To think Siobhan Finneran is one of our finest actresses.

Just watching reruns of Benidorm today and remarked to a colleague that she is such a versatile actress. Yes my job means I get to watch some tv. Guess what I do?

Benidorm,Downton abbey, Alma's not normal to name a few. She's totally different in all.

She's fantastic imo.

Yes love her! If I see an advert for something she’s in I’ll usually give it a try, purely because I think she’s a great actress.

She is a great actress. Impressive in happy valley as well. Come a long way from her first film Rita, Sue and Bob too.

Yes remember Rita, Sue and Bob too. She is a brilliant actress, I always watch something if she is in it.

Except in Last Tango in Halifax - I thought she broke her mould there a bit - was refreshing to be fair !

She is incredible. I loved her in Happy Valley and in Alma’s Not Normal. The hamster poem at the end of Alma was so poignant.

Wow, I didn’t realise that was her! I do now and wow what a great role she played brilliantly.

I also loved her in The Other One, great comedy!

I agree she was miscast in Protection but otherwise really brings characters to life.

Lorraine Ashbourne (had to check her name because she's in so much stuff but I never knew her name) is another great actress of that generation.

Totally agree with this. I watched Protection because she was in it and while it was a decent enough drama and SF put in a solid performance, I found her a bit 'one note' all the way through and didn't really believe the affair with her colleague thing. Think someone like Suranne Jones would've been more convincing all round...
