Yes I know it’s a huge deal and what happened was awful but ffs it’s on the news everytime I turn it on. Yes it was absolutely big news at the time but do we really need to keep hearing about it daily for so long? It only affects those involved, surely? Just give us an update when the inquiry is finished!

wow, you’re a bit of a dick aren’t you op?? Thank god it didn’t affect you, thank god one of your loved ones didn’t kill themselves over this. Thank god you didn’t lose your house etc! What a disgusting thread. There’s an off button on your tv, I suggest you use it

HermioneWeasley · 08/07/2025 16:26

I’m sick of hearing about it because an appropriate amount of compensation should have been paid years ago and the matter should be settled so these poor people can get on with their lives.

giving them each £1m would be less than the paper clips for the civil service. The public are behind them getting properly compensated, just get on with it.

DragonTrainor · 08/07/2025 16:28

I don't hear about it that often. If you're clicking into the articles maybe that's why they're coming up more

feathermucker · 08/07/2025 19:12

Surprise, surprise! OP appears to have done a vanishing act.

Whatwouldnanado · 08/07/2025 19:14

Head wobble needed. Educate yourself about what exactly happened and have a bit of compassion.

XenoBitch · 08/07/2025 19:15

We keep hearing about because it is not over. Heard today that a further 13 people were driven to suicide over it.

I am sure that if you had a relative who was being gaslit to the point they ended up in court, and killing themselves... you would not want it kept quiet. Especially when the same was happening to others up and down the country.

PennyAnnLane · 08/07/2025 19:36

It affects us all, the state was able to imprison people and steal their life savings based on lies. It could happen to any of us, it’s an absolute disgrace it ever happened at all and that it has been allowed to drag on for so long.

Zzzmumzzz · 08/07/2025 19:46

Many have died already without seeing justice. Its criminal it is being dragged on. Government are acting appallingly. Keep the injustice in the spotlight and support those who have been treated so badly. Mr Bates is a hero

LlynTegid · 08/07/2025 19:47

I will be happy to hear no more of it once those who should face criminal charges have faced justice, and if guilty, a long prison sentence.

Same as I would be happy to hear no more of Grenfell once those responsible are behind bars, or when Boris Johnson, Matt Hancock and several others are in prison for their inaction over Covid in 2020.

IHopeYouStepOnALegPiece · 08/07/2025 20:02

Imagine so brazenly telling the world “I’m a twat”

PassingStranger · 08/07/2025 20:58

Yabu and it's an awful post.
Just think yourself lucky you weren't involved.
Do you have no compassion?People went to prison, people died.

Thelostjewels · 08/07/2025 21:01

Yes we do. It's potentially the biggest scandal along with blood of our time.
People have died ,commited suicide ,family cut them off and entire lives ruined. Because of the most stupid thing. Pig headed reliance on a computer system without questioning if it could be wrong. It shouldn't go away until Fujitsu and the government bloody well compensate these people and families.

Fujitsu is still making money out of us ??

SumUp · 08/07/2025 21:36

On Victoria Darbyshire’s social media - 92 year old Betty Brown has endured 25 years on the breadline and STILL hasn’t received 100% of the compensation owed to her.

prh47bridge · 08/07/2025 23:42

I have been following this story since 2008. I have signed up to Nick Wallis' secret emails so that I keep in touch with developments. I will be happy to hear about it every day until the victims are properly compensated.

For those interested, you can see the report that was released today at Post Office Horizon IT Inquiry Final Report Volume 1.pdf. The stories of some of the victims are set out in paragraphs 3.46 to 3.222. Some of these I already knew about, some are new to me. They are all awful. It beggars belief that people in Post Office ruined so many innocent lives.

Coffeeishot · 09/07/2025 08:31

There is past postmaster on.bbc breakfast now talking about the report , I hope the op isnt watching might send them over the edge !

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 09/07/2025 08:39

Is that you Paula.

Comtesse · 09/07/2025 08:51

It’s not just the impact on the sub post office owners, bad as it was.

It says very important things about how we put our unthinking trust in what computers tell us, how software outsourcing sucks, how corporate governance can go so badly wrong, and how giving the power to prosecute without appropriate oversight is dangerous.

Think about the power we are unwittingly giving to AI - “oh well the software says it’s wrong so that must be true”. But on an even bigger scale, the ultimate black box that no one understands, with algorithms that rewrite themselves. GULP. There is a reason that so much of the initial reporting was done by the IT trade press - it’s a massive technology story.

There are posters on the National Alert thread who are saying. Dont be so silly nothing will go wrong its not a software update despite the post office scandal and despite the fact the alert stopped some phones from working last time. Ive just been gaslighted and told it didnt happen. Something like this WILL happen again because people are so brainwashed and in thrall to their bloody computers
