Loud Long Fart

Aibu to be livid over this encounter?

I was shopping today and as I passed a man he let out a very loud and very long fart right as I was level with him in the aisle. There’s no way it was accidental as it sounded very forced.

Makes me think that some men just hate women and do things like this to make them feel uncomfortable.

Never 20 seconds. DH can play a good bit of the Last Post, but I doubt it extends beyond 8 seconds. I'll time him when he does it again.

I know someone who’s had a colostomy and he can’t help it, has no control or warning. I always like to think the best about people and would assume it’s that 😁

You've reminded me of the time I was in the checkout queue at Waitrose with DD, who was around 3. There was an older lady in front of us who was about to pay and she let out a short, but noisy, one. DD turned to me and, at the top of her voice said "mummy, that lady just farted!" Blush
Maybe the lady just hated children Grin

Eeeew my ex used to do this. He was so surprised when I got rid of him. And yes, men do do this as an insult towards women.

Not always deliberate….
I was shocked (and maybe slightly proud) to do an uncontrolled 20 second one, at Premier Inn Gatwick North, all the way in the lift from lower ground to the 10th floor - completely uncontrolled.

Similarly in the forward WC on a TUI aircraft - only to find the Captain beaming broadly at me as he waited to go in after me…

Well, tbf, op had to stand there for the entirety so that she could accurately time the fart. She couldn’t possibly have walked away because how else could she accurately complain about.

For a really long, loud fart, it's most likely that it was an unfortunate sphincter fail after trying to supress it.

I think there are far more important things to worry about at the moment than some random person farting next to you in the supermarket. It could have been accidental or yes it could have been deliberate. If it was deliberate all you could have done is to have ignored it and not given him the reaction he was hoping for.
