I'll go first - nothing being crispy and no texture, so slop on a plate.

Too much salt

Coriander, hate it. I love mint though.
Non crispy and unsmoked bacon - give me crispy and smoky please.

Oh yes you have reminded me….unsmoked bacon is vile.

Really surprised at all the people who don't like fresh mint. I hate with a passion the fake mint flavour in toothpaste and lollies but I love fresh mint in salads and cooking.

I don't like the taste of salt so find most added salt to be too much.

Overcooked, soggy vegetables. Green veges are cooked when they turn bright green, not when they reach the disintegrate on your fork, khaki stage.

Soup with lumps in it. Neither my sister nor I can eat lumpy soup.

Sauce - there can never be enough sauce / gravy (provided it's nice of course)

I’m a fresh mint hater but if it helps then it applies to fake mint too. I’ve still never found any of the apparently nice fruity toothpastes local to me and really don’t want to start buying toothpaste online so I end up just gagging horribly every time I brush my teeth and tbh it’s probably contributed to some of my dental issues through my life. I also don’t see much difference between mouthwash and a mojito. Both are minty grossness.

Badly cooked, so soggy pasta and rice, overcooked chewy meat, burnt things.

People with bad table manners and the audacity to lean over to try to steal something from my plate. The last time that my brother did that, my fork slipped and stabbed him (with force) in the hand. He hasn't done it since.

The quality of pork has deteriorated an awful lot in recent years in my opinion, other than pork fillet which is usually tender most of the roasts of pork are next to impossible to cook nicely. I have given up on supermarket/butcher stuff and buy direct from a farm maybe twice a year due to cost but it's lovely stuff, more like we had years ago!

Yes it is just horrible now I used to do roasts and pulled pork now i just don't bother, dh will have a pork steak occasionally but I've been put off

Elsvieta · 09/07/2025 22:29

Pepper. Why do the people who like it feel entitled to inflict it on the rest of us? Why can't they just leave the shaker on the table and let people who want it put it on themselves? I mean, the smell of it on the table isn't great (see also: mint sauce), but I accept there's no escaping that.

Old people tutting about you not "warming the plates". I mean, I loved my granny but I'm not ready to turn into her just yet.

Mine would be food being too crispy and veg hard so I can’t chew it - my favourite foods
are mash potato, fish pie and risotto - so,
slop on a plate 🤣

Love coriander !

EvilDJ · 09/07/2025 23:04

When picky eaters moan about not liking this and that. I’m quite fussy about some foods but I just make the best of it and eat what I can without announcing it to everyone.

Random, unexpected foods for example eggs in a fish pie, sweetcorn on a roast dinner, peppers in a lasagne, mushrooms in anything.

Floppy barely cooked bacon, particularly when people pull all the fat off it with their fingers 🤢

Uneven cutlery, I hate the feeling of it.

Eating any meal with BIL as he has the worst manners, eats like Homer Simpson and is greedy. When we went to a chinese restaurant he was spinning the lazy susan like it was the wheel of fortune and picking all the meat out of every dish.
