Does anyone else hate the feeling of a fan blowing air on them?

Inspired by another thread. I hate the sensation of air blowing on me. I feel like I'm alone in this though? I don't live in southern England, where I understand it's so been so hot that maybe the relief of having air moved around is worth the discomfort. But I just don't like the sensation at all.

You are not alone - hate office fans and always adjust the car air vents so they don't blow in my face.

PluckyBamboo · 30/06/2025 00:23

Me, I like air moving around but not blasting straight at me.

TomatoSandwiches · 30/06/2025 00:25

I reckon I could fall asleep in one of those skydive training air vents at the moment so long as it was cool air.

Gabitule · 30/06/2025 00:27

Same here, I hate it, I feel it instantly dries my skin and lips

Pinkfluffypencilcase · 30/06/2025 00:31

Me as well.

I hate the air con/ fans in the car blowing on me. Or the air con at work.

notanothersummercold · 30/06/2025 00:33

Yep wake up so thirsty

purpleme12 · 30/06/2025 00:35

It fine apart from at night.
Always turn the fan off before i go to sleep. Can't be dealing with that

Lifestooshort71 · 30/06/2025 01:16

Yes, me. I can't think or relax with that noise going on but it's so hot where we are... the fan is on in the bedroom out of necessity, I've had a couple of hrs sleep and now lying in the dark on the sofa for an hr or so - hopefully I'll get so tired that I can face going back to bed!

Kimwestonhelpless · 30/06/2025 01:32

Ok if I've a t-shirt on if not it kinda tickles my skin making me itchy

MsNevermore · 30/06/2025 01:35

Literally my point on the other thread - I hate it.
We live in a very hot climate, so we have A/C but we also have ceiling fans.
Our A/C is always set at 79°F, which is honestly a bit too cold for me when it’s 103°F outside. Feels like a fridge. And then DH insists on having the ceiling fans on as well 🤨 So I spend most of my time in the house wearing sweatpants, hoodies and under blankets because I can’t bear the feeling of the cold air blowing on my skin.

UpLateDoomScrolling · 30/06/2025 02:12

This is definitely a thing for some people. My DH is one of them, and it leads to a bit of bickering, as he always wants to turn the AC off in the car, even when it's sweltering.

He's decided the very small fan I have had going in our bedroom this weekend is "giving him a headache", but he conceded that he is being u to expect me to go fan-less in a heatwave, so he's escaped to the sofa until we get normal temperatures again.

coxesorangepippin · 30/06/2025 02:13

I hate a ceiling fan

HerRoyalNotness · 30/06/2025 02:15

We have ceiling fans and I hate them. They dry my eyes out and hate the feeling on my face. Switch them off whenever H leaves the room

Nothankyov · 30/06/2025 02:16

I love the sound of a fan, blow dryer or dehumidifier. Perfect to fall asleep!

BethBynnag86 · 30/06/2025 02:17

I can't bear a fan near my face either,I find the air blowing directly onto me very unsettling .

BeanQuisine · 30/06/2025 02:37

I don't mind the air hitting my face, but if on for too long it does give me sinus problems. Presumably because there's a greater volume of airborne dust entering my sinuses when the fan is on my face.

fount · 30/06/2025 02:39

I wouldn't sleep well at all without a fan in the summer.

I'm pleased I'm not alone in this! It's the sensation on my skin, I just don't like it. I like air conditioning, but not fans.

I hate having air blowing on me & really don’t like it when air con blows on me when I’m walking into a shop. I don’t like fans either.

SorrowsPrayers · 30/06/2025 05:30

I hate it! I always direct the car blowers away from me. If I have to have a fan on I make sure it is moving away from me. Oddly I think it hurts if it blows on me for too long.

GripGetter · 30/06/2025 05:35

I can't stand it.

Optimustime · 30/06/2025 05:36

I can tolerate a paper hand fan but in hate the sensation of an electronic fan. Worst of all are rotating fans. It's like being in a video game and having to wait to try and avoid the waft every 10 seconds.

I'm in the south east. Looks like it'll be mid 30s today but I refuse to use a fan.

Ivyy · 30/06/2025 07:42

Yes I find it painful on my skin if it’s not on a v low setting, need it to oscillate as well as I can’t bear the feeling of the air flow directed straight at me; I do have sensory issues being ND though so all sorts of things feel uncomfortable or unbearable to me

Wolmando · 30/06/2025 07:44

I have a Dyson one as it doesn't seem as blowy, I have it oscillating and it is a gentle waft.

theunbreakablecleopatrajones · 30/06/2025 07:44

I love it

I look forward to the breeze coming back on the rotating fan. It reminds me a bit of sea breezes, tragic though this is
