Loud Long Fart

Aibu to be livid over this encounter?

I was shopping today and as I passed a man he let out a very loud and very long fart right as I was level with him in the aisle. There’s no way it was accidental as it sounded very forced.

Makes me think that some men just hate women and do things like this to make them feel uncomfortable.

Some of the sceptics in here should google Le Petomane. I can well believe it's true OP. Some men (and occasionally some women) are just base.

Fart stories are never not funny. 😂 I cover my supermarket ones with a loud cough and hope I get away with it.

Really - i'm not pearl clutching, but how is farting funny? Its expelling shit particles. Thats really not funny in any situation?

Did it work? 🤣

Actually it did! Boys are gross 😂

WalkingWavy · 09/07/2025 19:26

I like to think I can see the funny side of most things but I would be repulsed by this. If he was genuinely stood close to OP then that’s just rude, he should have walked away

LBFseBrom · 09/07/2025 19:37

I fail to see what it has to do with disliking women. Women fart too you know.

Internaut · 09/07/2025 19:44

You took 20 seconds to walk past someone? How?

Did he follow through?

Yes he took her out to dinner afterwards.

dannyufcfan · 09/07/2025 19:53

You might appear on one of those youtube channels soon. Hope you had your make up on.

Sunshineismyfavourite · 09/07/2025 19:54

Would you have been so outraged if it had been a woman? How do you really know it was forced? The man could have a medical condition - poor guy!

My rather lovely late MIL who lived to be well into her 90s suffered with bad wind in her later years and would often fart with every step she took. Possibly could have lasted around 20 seconds. I can assure you, she didn't do it to make anyone feel uncomfortable - we were just glad she was deaf and never knew how audible it was! Bloody loved her 😍

katseyes7 · 09/07/2025 19:55

Years ago l worked with a lass who, at work (office) would fart with no embarrassment or concern whatsoever for her surroundings or anyone within earshot. They were rarely smelly, but usually fairly noisy.
Until she came back from holiday with her boyfriend.
They'd been looking in a shop window, and he remarked casually "It's a good thing you fart in your sleep, or l reckon you'd explode."
Apparently she restrained herself when she was with him, and held it in.
Until bedtime.
He still married her, though....

katseyes7 · 09/07/2025 19:56

At least he didn't try to light it....

I don't know how and where you fart and blimey how strong your farts are to make your shit particles penetrate through your knickers and outer clothing and escape! 😂

Pinepeak2434 · 09/07/2025 20:00

I once witnessed a man in Sainsbury’s plonk himself down on a crate of Heinz baked beans and proceed to vigorously scrub his backside across the tins like a desperate dog on carpet. To make matters worse he absolutely reeked, so I’m sure he’d shat himself too. I just walked past him and told him he was disgusting.

Mintyt · 09/07/2025 20:05

Now I have not read the thread, but as a very un windy person I was very shocked to squat down in Dunlem and passed wind. I came up slowly and carried on. I was mortifies but just apologised and laughed

ForestFox44 · 09/07/2025 20:08

It would have cracked me up tbh

Apparently not, according to far too many posters on Mumsnet. The land of the miracuously non-farting women.

Hopefully you will never develop Chron’s disease or similar and find out what it’s like to not be able to help it.

I was going to say this. I have Crohn’s and literally cannot stop a fart coming out. Sometimes I fight to hold it in but it’s so painful!

MolkosTeenageAngst · 09/07/2025 20:10

I was once sat on a train and a man stood up in the aisle and farted right when his bottom was in line with my face. I can’t believe he didn’t do it on purpose.

midlifeattheoasis · 09/07/2025 20:12

You sound quite mad OP. Do you really think men go about their day either holding in farts or farting to order as soon as they see a woman?

CallingDistance · 09/07/2025 20:12

I dont fart nor does my crush

ZamaZama · 09/07/2025 20:13

I’ve had men belch in my face before as they walk past, smirks and body language confirming that it was very much deliberate. So, while it’s impossible to say in this case, I can well believe it happens.

Did he look like he snapped then farted?

Dying laughing

I would have laughed!
