Avocado, for example, delicious when ripe and served cold or at room temperature, but disgusting if heated.
What are your pet hates, temperature-wise?

Yes i do.too, I don't like ice in drinks either.

I can't stand ice in drinks! People think I'm weird...especially Americans who seem to like more ice than drink.

Agree with avocado, cucumber, baked beans and lamb.
Disagree with pizza (better hot but ok cold), pasta (I like pasta salad), tuna (I like a tuna pasta bake, even though it's a bit studenty!). Also totally fine with salad accompanying hot food. I'd eat salad with lasagne because I like it, not because I think it would make the meal healthier!

I love salad and would have it if the rest of the food wasn't healthy just because I like it.

I quite enjoy baked beans hot, but my cousin eats them cold out of the tin. The thought of it makes me feel sick yukky.

I do this it’s lovely 🙈

I love cold soups in hot weather - gazpacho, chilled watercress or cucumber soups and one of my favourites ever was a chilled cherry soup in Germany which was made with a mix of ripe black and sour cherries. I’ve never been able find a recipe which quite recreated that cherry soup, most of the recipes are for sweet cherry soups.

I like salads with quite a few hot dishes in preference to hot veg.

A lot of Mediterranean/Middle Eastern dishes are traditionally served at room temp but are too often spoiled by being served cold.

Its a crime against cheese to serve it direct from a cold fridge.

Edit to add obviously pineapple on pizza is also a crime!

I don’t mind a proper big cube in my G&T, but what I hate is half a glass of crushed ice, topped up with whatever you’ve asked for, so that if you don’t drink the lot immediately, it’s all disgustingly diluted by melting ice.
A massive con IMO.

I quite like a side salad with Lasagne i am aware it adds no health benefits 😀

Me too, but it has to be on a separate plate. Or in a small bowl. Ditto salad with spag Bol.

Fizbosshoes · 13/06/2025 18:31

I hate ice in drinks too, I'd rather have a chilled coke from the fridge than dilute it with ice. I'm always looking for plants in restaurants to donate my ice to! 🤣

BunnyLake · 13/06/2025 18:32

Chocolate room temperature for me. I like chocolate to almost melt when I eat it not crack my teeth.

Me too. When I realise I forgot to say no ice (and definitely no lemon) my heart sinks.

Crikeyalmighty · 13/06/2025 18:37

@GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER I make them fully make the drink and then ask for an ice cube at the end when full drink is in the glass or ask for a tiny bit of crushed ice .

Coffeeishot · 13/06/2025 18:38

People look at you funny if you say no ice, especially in the cinema you can hear them sigh as they have to fill your cup right up.

Crikeyalmighty · 13/06/2025 18:39

@MoistVonL just had the rather nice M&S potatoes, peas and mint salad pot for lunch with 2 slices of Tourchon ham - delicious!!

Crikeyalmighty · 13/06/2025 18:41

Hot flaked tuna to me tastes like cat food smells - if you get my gist- although I have had a very delicious chargrilled tuna steak before

Yes,,it’s a con - ice is cheaper than whatever drink you’ve asked for.

ARichtGoodDram · 13/06/2025 18:46

I ordered a baked potato with BBQ pulled pork the other day and was very miffed to have a hot potato with cold pulled pork.

The cafe were adamant that is how you serve it, but for me it was totally wrong.

Fizbosshoes · 13/06/2025 18:48

Strawberries should never be hot, but are also disgusting when frozen. Room temperature only

Yep, and the same if served with a baked potato.

Hedgehogshelp · 13/06/2025 11:30

Also salad with lasagne - which seems to be popular on here!

I have done, just trying to get some nutrients in, rather than having garlic bread and chips 🤣

Cerialkiller · 13/06/2025 18:52

PuppyMonkey · 13/06/2025 12:15

Cold pizza is better than hot pizza imho. But not cold garlic bread.

Hot chocolate fudge cake much better than room temp fudge cake.

Came to say exactly this. Chocolate cake must be warm with warm sauce/gnashe and cold cream.

Chocolate however must be room temp. DH refrigerates his and we both think the other is an abomination. I feel for his teeth!!

My brother in law is a good cook and made Christmas eve dinner one year. He served hot lettuce as a side. Yes. Iceberg I think, sauteed. Said it was 'the thing' but I'm convinced he got it mixed up with bok choi or something.

This might start a bun fight, but I like pizza....luke warm... Same with sausages and lasagne. Must have been hot and just cool down enough to eat at speed while everything still has it's flavour but not fridged (which ruins a lot of things imo)

thatsawhopperthatlemon · 13/06/2025 18:54

Stone cold quiche. Especially if it is a bit on the soft side.

Yeah it is, tbf i only get a small drink but their eyes nearly roll out their heads 😂

Crikeyalmighty · 13/06/2025 19:00

@Cerialkiller I love cold high quality sausages!!

Agree but many supermarkets chill strawberries to the stage that they have the texture of thawing fruit.
