To think that those with piercings are low class?

I have been on a discussion elsewhere on MN about this and i am talking about anything outside of perhaps the ears and nose.

people riddled with piercings, especially women are what i would call low class and as i explained on the other thread that doesn't relate to income
you can be loaded and be TOTALLY chavvy

Am I being Unreasonable? i don't think so, but please advise

i believe people who express a view just to cause arguments are low class

UnquietDad · 24/05/2008 12:03

I don't think it's necessarily a sign of class. But like tattoos, I do wonder why people need them.

bubblagirl · 24/05/2008 12:09

i dont like to jusge anyone on appearance to be hones ti have a friend i worked with with piercings everywhere the most kindest lovely girl you would ever meet

i would rather go on how someone acts and there personality alone never judge a book by its cover

i wouldnt want someoen to jusge me on how i look i would want someone to know me and judge me but if someone has that kind of ugly attitude i wouldnt want to know them anyway

bubblagirl · 24/05/2008 12:10

African Kings have many piercings and you want to call them low class?
Many tribed around the world have Piercing ceremonies to prove their adulthood (wanna call them low class too?)
And I wouldn't call myself or my other half lower class thank you.
Working maybe.
The only sign of low class is being naive to this!!

mylovelymonster · 24/05/2008 16:26

I wouldn't say it was low class, just blardy ugly IMHO

mylovelymonster · 24/05/2008 16:28

Ms Philips has gone right down in my estimation. And lady cardigan - you should know better. What would your dear grandmother say?

Each to his own, but I loathe anything away from the ear.

nelix2000 · 24/05/2008 16:33

as a tatooted, pierced mother of technically middle class origin with a degree in literature and part time uni lecturer....would that make me lower class based on my appearance???....erm no....YABU very closed minded.....working/lower class is nothing to be ashamed of...and it is very odd to tar people based soley on appearance. Class systems are feudal and horrid

LaWench · 24/05/2008 16:37

I nearly passed the test with only ear piercing, but I fear the one at the top of the ear is deemed inappropriate according to you, though totally fail since I have a tattoo. Oh well, I might as well accept that my class status has been decided by you.

mylovelymonster · 24/05/2008 16:39

People do love to judge each other tho. We're all monsters

Saturn74 · 24/05/2008 16:42

loudmouth, are you a namechanger, or is this really your first day on MN?

posieparker · 24/05/2008 16:48

Peircing does conjure up an image for me and I make lots a=of assumptions about a whole range of things in their lives, and then I remember that I'm not stupid and narrow minded. But you never see a GP/barrister or professional with visible peircings, however you don;t get a look at their labia or nipples often do you??
Most children with peirced ears do look awful, especially those with white or afro carribean skin.

posieparker · 24/05/2008 16:50

To be fair to the poster there are no mothers at my children's private school with peircings but some at the local state school.
