Ordered mounjaro, right or wrong?

rightorwrong25 · 06/07/2025 03:09

Evening/morning, Apologies im posting here for traffic

Ive just ordered mounjaro, currently waiting for my photos to be "accepted"

Always said I wouldn't, that I'd just be able to lock in and be fine.. 'i've done it before' but its been a couple of years and im just miserable.

Tried the first website that came up and I wasn't considered at all, so the next site I added an extra 7lbs. Which is most probably true, even at kindest! Not weighed myself since I outgrew a size 12 which I swore to myself I never would again.

I've just heard so many success stories from using it, I do feel its gonna be a quick fix!? Ive flicked through threads and articles and had friends experiences but id like to hopefully chat with someone now about it.

Im currently-
50% just get it done its stupid to wait til you get even fatter
50% dont take it, not worth it, just try harder to cut back/move more,
(even though you've already tried that and its just not working currently, mainly because I feel too fat and lumpy to move)

Just need some unbiased level heads please MNers!

You should ask for this to be moved to the weight loss injections section- AIBU can sometimes be a bit snippy about WLI.

I’ve been on it since May last year (with a long break last year when a friend of mine died and I gave up looking after myself). It’s not a quick fix- it helps you restrict calories, but the first injection works very differently on everyone and you might not lose anything for a while. If/when you come off it you have to maintain the same habits to keep the weight off, same as any diet.

I’d really recommend the WLI forums on here, lots more specific information and support.

BitOutOfPractice · 06/07/2025 03:41

How much do you have to lose op. Never had WLI but totally don’t judge. Have you listened to the Mel Robins podcast about it? It completely changed how I felt about WLI and it’s such a positive listen.

That aside, from reading your op I’d say: don’t be so hard on yourself. Treat yourself like you’d treat your best friend, kindly and with love.

Good luck I hope it works a treat for you.

rightorwrong25 · 06/07/2025 04:07

Thank you both, I really needed you right now!

I didnt want to put it in WLS because I thought it may be bias in favour of them maybe. I just needed someone to chat to through this totally wacky thing I feel like I've just done 😂 I am comfortable between 10-11st, 10 being my ideal and 11 being when id usually start sorting myself out. Im probably coming towards 13st now. I am quite tall which does help, others doesn't seem to notice my weight gains/loses but i sure do lol

Thanks again for chatting with me about it

Are you actually obese?

rightorwrong25 · 06/07/2025 04:16

My BMI is higher end of overweight but not obese, I just feel like if I dont do something now I will end up obese. Im usually good with this i dont know what's up with me

OP posts:
blunderdul · 06/07/2025 04:19

I mean you are going to have to weigh yourself you can’t just make it up.

sweetpickle2 · 06/07/2025 04:20

If your BMI isn’t at least 30 (or 27 with co-morbidities) you won’t get approved. Unless you lie, but you shouldn’t do this as it’s unsafe- and suppliers are cracking down on this.

rightorwrong25 · 06/07/2025 04:28

Blunderdul, I know!! Ive definitely done this on a whim, having a wobble! I went off last weighed weight plus 7lbs, which I thought was being kind. I haven't took it seriously at all which is why I think I came here, either to get talked down or talked in I guess!
Im glad they dont approve and ship out straight away because I feel like im already maybe changing my mind
Im not 30 BMI so probably won't be accepted anyway as PP have said.
One pharmacy wouldn't progress at all and another said to send in photos to be reviewed

OP posts:
LittleNoosh · 06/07/2025 07:26

I think they have to ask for photos or a video now. Unless you have other medical conditions you won’t get accepted if your BMI is under 30.
For what it’s worth it’s not always the quick fix people think it is. I’ve worked my way up to 7.5mg and have only very minimal effects other than side effects for a day after each injection. I’m not saying you’d be the same but it sounds like you might need to do more research.

Supima · 06/07/2025 07:32

Why on earth don’t you just weigh yourself? It takes seconds. You don’t even know what your BMI is.

SaidItIsTheGoldenYears · 06/07/2025 07:34

You need to weigh yourself. It's a powerful medication for treatment of obesity. You need a clear-eyed picture of your health first. I was also in denial and didn't want to see what the number was, but I did it. It's not just an injection and then the weight melts off. You have to address your diet and exercise routines as well. Basically, you need to take it seriously and that includes being honest with yourself and the prescriber.

SunshineDeLaSoul · 06/07/2025 07:35

You’ll need to send photos or a video depending who you used

Zanatdy · 06/07/2025 07:36

I know people on it who i’d say are in a normal weight category, it’s obviously easy to get if you know those kind of people (this person is daughter of a friend and does hang around with some questionable people). I’d just be very wary because of the pancreatitis risk. My life has been ruined by pancreatitis, caused by gallstone gone rogue for me. It’s life threatening and can cause lifelong problems. You’d be better calorie counting.

