I think these brands are a bit doomed as soon as the ‘cool teens’ start wearing it (or copies of it) en masse. NorthFace coats, MK bags… Burberry, back in the day.

A Range Rover in a terraced house.

Doesn’t it depend where the terraced house is ?

BobbyBiscuits · 06/06/2025 00:45

Well any big logo handbag that's fairly obviously fake. Thing is some of them are so madly tacky the regular one doesn't look that much better.

Or blokes wearing fake Dior t-shirts with faded Primark joggers.

There was this absolute plum of a bloke I used to be mates with who was actually homeless (through laziness and dishonest so no sympathy!)

He started wearing an appalling fake Hermes belt to hold up his Mr Byright (remember them?) bootcut jeans from 1995. That hadn't been washed since then.

Then he coupled it with a shiny too tight shirt I think used to be his Mum's. He literally referred to himself as a 'flash bastard' while wearing said attire. He was about 55.

He was desperate to be an influencer while refusing to work and dossing on acquaintances couches?! Telling people he was a celebrity...🤣

Oh Burberry 😂 This conjours up images of baseball caps on market stalls, Turkish bazaars and Edina in AbFab

The posts so far make no sense. No one who’s ‘broke’ is going to be buying their teenagers designer clothes or Dior bags!

The OP actually means classless/low class… so someone might have money to buy stuff, but they look low class

I hate this take 😒

GreenFriedTomato · 06/06/2025 00:59

Speaking of Turkey, the purchase of fake goods seems to be a holiday thing for many.
I kind of get it if the bag has a particular style or unusual design but there was this one particular bag shop that was very popular with tourists. All the bags were identical in shape size, design, they just had different logos.
It looked like they bulk bought plain bags in different colours and slapped different brand logos on in the back room.
Zero difference between Dior, Chanel, LV, Gucci apart from the badge 😂

I thought it meant someone who is broke and can't really afford to spend the money, but does spend (get into debt) money on expensive stuff in an attempt to look wealthier than they are. Or buys fake stuff in an attempt to look like they can afford the genuine article.
Not sure

This is quite a sad thread imvho.
not everyone has money to spend on labels, so what if they want to spend on something you wouldn’t otherwise buy. Leave people alone. Love and be loved.

Totally agree x

I think so too.

Someone who voices catty remarks about what their friends wear. And notices what they wear as opposed to how their friends are feeling and coping.

Upper class indicates generosity towards others.

Baravia · 06/06/2025 01:54

Hyacinth Bucket lol.

Well sort of, she isn't poor but tries to make out she's richer than she is!

How many broke people do you genuinely think own lambos?

What a ridiculous thread 😂

Shady people who lease cars for their Socials.

They don't own them. They can't afford to buy them. The Lamborghini is not a "capital asset". It's a leased expense. Mostly used by failing SM hawkers and influencers fleecing profiting from the gullible.

OverstimulatedMumsClub · 06/06/2025 02:07

Louis Vuitton handbags and anything balenciaga

Hot tubs

I find hot tubs weird. It’s basically having a bath with your family in full view of your neighbours 🤣

babymamalove · 06/06/2025 02:18

Maybe these women don’t want to wear drab clothes from fat face/boden/joules?

Something about this post smells like jealousy - is it that these women look more glam than you OP?

Brownthosebrownonionsbrown · 06/06/2025 02:26

I have six pairs of Hoka one one trainers

nebulae · 06/06/2025 02:29

Half a dozen gold chains/pendants, all tangled up round the neck. Massive gold earrings. Multiple rings.

Devianinc · 06/06/2025 02:31

UseNailOil · 05/06/2025 22:10

Big, new SUV - especially a white Range Rover Evoke (probably on finance)
Hair extensions
Fake eye lashes
Big long plastic nails with elaborate designs

The evoque is actually the least expensive model of land rovers and real small and easy to drive bc of that

Babyenroute · 06/06/2025 02:34

Never been in the shop , but the brand ‘Nicce’

“…mostly Americans” what?
I swear Americans get so much unnecessary grief when trash is universal.
The US doesn’t have the corner on the fake designer I’m trying to look richer than I am market.
Every country takes part in that trade.

MsNevermore · 06/06/2025 02:36

Don’t know if anyone else has said it…..but coasters on tables 👀😂
My Nana told me that years ago 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️😂

Rich people who’ve paid a lot of money for amazing quality furniture know the finish won’t get ruined by a drink ring.
People who’ve bought budget furniture than looks bougie use coasters because the finish is crappy quality and will get ruined by drink rings.

Edited

Speaking of socials, and this isn't about clothing or other material possessions.

I know a woman who posts on FB/Tiktok etc about her jetset lifestyle always travelling the world. I met her in real life a few times so I was interested in following her adventures.
She's always getting upgraded to first class on flights. Standard rooms to suites in hotels. Invited by randoms to Michelin star restaurants and so on. I wondered, what's your secret, I'm never that lucky, what am I doing wrong 😂
One day the travel timeline didn't add up (3 different cities in less than 48 hours which was a physical impossibility) and some of the photos looked suspiciously professional, so I did a bit of digging.
It turned out she wasn't travelling anywhere apart from the occasional weekend to Spain. She was just sat at home with barely a penny to her name (like myself) , grabbing photos from hotel websites and pretending to live this amazing lifestyle.

Most cars with new number plates! (I'm aware many get these for work so that's a bit different).

The fact of the matter is, most people can't afford a new car outright but for some INSANE reason this nation insists on persuading random strangers that they are indeed loaded by driving around in a car that they can't afford. When I see them, I do often think if the person driving it knows it's the biggest depreciating asset a person can own.

I'm all for a BMW 1 series with an old number plate if it's got low mileage and runs well!

My car was brand new last August, but I am a pensioner on just less than the full state pension, and I also receive PIP - at the moment. I got a brand new car last year because Motability always supply new cars. There are quite a lot of us - seriously disabled people - about...
