I recently had my nails done and I’m in actual love with them. Can you be so in love with your own nails that you want to just stare at them forever and ever? So show me your nails now or your best nails! I told my nail tech to go ‘retro’ and that she did!!

I want red with white/silver snowflakes for a Christmas party next week. Anyone got a decent photo for me to show the techs what I want? Mine are short and I can only seem to find long pictures when I google 🤦‍♀️.

Wintery vibes but not particularly festive! Also just making it clear they're press ons. I can't get to a salon for various reasons I won't get into. But have had many a mumsnetter slagging me off for my cuticles/visible lines/chavy designs. Idc. I love them, especially the snake.

Gel and acrylic nails are as common as muck and RUIN natural nails. These all look too thick. Very naff.

I’ve just redone my nails I change the colour every week. At the minute I’m using the Harry Potter nail polishes from Orly I had on Slytherin and now I have the magnetic nail polish on in cauldron smoke and love potion.

Phew, mine are natural with polish so are safe from ruination. The biggest plus with polish is you get to change it weekly, which is so much fun.

I give a ♥️ to just about all the gorgeous nail photos because I love to see them! I've been known to accost shop workers and fellow travellers with my admiration of their nail art. 🙂

I've just taken a quick snap of mine and make no excuses. They're needing some attention but I always do my own with cheapo polishes. It stays on a few days then removed as I like to see how healthy my nails are unadorned and allowed to breathe for another few days.

I've had the acrylics years ago and yes your natural nails are temporarily ruined which is probably why many ladies keep spending at the salons. Wearing gloves in Summer is not a good look 💅

I’ve never had acrylics but the gel really doesn’t damage my nails. They actually grow much stronger than when I don’t have anything on when I have my gels and I love having the art no matter what anyone else thinks of them. That sort of person probably doesn’t like my tattoos either so IDGAF. 😁

I know some removal methods for the gel can ruin nails as well as not having the proper care taken in the manicure and application of the gel. I have an amazing artist who takes great care the whole way through and often has people coming to her to “fix” their nails after they’ve been ruined by some of the cheap walk-in places. BIAB is amazing for people with weaker nails too.

I don't give a single flying fuck whether some random nobody I will never meet thinks my nails aren't classy. I am not doing it for you. I get them done purely for me and I am enjoying having nails for the first time in my life. Yes, they probably are a bit thick this time round, because some had to repaired post surgery. Still neat polished nails are a vast improvement on chewed off stubs.

Trying again...not very festive, will be changing to my Christmas ones next week. Definitely common as muck just like me 🥰. The photo quality is awful as I had to screenshot it and then upload the screenshot because the file was too large so you can't really see the little snake 🐍

@Schweden some posters like to be assholes. Took me years to pluck up the courage to get my nails done. I'm autistic and to even step through the door was massive!! All these nails are lovely and I might not personally choose the designs. But people spend so much time slagging people off. Can't be dealing with that

@SnakebitesandSambucas well said! I only use press ons for similar reasons, I did go to the salon once but had an awful experience so will stick with my press on ones. Even If other people don't like them, I love them.

I found an excellent lady who brings all my ideas to life and makes them to my measurements. Plus I like changing them constantly 😂. I can easily get 3 weeks wear out a set and the bonus point is I can reuse them as many times as I like.

I have quite a quirky/alternative style and I know it's not for everyone, the same way a simple French manicure isn't for me but I'd never dream of coming online and slagging off other people who don't like what I like. I love people expressing themselves and having their own style.

I’d love to try that but my previous manicure see pic lasted terribly on my dominant hand 😳 the technician did say French tips can be a bit weaker but judging by that I won’t try them again

If you don’t like it just stay off the thread. There’s no need to be a dick about it. Unless you have unresolved issues that make you want to ruin others’ joy?
