To ask what gives you the rage that probably shouldn't

For me it's when I'm sleeping in, maybe at the weekend or if I've worked a late shift and I hear cars going past in the morning around 8am and they are blasting music. It gives me a desire to want to slap them. I know they are well within their rights to do so, and therefore I am being unreasonable but I am just convinced they are annoying people inside 🤣 I'm not a morning person. Obviously.

Or coughing. Can’t stand it.

when I think about it… even others breathing can send me into a rage 🤣

I used to work with a repetitive sniffer. Never known rage like it.

People who start a conversation with 'y'all right'-why wouldn't I be all right, has my face gone green or something?

Coat hangers are badly designed! I need some different ones , but it’s a faff rearranging the wardrobe and they are not cheap to buy anymore either so I stick with the not so good ones. All my own fault, but it annoys me.

@the80sweregreatthey have a pack of 50
velvet hangers on Tik tok for a great price I can’t remember exactly but the same ones were 3 for £8 in b and m . Just a thought 😁

When you have parked your car well away from other cars and some idiot decides to park alongside you. I was usually doing my makeup before going to meet friends for a meal. This was when I was working and had time to kill so went to a local shopping centre and then did my makeup in car.

I am with you on this. Why, just why? I often park near the back of the car park, furthest from the shops. It's because I don't like having to squeeze in through a half open door especially if it's wet. There can be loads of closer, more desirable spaces and yet some buffoon comes and parks right next to me. Grrrrr...

When I let someone go and they don’t give me a courtesy wave. In a car.

Gosh I thought I was the only one who colour coordinates the pegs or who trys to use the same colour pegs on a garment

It's just so important that the crows & robins who see your clothes line can notice that your pegs & clothes are perfectly colour co- ordinated .... I mean you're not 'for the birds ' for thinking like this .... yeah right!! ;)

When DH leaves the house for work then rings me about 20 minutes later .... before launching into why he rang, he'll ask how I am ... you saw me 20 minutes ago, I was fine then, I'm fine now. What do you want?

God I just read that back and I sound awful 😃

No you don't. Dh will ring me and I will say hi and he answers with I'm OK or similar. I only said hi I didn't ask how you were. All.the.time.

When meetings descend into long discussions of issues that only affect a few of the attendees. Yes I know you need to discuss your issue while you're all in a room together but the rest of us are sat here wasting our time. Organise your own meeting!!

YES!

I used to attend regular meetings where the last 40 minutes of each meeting were given over to individuals discussing an issue that only affected them personally with the SLT member in the meeting, whilst the rest of us weren't allowed to leave in case we had any input. We never did have any input (because it didn't affect us and it was always something very specific). It gave me the rage and so many times I wanted to throw my notebook at them and storm out. I didn't, but I look back and think of the hundreds of hours they wasted this way.

We also had people coming in now and then from other organisations so the first 10 minutes was always going round the room giving introductions to one person you would never see again! Didn't occur to SLT just to introduce the new person.

I actually think only 20 minutes of the meetings were actually worth knowing about and that could've been an email too.

People using the term “my partner”. Fucking hate it….don't know why!

When half the self check out tills are out of service during busy shopping periods

Add to that, 3 of the store’s employees are having a chat while you wait in line for the much reduced in number, working, self service tills as the queues for the manned tills are out the door with shoppers and their very full, large trollies.
But I suppose this thread is about things that give you the rage but shouldn’t and what you posted @TheTwitcher11and I added to is a legitimate rage inducer 😀

NaiveDuck · 28/07/2025 07:34

As an introvert, this meme sums up what gives me the rage (especially when bumping into people you know or went to school with in the shops, and you're socially awkward like me) :

To ask what gives you the rage that probably shouldn't
Enko · 28/07/2025 07:41

For me its cars driving/turning in front of pedestrians who are travelling in a straight line. Then they get shouty/horn beeping at pedestrian. I have once or twice yelled "I HAVE RIGHT OF WAY!"

Its not hard and frankly you should be aware of the pedestrians.

Also cyclists who thinks red lights/zebra crossings doesnt apply to them.

GulliaumeDuc · 28/07/2025 08:14

People parking directly outside my house. I don’t need the space, I have a driveway. It’s a public road, so they’re acting perfectly legally. No one is blocking me in, so no issue with that. But still really, really annoys me.

i park outside other people’s houses without a second thought, so I’m also a hypocrite.

I’m prepared to get flamed but my irritation comes from pensioners being in supermarkets during peak times. You are retired, stop contributing to busy times for those of us who work and are scarce for time.

OMG yes!
I think there should be a law that requires pensioners to be banned at peak times. They can only shop then if urgent and accompanied by a working person.

I am retired 😎.

So so many of these rages are my rages. Especially those parking beside me in an empty car park. I move and glare at the drivers if I can.

Thankyou for the validation!

It's been going on for 10+ years so I've had plenty of time to examine why it bothers me. I think it's partly the unfairness, but mostly I think I'm annoyed at how dim and imperceptive they are. She leaves empty Amazon boxes with her name on them outside. How silly do you have to be to relentlessly assume they're mine?! 🤦

Why on earth do you do it?? Sorry but you are making a fool of yourself and you are making a rod for your own back. Let the selfish bitch sort out her own garbage! The reason she doesn't sort it is because doesn't have to. You do it for her. So why would she bother? You're rewarding her for her bad and selfish behaviour. She is being rewarded for it. FFS, just stop it!

People eating fried chicken on the bus.

People eating ANY smelly fast food on any public transport. Too often they’re the types who leave their smelly, greasy wrappings behind, too. And their drinks bottles rolling around the floor.

Twinkylightsg · 28/07/2025 11:11

People trying to get in on trains or buses before people get out.

People standing in entrances having chats. Why stop at the entrance?

Gagamama2 · 28/07/2025 11:12

My kids bickering. It’s non bloody stop. If one is having a good day and not being a dick to the others then the others can be relied upon to still be getting on each others nerves, there is never a moment when all three of them are being calm civilised pleasant human beings. I tolerate….tolerate…tolerate…redirect…distract….tolerate…then I can’t handle it anymore and shout at them. The rage cannot be contained. Esp now it’s summer holidays and they follow me around the house.

People who tell you important news in chronological order rather than a summary of the most important things followed by the detail.
For example, when my sister was in hospital I did not need to know how the accident happened. Just tell me how she is and fill in the story later.

This drives me nuts too as well as people tell you a long story with every single detail along with asides. Just get to the point.

BigAnne · 22/07/2025 07:37

People who show you lengthy videos of their grandchildren.

I have a friend who does this and also most of her conversation revolves around her grandchildren. I don’t mind the occasional story or update but it is all the time. I have no interest in whether little Lucy is so bright and clever or Duncan is so cute and he ate his first ice cream yesterday. My friendship with her is dwindling as I write this as she doesn’t have anything else to talk about.

baloobs · 28/07/2025 11:23

People who don't use headphones on the bus whilst watching videos! Arghhhh!!!
