak for all abuse survivors. It absolutely is my business if anyone is taking photos of my child naked. My job as a parent is to protect them

ffs even your username is an anagram of peado!

Hedgehogshelp · 09/07/2025 19:05

10-20 years ago I would be fine - but there are so many openly perverse people these days I wouldn’t allow my child to be naked sadly

Dominoeffecter · 09/07/2025 19:06

YABVVU and a bit odd frankly 🤢

I’m guessing the posters shrugging have never been abused themselves.

Weird how they can’t see that they could attract the wrong person who could take photos or god forbid become obsessed. Stop being lazy and at least put pants on your child. If you don’t care about predators then at the very least it will stop them getting sand up their arse.

So only people who have being abused should think this is wrong? Weird perception.

I'll willingly come at you. I was also a victim of child abuse and was twice raped - I've written about this at length on this site. It's not a get out of jail free card.

I believe you are wrong, misguided, and that this is a dereliction of basic parenting. That the child doesn't know images of its genitalia are circulating on the dark web does not make this any less of a violation. It's only responsible to protect children from any risk of this eventuality.

The skimpy, sexualisation of children's clothes is a separate issue and also unconscionable.

I am quietly suspecting that some of them need their hard drives checked.

Sadly, it's a pattern on these threads.

I wasn't about to type this openly. It's impossible to be sure. But it's very, very interesting how quickly the 'apologists' home in to threads of this nature.
