To think children shouldn’t be naked at the beach?

Been at the beach most of the day and I can not believe how many small children are walking around completely naked. Is this still a thing?

It’s gross imo. I am very judgy about parents who do this, I think it’s just shows laziness and it’s not respectful of the child’s privacy. I never let mine be inappropriately dressed ( or not dressed as the case may be)

I wish I could say it’s fine for children to be at the beach naked, but unfortunately with the ease of cameras (being discreet on phones) nowadays, it could be quite dangerous for children to be naked on the beach if the wrong person were there.

If the child is supervised, it isn't dangerous at all. No-one could get near my ds I was no more than 30cm away. How could he come to any harm?

This again. Some people think it’s a non issue, some people think it’s akin to asking a convicted child sex offender to come to a kids birthday party. Never the twain shall agree.

Exactly. Personally, I’m in the former camp.

IAmNeverThePerson · 09/07/2025 18:13

Yea gods the thought of getting enough suncream on a toddler for that to fine has given me hives.

ghostyslovesheets · 09/07/2025 18:14

I would have loved to see you keep swimming gear on my middle child - she lived to be naked - home from school - naked, beach - naked - back from football - naked - hated clothes, still does but will wear the bare minimum now - aged 21!

Topseyt123 · 09/07/2025 18:15

I don't personally have a problem with it but would worry about potential predators taking sneaky photos from a distance (zooming in from far enough away that they might not be noticed).

So I would prefer to put them in a swimming costume and still regularly slathered in plenty of suncream. Sun hat a must too, and hopefully they will keep it on.

tumblingdowntherabbithole · 09/07/2025 18:15

Everyone talking about predators - you do realise that what your child is wearing makes absolutely no difference?

PeapodMcgee · 09/07/2025 18:15

In strong sunlight nobody should be baring expanses of flesh between 11-4, but apart from that, nothing wrong with innocent nakedness.

Impossible to police perverts from looking anyway.

LlynTegid · 09/07/2025 18:15

Sunburn risks are why not, any other reason is secondary.

Very young children are often more comfortable naked having bursts of time naked on the beach. The sand gets in their nappy and gets sore, the swimming costume stays wet and then the stand stick to them etc

Its gross that a young children playing on the beach makes you judgement.

Why not?

Oh fgs.

Yes, but I would feel that I was doing what I could if they were in a swimming costume while still allowing some freedom and fun.

There have always been predators, but it's more publicised and known about now.

I don’t care. It lacks class and is just a bit nasty and unnecessary.

Rather worrying that people on here are sexualising young children!

Rather worrying that we have people, including parents, who are so oblivious to the intentions and desires of many who walk among us. Protect your children ffs.

Gosh, a modern day Hyacinth Bucket 😂

youreactinglikeafunmum · 09/07/2025 18:18

Yanbu, I was surprised to still see it like 10 years ago

With the technology thats available for the evil, its a hard no from me.

Rainbow321 · 09/07/2025 18:18

I worked in a prison and sometimes in the vulnerable prisoners wing ( also houses paedophiles . )
I have heard one say their wasn't a child too young , and it was also found that they traded photos of their own children among themselves .
No I would never allow my children to be in a public place naked .

I will say though that the people i've seen do this were middle class 😭

What protection from predators do you think a swimming costume provides, exactly?

It’s perfectly fine to have standards. It’s a shame so many people these days have forgotten them.

It’s not “dangerous” in any physical sense.

Children burn very easily, I'd put mine in a top and sunhat

ThejoyofNC · 09/07/2025 18:20

We live in a society where people can't stop taking bloody pictures of everything. Why on earth would you risk your child being published on the internet, naked?

Mine used to do this until about 8 - would strip off in the car as soon as I picked her up from school 😂

No, but how would you feel if a predator took a photo of your naked young child on the beach and sent it round circles of other predators to view?

Saddos.

Still not a good enough reason to instil shame in a child.
