People who hang out washing in heavy rain

Why do people insist on putting out washing when having heavy rain?

If out all day, don’t do it. If in, take it in as soon as it rains!

Washing stinks when out in the rain. Or when is stuck in the washing machine - as parents’ washing machine on Friday. It didn’t drain - the pump has gone. I took the load home with me and washed it as stank. Not strong, but enough to feel conscious about it.

Nosey neighbours love doing this any chance to get closer to your windows and have a peep! lol

My neighbours leave washing out for days even when I rains for several days. Longest was the same washing out for 17 days in a row, it rained for about 14 of those days. The best part is parking is at the rear and they walk in the back gate right past the washing. I was wfh and my colleagues got quite invested in whether that washing was still outside lol!

I had a neighbour like that. She once left her washing out for two weeks until another neighbour kindly told her to take it in. This is unusual though rather than just leaving it out because it got rained on.

I don't think it was "kind" to tell her to take it in. Maybe ask if she'd forgotten it was out there, but it's not the neighbour's business to police someone else's washing. Unless it was a shared line, and she was stopping other people using it.

Are you on glue? Nobody hangs washing out in heavy rain it makes absolutely zero sense to do so.

A friend told me that he used to live next to an old lady (in a Mediterranean country). She wore traditional heavy black clothes and the only time she "washed" them was by hanging them out in heavy rain. He said the smell was unimaginable!

If anyone ever told me to take my laundry, hanging in my own garden, in, they'd get short shrift 😁!
