I bought six for the holiday we’ve just been on. Eye wateringly expensive but I really do rate them. Packed so small, lovely and soft and wrapping one round me when I got out of the pool or sea seemed to dry me off really nicely.

I’m absolutely sure you could get something comparative much cheaper though. I just liked the patterns.

I hate mine! They’re like a cheap shiny tea towel material and are very uncomfortable to lay on as basically you’re getting nothing from them, unlike a real towel that’s a bit soft.

I should have returned them but they arrived just before a holiday and I ran out of time.

Fedupoftheshits · 11/06/2025 08:29

We’ve got 3 of them, they are really quick drying and take them on holiday and also use them in our caravan. I think we bought ours from Brand Alley about 3 years ago and they were a lot cheaper.

they are great for travelling as they fold up really small. My only gripe is they aren’t as cosy as wrapping yourself in a fluffy normal beach towel - although in a hot country this isn’t an issue I suppose!

LeCigareVolant · 11/06/2025 08:35

I bought the towel ponchos for my daughters a few years ago and they’re brilliant. Really lightweight and dry quickly. I also have a towel turban and have bought a few as gifts. The quality and patterns really are brilliant.

ShodAndShadySenators · 11/06/2025 08:38

They sound similar to hamman towels with the quick drying, fold up small stuff. We have a bundle of hamman towels from Amazon which are fab and cheap.
I also have a couple of M&S beach towels I've used for years, they make great occasional blankets and weren't very expensive either.

In summary, I wouldn't bother with the Dock & Bay expensive ones when there are cheaper alternatives that are just as good, if not better.

Yes I love them I’m suffering from ME and FND a normal towel is too heavy for me . These are perfect and dry me very quickly . I think £25 a towel is ok . They are huge and last for years . No need to tumble dry either as they can just be hung on a radiator or out on the line . No need to fluff up and they don’t go hard . I also have their wet hair hats and a beach cover up it’s brilliant . As I’m often tired after a shower

What are they actually made from? I use a hamman style cotton towel when swimming because it’s lightweight and dried so quickly. I don’t like microfibre towels, they aren’t as absorbent pick up sand dreadfully.

They’re not microfibre. Have you ever had a cheap printed tea towel that’s totally non absorbent?

They're that material.

BeesAndCrumpets · 11/06/2025 10:00

I love mine, they look great, work really, really well and hold their colour. They fold so well, lightweight and are perfect for home or away trips.

I'm still overjoyed I made the investment all those years ago. I'm not in the position to make the same choice as I did back then, so that makes me love them even more!

KimberleyClark · 11/06/2025 10:08

I’ve been converted to linen towels after we were given them at an outdoor spa pool in Budapest. Really absorbent, quick drying and lightweight. Great for the gym.

NeedWineNow · 11/06/2025 10:08

I bought two and a matching hair towel some years ago in the sale and then got another set in the sale last year. They fold down small for packing and are easy to dry on the balcony at our hotel. I found that they don't get that crusty feel and damp smell that regular beach towels get. I really rate them but, as I say, only get them in the sale.

Bjorkdidit · 11/06/2025 10:14

I also didn't like them (weird material and not very absorbent) so sold them on ebay when 3 of the 4 we bought (or perhaps 2 ponchos and 2 towels) were still with tags but too late to return, so fortunately didn't lose a huge amount of money on them.

Much prefer the Decathlon cheapy microfibre towels and we have some proper hamman towels too, which are great for lightweight beach mat/sarongs.

Cotton Hamman towels are brilliant (and cheap).

And you can use them as a sling to carry a tired child, as a shawl or wrap, as a scarf... much more multi- use than an ordinary towel, I swear by them!

FloppySarnie · 11/06/2025 15:14

You can get similar on Amazon much cheaper. I have some that are thin and lightweight but more like the chamois swimming type. They are brilliant and were a fraction of the price.

I have the £15.99 one (which is enormous) but I think cheaper are probably available too.

ChateauMargaux · 11/06/2025 16:06

My mother in law bought us some, years ago, they have gradually found their way out of our house because they are not great at drying and hold water too long. Decathlon ones are MUCH better. I also have a couple of Cotton hammam towels that I love.. but the decathlon ones are work horses!
