Grown man at cinema on his own

Watching Lilo & Stitch..is this odd?

Here with Dd, only one other family here…and this guy, munching on snacks..watching Lilo & Stitch

Is it just me 😂

OP posts:
BethDuttonYeHaw · 02/06/2025 15:27

I go to the cinema and theatre by myself quite often.

what is the issue?

Iceandfire92 · 02/06/2025 15:27

He is clearly a dangerous predator. Police, immediately without any hesitation and evacuate any children out of the building who are at any risk of getting into his clutches. Put a Facebook message out for good measure with a clear picture of this dangerous man to warn other parents in the vicinity in case the lilo and stitch watching man approaches.

My Neuro diverse son watches Disney films on his own. What a horrible, judgemental person you are😡

There’s a few horrible small minded people on this thread. Cinemas are empty most of the time anyway. They need as much custom as possible.

SuperTrooper14 · 02/06/2025 15:28

My BIL is a massive, massive movie buff and often goes to the cinema during the day if he's not working. There isn't a film he won't watch, even cartoons. But he's there to watch films and not to ogle children as OP seems to be insinuating that's what single men must do if they are going to the cinema by themselves.

verityveritas · 02/06/2025 15:28

AzureShark · 02/06/2025 14:44

Yeah, still odd.

I've 3 dc from 17 down and couldn't even count how many kids films I've taken them to over the years. I don't think we've ever seen a lone adult watching a kids film in a cinema, ever.

It would be unusual. Odd. Uncommon. So it would draw my eye and I'd notice, absolutely.

All the cool girls on this thread who are adamant it's just so normal and happens so often they wouldn't even take note are rather funny.

Well I’m definitely not a ‘cool’ girl. But when I lived overseas I regularly went to the cinema on my own to watch kids films because it’s a really good way to learn a language. Plot lines are generally easier to follow, so if you don’t understand every word, you still get the gist. For people with any kind of language disability children’s films or films like ‘Mr Bean’s holiday’, are brilliant. I think it odd that you think it’s odd, but then life would be dull if we all thought the same.

GasPanic · 02/06/2025 15:29

Add it to the list of stuff "grown men" aren't allowed to do.

Like go out walking without a dog.

Fortunately if you are an ungrown man then you can do pretty much anything.

GoodOldTrayBake · 02/06/2025 15:24

Yeh. It’s weird. Ignore the holier than thou bunch. They are the reason why the trans lobby were able to exert so much power and influence, because liberal people were falling over themselves to prove how accepting they are that they couldn’t bring themselves to call out weird behaviour. And by the way, I’m a liberal. I’m one of the so called metropolitan middle class elite. Only difference is I’m happy to call a spade a spade. A man dressed as a woman is still a biological man. A single man alone watching a kids film is weird.

What on earth are you on about? I believe men can’t become women but a man is perfectly fine to watch an animated movie on his own.

I pity the small mindedness here. And as a pp said, the original L&S came out 23 years ago, so kids who saw will not be grown men and women and will watch the sequel.

ParmaVioletTea · 02/06/2025 15:29

YABU. Totally.

I often go to the cinema on my on, and I don't appreciate your nasty curtain-twitching tone, @Littlebluecreature

SuperTrooper14 · 02/06/2025 15:29

MissScarletInTheBallroom · 02/06/2025 15:19

I know a middle aged man with a cinema pass who has made it his life's mission to see every film that is released.

I think you know my BIL!

housethatbuiltme · 02/06/2025 15:30

HaddyAbrams · 02/06/2025 14:18

Whilst I agree that he's doing nothing wrong, someone middle aged (40-60) was not a child in 2002.

Virtually no one lives to 120, thats world record level and well past standard 'middle age'.

Middle age is 35 - 45 (expected life span of between 70 - 90 years).

twattydogshavetwattypeople · 02/06/2025 15:30

Lots of people, men and women, go to the cinema on their own. I gave it up only due to the behaviour of a minority of the audience spoiling the experience (including jerks who use their phones when the cinema is supposed to be in darkness).

ParmaVioletTea · 02/06/2025 15:30

Littlebluecreature · 02/06/2025 14:14

Ok wasn’t trying to be awful at all, wasn’t judging him, feel bad now.
I love going to the cinema on my own, it was just the kids thing, that’s all

But you WERE judging him. Nasty.

my gosh, that's a lot of thoughts going into a complete non-event that most people wouldn't even notice.

Mollymalone123 · 02/06/2025 15:31

well my autistic nephew would do this .it’s a shame some people in the world would judge him for it.

No, a single man alone doing something odd or suspicious whilst watching a kids' film may be weird.

A single man watching a film has every right to be there. She doesn't say it's specifically a children's showing.

This is how these arguments get obfuscated.

You lead a small life. Expand your horizons.

And you don’t own the cinema. So keep your eyes on the screen and ignore perfectly normal people watching a movie.

Katemax82 · 02/06/2025 15:34

My autistic son is 19, 6ft 4 and 19st and looks about 25 but would probably go watch a kids film of he really wanted too, especially if it was loony tunes

Dontlletmedownbruce · 02/06/2025 15:34

I suspect you wouldn't have posted if it was a woman.

The man in the cinema wasn't dressed as a woman. Nor was he in a single sex space designated for women.

Of course you are judging him and you also decided to post it on the internet to drum up agreement on your judgement.

QuickScroller · 02/06/2025 15:36

My Mum often goes to the cinema on her own.. she enjoys time away from her hectic social life. She went to see Lilo & Stitch alone. Would you not judge her because she’s female?

HaddyAbrams · 02/06/2025 15:36

Whilst yes. That's technically correct. Everyone I know, Google, consider middle aged to be 40-60.
I certainly barely class myself as middle age at 40. I still feel young!

Penthrowingsurvivor · 02/06/2025 15:37

You could make an entire movie with all the perfectly valid reasons a MAN could be watching that movie on his own,

Shame you could make even more with all the twisted reasons some posters find. It must be exhausting and so toxic to be so obsessively negative about non-events because a MAN is involved.

TaupeRaven · 02/06/2025 15:37

AzureShark · 02/06/2025 14:27

Not following your logic here - I didn't mention rule breaking.

Something can be odd as hell without breaking any rules or laws.

When an individuals behaviour appears unusual, it will usually make you more guarded, for obvious reasons.

What are the "obvious reasons"? I'm not seeing any

JeremiahBullfrog · 02/06/2025 15:37

Maybe he was in town for two hours with nothing to do and the cinema was the best option available? That's the main reason I watch films nowadays.

Why would a child predator go looking for them in the cinema anyway? It's dark, so you can't see them, and they're constantly about three inches from their parents. It's a sunny day, wouldn't you be better off going to the park?
