Do you actually like your hairdresser?

Not just “they’re good at their job”, I mean do you genuinely enjoy the experience of going, the vibe, the conversation (or lack of it), the whole thing? Or do you stick with them out of habit, fear of the awkward “I’m seeing someone else” break-up or because finding a new one is such a pain? Curious if I’m the only one who’s still going to the same person out of sheer inertia…

Yeah, she’s lovely. She could talk the hind-legs off a donkey though 😀

Leapintothelightning · 29/06/2025 22:32

Love my hairdresser!

NuffSaidSam · 29/06/2025 22:33

I love mine. She's actually not that brilliant at cutting hair, but I go because she's lovely, very reasonably priced and I've got long hair that's mostly tied back so the slightly uneven cut doesn't matter too much!

AndImBrit · 29/06/2025 22:34

She’s nice enough, but I probably feel the same about her as I do the last who works on the Aldi checkout - we have a transactional relationship.

Withdjsns · 29/06/2025 22:39

I love mine; I’d like her to be my friend tbh. I’ve found that I need to like my hair dresser if I’m going to spend hours with them getting highlights otherwise its just awkward

catchyoubysurprise · 29/06/2025 22:40

Absolutely adore my hairdresser - she’s been cutting my hair since I was 7. I love it when she comes over and we get a good old gossip session, she’s almost part of my family now, was invited to my wedding/my Mum’s 60th etc - also helps that she’s FANTASTIC at her job

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 29/06/2025 22:41

Yes, she's lovely. Known her 18 years.

ilovesooty · 29/06/2025 22:43

Yes very much. I've been going to her for over 40 years.

Astrak · 29/06/2025 22:44

My hairdresser is lovely. She listens to what I ask her to do, and then cuts my hair really well. The price is good, and I always give her a tip.

CatRoleplayTycoon · 29/06/2025 22:45

Mine is an interesting woman, with whom I get on well, but I still hate getting my hair done. I hate being touched.

CantThinkOfAUsername57 · 29/06/2025 22:45

Yes - I will specifically only go to hairdressers who I enjoy chatting with. No way I could sit there making small talk or in awkward silence for 3 hours!

Itwasallyellow2 · 29/06/2025 22:49

Nice people I am sure but I would actually pay to go to a quiet hairdressing salon where, apart from the initial conversation about hair style I can be silent in a quiet place. I talk all day in my job and would value a peaceful salon - a spa-like place.

pizzaHeart · 29/06/2025 22:50

Yes, she is good hairdresser and I like her as a person. Her days are not actually convenient for me anymore but I stick to her as I like her.

DramaAlpaca · 29/06/2025 22:57

Yes, she's great.

JustFeedMeCake · 29/06/2025 23:01

I love her BUT she’s moved salons and I hate the new salon. I’m still seeing her but I don’t like it there at all. Sadly she’s really happy there 🤣

mrsfollowill · 29/06/2025 23:03

Love mine- she knows all my family and is so good at cutting hair and a brilliant colourist- instinctively knows what suits someone. I had and itchy scalp and she recommended a good shampoo which has cured it. Very interesting person and makes out appointments fun- it like having a friend round for 3 hrs and the time flies by!

EveryDayisFriday · 29/06/2025 23:05

I go every 3 weeks, she's great. Way too chatty but does me an amazing rate and is a genuinely lovely.

Scottishdreams1991 · 29/06/2025 23:08

No she looked utterly disgusted when I told her I never wear make up. Made be feel like a ugly troll under a bridge

Denimrules · 29/06/2025 23:11

She's fabulous and I'm simultaneously delighted about her new baby and sad she won't be available for my next highlights

Oh wow, my DH goes every 3 weeks to his designer hair salon. Can I still tease him ☺️

Cynic17 · 29/06/2025 23:16

I don't particularly like going to the hairdresser, because it just feels like a waste of 2 hours.
I hate the mind-numbing chat and gossip I overhear in the salon - I think I'm just too old for most of it 😂 And, whilst I want my hair to look OK, I can't connect with most of the clients in there who seem to be obsessed with how they look, and have dreary conversations about beauty treatments, clothes, reality TV etc etc.
My actual hairdresser is very competent, and I think she has learnt that I don't do chit chat, but I can't imagine us ever being friends because we just have so little in common.

TaggieO · 29/06/2025 23:19

She is without a doubt the coolest person I know.

Amybelle88 · 29/06/2025 23:20

Absolutely can’t stand getting my hair done and I tell my hairdresser the same. Love her though and I also tell her that 😂

CluelessAboutBiology · 29/06/2025 23:20

Yes, my hairdresser is great. I’ve been going to her for about 25 years - more than half her life. I really look forward to seeing her for a chat not just to have my hair done.

Waitingfordoggo · 29/06/2025 23:21

I like mine, she is a very sweet woman, much younger than me and quite a different character but she’s very warm towards her colleagues and clients and has a pleasant way about her. I only go twice a year so am usually there for about four hours for full colour and cut etc. She understands that I do like a bit of chat but also like some silence and will also at some point have a picnic and a nap 😂
