Do Teddies have kids who struggle academically?

Hello All,

Just seeing if any current parents can tell me if the vast majority of kids at Teddies thrive academically. I have heard this from current parents and students.

My teddy is called Constance, she is very caring but not especially bright, I don't care as I value her kind nature

The OP has a duplicate thread in Boarding schools - I checked out of curiosity. I expect that will be the serious one.

I thought this thread was serious ?

Good point.

Most of our little teds have just graduated. That's because we were quite strict as parents and didn't allow them to go gallivanting on picnics in the woods on school nights. However one is a bear of very small brain and long words bother him. Another has some behavioural issues because of a serious marmalade sandwich addiction.

It’s ok. She says she was registered female over 50 years ago at the toy shop.

PHEW.

She is fabulous!

Soft furry things that love picnics.

Wasn’t that Yogi Bear?

They struggle academically but they do throw a mean picnic.

😂😂😂

"Another has some behavioural issues because of a serious marmalade sandwich addiction."

Could explain a lot about some of the people whose DM had the same problem.

Damnit MN, bring back that laughing reaction!😂

I had to pull my teddies out of private school given the VAT on school fees. I can’t bear the thought of sending them to the local comp with all the road bears, but no choice unfortunately.

Years ago it had the reputation of being for rich kids who weren't academic enough to get into MCS.
I'd bear that in mind.

I see what you did there.

TheHillsIsLonely · 03/07/2025 19:49

VAT = Very Academic Teddies

@MagdaLenor

#FreePinkPauline is a very worthwhile campaign. I shall join you forthwith.

Smarter than the average bear. I wonder if he went to private school?

MrsKypp · 03/07/2025 19:52

I don't know about academic ability, but they seem well behaved in school assembly.

Oh no — that’s un-bear-able news! I’m sure your little cubs will grin and bear it, but I totally get the panda-monium this must be causing at home. Still, I’m sure they’ll hibernate into the new place just fine — and who knows, they might even find a few koala-ty friends among the road bears. Stay pawsitive! 🐾

RichardOsmanTheSecond · 03/07/2025 19:53

Would the teddy bear like to join in with this song?

It actually took over a year to identify where it was coming from because it was sporadic and most residents would only catch bits if the wind was right. I cant find it but there is a video of someone in their home with it and it is very, very unsettling.

(BBC link and the BBC video is a spider).

Most rich kids, then.

QuaintPanda · 03/07/2025 19:56

Our cuddly toys are mostly hedgehogs and go to night school. One retired before he was school age as he’d been loved to bits. Another, a bully, was enrolled at Smeltings. He had had to leave the night school for setting fire to a bad report and burning the building down.

It does not appear to be so.

Amazing ratio of teachers to pupils! Just two in the class.

Not much technology available at the school though.

Mansionscoldandgrey · 03/07/2025 19:59

My Teddy loves Shakesbear. His favourite play is King Bear

miniaturepixieonacid · 03/07/2025 20:00

Teddies is great for all rounders. Excellent Drama and Dance, strong Sport and Music, slightly academically selective but not hugely so.

None of the children who have gone there from the prep where I teach struggle academically. But they're not all academic high flyers either. Solid, hardworking, relatively clever kids with a talent for Sport and/or the Arts mainly.
