Is it common that lots of boys dry hump at secondary school?

My 12 year old has frequently mentioned various boys in y7 dry humping each other, tables, chairs for a laugh. He hates it. My y10 said loads of boys in her school frequently engaged in this and promptly showed me a WhatsApp of boys jumping on sleeping boys ( on a school trip) and dry humping on them ‘for a laugh’. All very common and seemingly no big deal. It all looks ‘rough and tumble’ and boys being silly but I don’t remember dry humping being a thing in the 90s. Is this really a ‘thing’? If it happened outside school it would potentially be a very serious matter.

This was a huge thing when I was in school in the 90s. Especially with the class clowns.

You need to raise this with the school. It is not acceptable. If school do not take appropriate action to stop it happening report it to Ofsted. This is a type of sexual offence and other students and staff should not be forced to put up with it. I'm a teacher and this would not be allowed to rake place where I work - students would be very seriously dealt with.

Some will never grow out of it, a bit like drawing penises and balls as graffitti.

Was the WhatsApp on your DDs phone children at her school? Filming/taking photos of a child doing something to another child when they are asleep ‘for a laugh’ sounds like something the school and potentially the police need to be aware of.

Yes, it was a thing in the 90s among the rugby lads. One of them would shout BUNDLE and then they'd all leap on each other as you describe.

That said, I do have one recollection of a boy shouting “PAMMY!” and humping a lamp post once in about 1996… I’d forgotten about it until this thread!

This made me laugh! But I have to say, I teach in an all boys school and rarely witness dry humping!

Used to happen all the time in the early 2000s. Yes, they did it loads, and it was horrible, and tbh I think it should be called out as sexual assault and if they refuse to stop they should be expelled.

It might be funny for the people doing it but it's not for those having it done to them.

I've definitely seen a scene in some comedy where a boy falls over or something and all his mates jump on him and dry hump him. Can't quite remember though...Inbetweeners/American Pie or something?
