To be sick of hearing about the post office scandal?

Yes I know it’s a huge deal and what happened was awful but ffs it’s on the news everytime I turn it on. Yes it was absolutely big news at the time but do we really need to keep hearing about it daily for so long? It only affects those involved, surely? Just give us an update when the inquiry is finished!

Until the postmasters and postmistresses are paid the compensation that they are owed then this has to be brought up again and again. It’s been known for a very long time that they weren’t at fault yet have they even received a sincere apology from someone in power? 13 suicides and over 700 victims. Appalling

TulipCat · 08/07/2025 14:34

As a general life hack, OP, if you don't want to know about a particular news item you don't have to open it/you can turn your TV off. It isn't compulsory to consume news stories.

ladymalfoy45 · 08/07/2025 14:35

Posting from Australia?
You might be bored with it ,but the pupils in my form (Y9) are furious with the PO scandal.

ComeTheMoment · 08/07/2025 14:38

I think it needs to be kept in the public eye. If it isn’t, the can will be kicked down the road from here to Kingdom Come. Like with the HIV blood scandal.

MurdoMunro · 08/07/2025 14:40

@Owt is gone. Opened the door, shouted her opinion into the room and left us to it. Suitably chastened and laying low? Or was this just rage/engagement bait?

We may never know.

But solidarity to the post office workers and their families. I feel powerless to help in any way other than to say that I have listened to you and to those who did this to you. I’m glad to have heard, am continuing to hear. I hope that justice is served for you and against those ghouls who still try to squirm away from what they did.

edited for weird formatting

Jesus christ. Have you heard of empathy before? Perhaps you should remove this thread

why did you start this thread exactly?

TheFormidableMrsC · 08/07/2025 14:42

What a fucking awful post. Particularly after today’s news. You should be ashamed. Just switch over.

dimsiaradcymraeg · 08/07/2025 14:42

Do you actually understand what happened, Op. There is a reason it is rightly front and centre of the news. You should be aware of the facts and be as equally horrified by the coverup and lack of justice for every single person and their family directly affected.

myheadsjustmush · 08/07/2025 14:46

Jesus wept......is this thread for real?! 😡

This is a typical "I'm alright Jack, so I don't want to hear about this post office sh!t." comment.

No one can even begin to imagine what these poor people went through - and the effect it still has on them, and their families, all these years later. Yes, it was big news at the time - but for the (now known) wrong reasons. Now the truth is out and the tables are turned firmly on those responsible for this debacle, then it rightly should be in the daily news.

It breaks my heart to see grown men cry because of what they had to endure, women cry because a family member took their own life, or to hear of those that passed away before the truth came out.

If you don't like it OP, there are other channels you can watch - just switch over and thank your lucky stars you weren't one of the victims in all of this. 😡😡

FFS 🙄

spoonbillstretford · 08/07/2025 14:47

Don't watch the news then.

xYerDaSellsAvon · 08/07/2025 14:53

It only affects those involved, surely?

Does it aye?

ruffler45 · 08/07/2025 14:53

If it was a relative or someone you knew who had committed suicide would you feel the same?

Luckyingame · 08/07/2025 15:10

I'm sure the wrongly accused postmasters are sick of it too.
🙄

TheAutumnCrow · 08/07/2025 15:11

I think MNHQ should delete rage engagement bait.

Leaving shit like this OP up, on a day when 13 suicides have been reported to be associated with the post office scandal, really should be beneath it.

Muffsies · 08/07/2025 15:16

Its the biggest scandal in modern UK history. Over 200 people were wrongly sent to jail by the state. Millions in taxpayers money has been taken by the people responsible for this. And yet.. no one has been charged, or prosecuted, gone to prison for their for their involvement or cover-up in it.

I hope it doesn't 'go away' until we all get justice.

VirginaGirl · 08/07/2025 15:19

I haven’t seen anything about it in the news recently.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 08/07/2025 15:19

There was a lot of coverage when the story broke - and rightly so - and also when the enquiry was happening - also rightly so - but I watch the news almost every day, @Owt, and have seen pretty much nothing about it in recent weeks, so I think YABVU, I’m afraid.

ConcernedOfClapham · 08/07/2025 15:23

Stop watching the news 🤷‍♂️

I was surprised you feel ‘it’s everywhere’, because I haven’t heard anything about it in a while. But then, I stopped watching the news some time ago (and feel immensely calmer for it). The things I need to know about, I learn through word-of-mouth.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 08/07/2025 15:29

I’m watching Wimbledon instead of the news at the moment, @ConcernedOfClapham - and you are right - I feel much better for it.

Lioncub2020 · 08/07/2025 15:40

It should be everywhere - it was a massive scandal. People went to prison because of the IT issue.

mumda · 08/07/2025 15:54

Is this another Labour party BOT working out how long they can drag this appalling scandal out?

This is a scandal that swallowed another scandal and still no nearer sorting things out properly. NOW.

unsync · 08/07/2025 16:16

Until the victims, or their families for those that died, get properly compensated and the people at PO and Fujitsu who are responsible for what happened are prosecuted and jailed, I would be happy for it to be on the TV every single day.

It's an absolute disgrace, and the fact that it hasn't been sorted out yet is disgusting and those responsible should be hung out to dry.

tsmainsqueeze · 08/07/2025 16:18

Tell that to the families who had members who took their own life over it.

Coffeeishot · 08/07/2025 16:18
