Silly little conspiracies you believe in

Not serious ones like Diana was murdered etc, but silly little ones.

For example,

when it comes to wipes in a packet, I’m positive they rig it so more than one wipe comes out at a time. Then they make the sticky reseal not as sticky so they dry out quicker meaning you have to go and buy more instead of using what you’ve got

Fabric softener smell doesn't last as long encouraging you to buy scent boosters.

didgeridid · 26/06/2025 17:34

Wipes - get on shein ( I know, I know) and get a wipe bag. It's like a think plastic you put them in and pull them out through a plastic closer 👌🏻 they are much better than my description
I'm another for phones, smart speakers etc listening to you. Have a random conversation then you are seeing ads for it

Katemax82 · 26/06/2025 17:38

That "hack" where you fill out a customer service questionnaire using a code on your McDonald's receipt and get cheap food, the last few times I've done it and tried to redeem the cheap food voucher it says "its already been used"
So i think its just a ploy to get you to fill out the questionnaire

My husband thinks once you become a glasses wearer your eyesight rapidly declines...

When you're on the motorway and the traffic suddenly slows down and bunches up for no apparent reason, this is because you're travelling through a patch of Slow Time. Otherwise known as Eddies in the Space Time Continuum.

Fact.

Marmite27 · 26/06/2025 17:41

Catherine, Princess of Wales only had one wedding dress. There was a lace overlay for the church ceremony with the train that was removed for the evening reception and she added a sparkly belt and fluffy cardigan. That’s why there’s no ‘second dress’ to exhibit.

Mummy Pig and Daddy Pig having a third baby in Peppa Pig is covert government propaganda to boost the birthrate in the UK

Mummy pig copied me cos I had a surprise pregnancy just before her

😁

The bods in the control room play silly buggers with signage when they're bored....that's why you don't see a stranded vehicle or congestion when they say you should.....though they could have been swallowed up by a stray black hole.

tbf they also mess around with the speed restrictions whilst watching the camera and going 'bwa ha ha' and stroking pedigree, white cats.

Please know that this train of thought will be part of my mindset forevermore. 🤯

That there is a place where all the lost socks go.

Seriously I live alone. So where to all the fucking socks go ? I never have a pair. Always old socks. They just vanish.

I have a theory about lost socks - I think that elves steal them and turn them into random tupperware lids that don’t fit any of the tubs in your cupboard!

They turn into wire coat hangers.

Some airlines deliberately skew ETAs to make themselves look like they're always on time.

On second thoughts, that's a fact & not a theory.

Definitely think 'big-purse' uses a lot of pressure to ensure women's clothes have either non or useless pockets to make sure they keep buying handbags and purses. Not sure of the logistics but definitely makes sense.

We’ve always said that! Gives me rage as I hate carrying a bag and just want decent real pockets in my jeans!

Apparently we're surrounded by teeny, tiny, black holes, they're going there.

That is a perfectly reasonably explanation…except why only one sock ? Why never both ?

Jean8 · 26/06/2025 18:05

Some of these will probably be explained by cognitive biases. Eg the rain on the school run one is down to negativity bias and then confirmation bias when we believe this to be true, that it does always rain at an inconvenient time.

It’s certainly got my niece nagging for a baby! And why on Earth did this news make Good Morning Britain?! Mummy Pig was interviewed FFS.

Crushed23 · 26/06/2025 18:11

Toothpaste adverts show twice as much toothpaste on a toothbrush as you actually need.

quantumbutterfly · 26/06/2025 17:21

.... random conversations in front of your phone changes the adverts it targets you with.......👂

That isn't a conspiracy theory though, it has been openly admitted and proven that that is what smart devices are doing.

“We are having a higher call volume than normal. Please hold. Your call is important to us”

Yeah yeah yeah. You ALWAYS say there is a higher call volume

How do you know if you've never called at a quiet time?

What I can’t seem to understand is how on Earth my new book is now in my suggestions on Amazon. I haven’t bought books on there for ages and then they tended to be a different genre to this recent one. I also haven’t spoken about these books as my husband doesn’t really read and certainly not about this topic! Weird…

The fact that you never get lids on pots of cream or yoghurt anymore, just the peel back foil, meaning it's harder to keep them for more than one use.

Indeed. They packed in the plastic that is easier to recycle, too. Bloody Rodney Whitchelo.
