I'll go first - nothing being crispy and no texture, so slop on a plate.

As per the screen shot below, I feel like the order of the thread titles on the ‘trending’ page kind of answers this for us!

Dogs in the restaurant.

Thindog · 09/07/2025 18:45

Fresh coriander, tastes of soap.

VikingLady · 09/07/2025 18:46

A dirty fork.

The presence of someone else’s uncontrolled kids.

Greg Wallace.

Gregg, please. Two g's. It's very important.

Dil. Even the most minute amount of dil makes everything taste of dill, and it tastes fucking horrible!

I like to be able to taste the individual flavours of the food I’m eating!

Your first word made me think you were talking about your daughter in law. I suspected you didn't get on.

Coriander

Bones in fish

aRightNowProblem · 09/07/2025 18:51

Grisley or grey meat
coriander or aniseed

RubberyChicken · 09/07/2025 18:52

The bill

FurForksSake · 09/07/2025 18:53

bit of bone / cartilage in boneless chicken thighs. I try and check them but sometimes you miss the odd tiny piece. Sets my teeth on edge.

MidnightPatrol · 09/07/2025 18:56

I have been to dinners once or twice where we run out of wine.

Terrible.

Wafflefinder · 09/07/2025 18:58

Avocado on everything on a breakfast/brunch menu

Thejackrussellsrule · 09/07/2025 19:04

Too much salt.

Children's tantrums

100%. My OWN children’s tantrums and carry on while I just try to shovel food in my mouth. Going thru an absolute hell stage with both of mine atm x

Canijustsayonething · 09/07/2025 19:06

Coriander is vile. I always ask for my curry without fresh coriander and many a time its been sent back because they chuck a bucket of coriander on the dish 🙄

Tepid food. Its has to be roasting hot.

Olives 🤢

Fruit in savoury dishes...pineapple on pizza is a crime. Raisins etc in coleslaw 🤮

Anotherheatwave · 09/07/2025 19:10

Red peppers chopped up small and mixed in with the meal eg rice or salad. I hate red pepper and have to pick all the bits out.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 09/07/2025 19:12

butter - cannot even look at it melting over vegetables or on bread or toast
if it is hidden and the flavour is masked then I can cope

MadKittenWoman · 09/07/2025 19:19

Not enough wine.

AdaColeman · 09/07/2025 19:31

Coriander, tastes like shampoo.
Cold plates used for hot food.
Chorizo in everything, even with fish!

If in a more fussy mood, the wrong type of glasses being used for drinks.

As an aside....Those tubes and arteries in liver etc, I think there's a name for that....trypophobia.

k1233 · 09/07/2025 19:34

Really surprised at all the people who don't like fresh mint. I hate with a passion the fake mint flavour in toothpaste and lollies but I love fresh mint in salads and cooking.

I don't like the taste of salt so find most added salt to be too much.

Overcooked, soggy vegetables. Green veges are cooked when they turn bright green, not when they reach the disintegrate on your fork, khaki stage.

Soup with lumps in it. Neither my sister nor I can eat lumpy soup.

Sauce - there can never be enough sauce / gravy (provided it's nice of course)

ballroompink · 09/07/2025 19:44

Tubes/gristle/rubbery bits in meat. Absolutely vile.

Raw onion in salad. I can just about put up with it but DH hates it and is hugely suspicious of salads/pasta salads/cous cous etc. when eating out or at someone's house so he just won't eat any of it.

A chocolate dessert/pudding that is bland/not rich enough. Feels like such a waste 🤣

Jane958 · 09/07/2025 19:44

Anything deep-fried
Anything over or under cooked
Dishes that sound delicious until you see 1 rogue ingredient that just does not belong there
Calorie counts beside the dishes completely put me off eating

comeandhaveteawithme · 09/07/2025 19:53

Dinner out?

My daughter. I love her to bits, she's amazing, but she also has ADHD and cannot sit still for more than 3 fucking seconds and I absolutely cannot enjoy a dinner with her there because I am constantly stressed, trying to keep her entertained and hissing at her to please will you just sit down and eat your dinner.
I hate hate hate it when MIL arranges a nice family dinner out for some special occasion. Looking round the table I can see most of us are not enjoying ourselves. The teenagers are bored, the toddlers and my daughter will not sit still, half the kids don't like the food, but still she insists on dinners out for things and we all dutifully and begrudgingly go. Why, I don't know.
Basically, dinners out are only enjoyable with adults friends and family only.

Dinner in?

mushrooms

Kimwestonhelpless · 09/07/2025 19:55

Too much salt being added beforehand.

shopsk · 09/07/2025 19:57

When we eat out my mum ‘saves herself’ for dinner. Meaning she’s ravenous when we eat. She’s not shovelling it in or anything like that, but it’s very much eaten up without conversation and the whole meal out is over in about 40 minutes. Ruins it for me. Wish she’d just have a light lunch and we could have a relaxed enjoyable dinner. She eats out at least twice a week so it’s not like a treat thing, maybe a calorie thing - god knows.