OddBoots · 06/07/2025 07:43

Our relationships with our weights can be a real brain mess at times so be kind to yourself, but you can't just guess a weight for this, these medications are a game changer but they come with risks and the science says the risks are only worth it if your body size and how your body manages that brings even bigger risks.

Step on a scale and find out what you actually weigh and make a decision about if you cancel the order when you have the facts about your own situation. Many pharmacies now need a video call with you to see you step on the scale anyway so you are saving yourself stress later if you do this now.

maddening · 06/07/2025 07:49

When did you last weigh yourself as you seem to have suggested you have guesstimated?

SaidItIsTheGoldenYears · 06/07/2025 07:52

Also, OP, if you have actually underestimated your weight then you won't know if the medication is working if you start taking it. You need to enter your weight every time you reorder, plus send progress photos periodically - and online pharmacies are introducing video calls where you have to step on the scales to prove your weight. You can't keep guessing at your weight throughout the process.

Doodlebug79 · 06/07/2025 07:54

I think it's ridiculous when people take MJ for just losing a couple of stone.
MJ can have sone serious side effects and it's not a medication to fuck with just because you're a bit overweight.
Adding 7 pounds just because tou can't be bothered to weigh yourself is really irresponsible.
You might get more positive responses/more validating responses on the weight loss injection page!

Sprogonthetyne · 06/07/2025 08:06

Absolutely no judgement for wanting to use WLI, but it sounds really dangerous to just be making up your weight. For the medical staff to accurately assess if this medication is safe and appropriate for you, you need to give them honest and accurate information.

I understand the wish no to weigh yourself while dieting, but I think you need to reconsider when it's for medical purposes. If you were getting surgery and they needed a weight to work out anaesthetic dose, would you allow that? You need to think of providing a weight to prescribing Dr in the same way.

toughtimestoday · 06/07/2025 08:08

I have been on the injection since last August. I’ve lost over 4 stone. I am very grateful to it but I had spent a lifetime dieting and failing and was close to morbid obesity. I’m very short and need to sustain a low calorie count due to a lifetime of dieting which is impossible for me long term without meds.

First thing first please weigh yourself. If you lie to get the meds then any support you may need is compromised from the outset. It’s also reported to your GP who may choose to follow up.

its worth asking do you crave food constantly when trying to be good? I know some who have used it expecting a quick fix and lost nothing - I suspect because they weren’t missing the chemical in the first place - they just had drifted a bit and never really dieted it isn’t an easy fix long term although is fantastic short term. In reality most people will need to stay on the medication very long term. The underlying issues don’t go away and are still there when coming off. Some argue that the hunger levels coming off are insane.

All that said if you feel that you’ve tried everything and failed repeatedly and are in the obese category then it has more pluses than minuses and I don’t regret it for a second.

shrumps · 06/07/2025 08:13

I did exactly what you have done and five weeks later I’m down 14lb. It’s not magic - I’ve calorie controlled and exercised hard too but the lack of hunger has made it very easy. I know want to lose another 5/7lb and then I’ll come off it and maintain. Like you, I was around a stone and a half overweight which put me at the high end of overweight for BMI and was frustrated by losing and gaining the same 2/3lb each week. The mounjaro has just given me the help to get it off and I feel so much better. Of course there are risks but for me it’s done what I wanted it to do.

selkieselkie · 06/07/2025 08:16

Have you looked into the side effects, OP? In rare cases, pancreatitis can be fatal. It's not a risk I would take for a couple of stone. The fact that you haven't even weighed yourself suggests you aren't really serious about this. By your own admission, you are just looking for a quick fix. I do understand the temptation but you need to be prepared for the long haul, even with the injections.

ExplodingCarrots · 06/07/2025 08:24

I've been on MJ and I've lost 5 stone and got half a stone to target . I was in obese range at the start . Online pharmacies are cracking down on verification and supplying and rightly so . I have to do weight verifications with my supplier and regular photos . Lying is dangerous . It's not an 'easy fix' . I see it as a helping hand . I still have to go to the gym and eat a healthy diet . The jab won't make you exercise , that's still comes down to your willpower . I completely get that it's hard to lose weight on your own . But if you're under a bmi of 30 it's not for you and it would be foolish to lie because you'll get found out with new rules coming in .

RhaenysRocks · 06/07/2025 08:26

OP the people on the WLI threads / boards are not mindlessly screaming "yes!!! Everyone should do it". I'm on a long running support thread and it's full of caution about dosing correctly, getting side effects checked out, not using dodgy suppliers etc. You'd be much much better off on there. That said, don't lie or guess your weight. All MJ does is take away the hunger pangs making it easier not to over eat. It doesn't melt away or evaporate fat. If you are borderline on BMI then I'd suggest other methods first
