The price of Dock and Bay beach towels

Over £100 for four beach towels.Does anybody have some and are they worth it?

I have some. Bought a set for going on holiday and they were great as they packed down so small and dried pretty quickly between swims. We use them lots for going swimming at home too. Much easier than trying to squish a bulky towel into the tiny lockers at our local pool!

But you can get a set of 6 for that price on Amazon

We've had two of these for 6 years and they are fab and still look like new

I'm eyeing up a picnic blanket. I've had the same crappy (from a garage) picnic blanket forever. But whenever I try look for a nicer one, I notice the dimensions are minuscule.

Bought some travel towels from somewhere else that cost loads, were tiny and didn't seem to have any absorbing qualities at all! So honestly, I'd rather go with these!

They look similar to Turkish hammam towels which we use as beach/pool towels all the time. Very lightweight, usually much larger than normal beach towels and dry very quickly. You can get them on amazon very cheaply.

Primark are selling a version for £6 each

Are they not just microfiber towels? I've had microfibre towels and agree they are great but they are about £10!

I have a Dock and Bay picnic blanket, it’s fab, can’t remember the size but it’s huge, is waterproof backed and has a hole on the middle for an umbrella. Love it !

I’d get hamman towels. It’s what we have and they’re great.

I bought 2 Duck and Bay ones maybe a decade ago. I wanted to buy two more last year but couldn’t justify the price so I got some much cheaper ones from another company and can’t really tell the difference between them. The brand is quite pricey!

I looked at them but then realised they’re made of plastic and went for cotton ones instead.

I bought a ‘brand new with tags’ one on Vinted.

I purchased beach towels from Matalan about 25 years ago, 2 for £6, purchased 8 in total as we were going on holiday for 10 days and I needed to know spares were at hand having two small DC.

4 moved out with the DC when they left home but all 8 are still going strong today.

I bought a set of 4 for £70 when they had a sale. They are good in terms of packing - lightweight and fold small. Also good for not getting stuck with sand on them and the towels dry quickly… BUT they dont really dry your body well at all- my kids dont like them and prefer normal towels by the pool in holiday!

Decathlon do very large microfibre towels for a tenner each. We take them camping and on holidays and they dry very quickly

I have the hair turban towel thing. Honestly, I find it brilliant and removes do much more water than my hair than a regular towel.

They’re great to lie on but useless as towels as they’re just not very absorbent. So fine if you like laying on the beach, but less good if you’re in and out of the water.

DH used one during a hospital stay and it was grsat too, we use them at home now and have got rid of our ‘normal’ towels.

Yes, me too. We have a load of towels and head wrap things too. I tend to get them on offer or black Friday or whatever. The kids all have a large one each to live in their backpack for days out and impromptu swims.
