Is it just me 😂

Why do people like you leap up as soon as the credits begin to roll and ruin the final scene for everyone else? Just sit fucking still.

Minecraft Movie was a prime example. Put up with shitbags ruining the film and then their parents leap up and sprint out and completely miss the final scene at the end of the credits.

Idiots the lot of them. Now to know that they are sitting there judging other filmgoers, nasty.

Yeah , I wouldn’t take any notice of a man there with his kids or with his wife & kids & most people are the same & you know that’s true !
It’s far more normal than a grown man on his own , sat there watching a kids movie , the truth is all the men I know would never do it & that’s a fact !
I don’t care if I come across as too suspicious or whatever way I’m coming across , I simply am being honest, grown man on his own in cinema watching a kids movie is kinda weird to me & that’s just the way I feel about it 🤷🏻‍♀️ & I’d be conscious of it , that’s all , and as I’ve said , if I was someone who left my lads out on their own to bathroom/ shop I’d be making sure to go with them ..

So family men aren't a concern?
Got it
😒

skymagentatwo · 03/06/2025 13:18

There are some complete nutters on this thread of course its normal for a grown adult man to watch cinema on their own.

There is a massive world wide group of figure collectors who spend thousands on collections and may of them will also be going to watch a film about their collectables and have some child hood memories of the series.

Are they weird pervs for collecting also 🙄

I think if you think a man being in a cinema, watching a film, a completely normal activity, is a threat, then you aren't as "not man hating" as you think

No , you’re wrong PP , I don’t hate men ..
That’s besides the point anyway ..
Why is everyone getting so up in arms about other people’s views ? ?
So what if I’d be more mindful of my children at the cinema , cause there’s an adult man sitting on his own behind me watching a kids movie ..
Sure what am I doing only being aware …

You’re throwing out every which what kind of a scenario 🙄
Sure it might have been Steven Spielberg sitting there looking for ideas 🙄
We’re talking in general !

this happened to us, DD and I at cinema, guy in front of us on his own, munching snacks and laughing uproariously at a film.

I'm surprised you know that about "all the men you know", unless you only know a few men.
I actually don't know if any men I know would go to Lilo and Stitch but I know a lot who would go to Star Wars and know a few with unlimited tickets who might drop into a film if the time suited them.

Also, I don't get from this thread that "most people" would notice a grown man on his own, so while it's fine to express your own view, don't assume everyone shares it.

I agree with you about accompanying young kids to the toilet - family men or men from other screenings could be in there. Men can be a threat but I don't think solo cinema trip necessarily flags that up.

I'm not throwing out any which what kind of scenario, I'm talking explicitly about my DH and his friends.

If you cant handle the fact a grown man wants to go to the cinema to watch any film of his choice I suggest you stick to watching films at home with your little precious darlings, so the bad men cant share a cinema with them. 😂

PP , I do think everyone is entitled to their view ..
I feel like I got a right telling off for having mine !

LemonOwl · 03/06/2025 13:40

@Missj25 I meant to quote you.

I'm the same. I'm usually the one saying but not all men are dangerous to then be told to get off the men hating threads.

I do find it odd that a man would want to go and watch a children's film on his own. Another PP said her DH went to waterparks on his own which I think is odd as well.

I was talking to my DH and some men friends and we agreed men shouldn't feel odd about walking in the countryside without a dog. I'm also usually saying that the good men have a bad reputation because of the bad ones.

Perhaps because I'm not into many children's films myself that's why I think it's odd. I do love a waterpark but I've never once gone on my own.

I can handle sharing the cinema with men that go to the cinema on their own , just more aware of the ones who are there sat on their own watching kids movies , that’s all 🤷🏻‍♀️..
Clearly, you don’t have kids , else you might be able to see it a little more from my perspective….

Well I raised three kids and I still think you’re talking nonsense.

The U certificate means Universal. Anyone can watch it. It’s perfectly fine to like family films as an adult. Most people grew up with Disney movies as a part of their lives, and if they fancy seeing them in adulthood, why shouldn’t they?

I went to see Moana at the cinema on my own age 47 because my kids had been with friends and told me I’d love it (they were right).

I do have kids, but I'm not scared of the boogie man stalking them in the middle of a Lilo and Stitch movie, what next a grown man in a Sponge Bob movie, hell call the cops 😱😂

@dailymail Can you please report grown men are going to the cinema on their own!!!!!! 😂

Why is an adult liking and watching kids movies something to be automatically wary of?
What is an "acceptable" film to watch as a grown up by yourself at the cinema?
Do you have a self appointed list that, meets your approval?
🙄
I say this as someone who does have kids but also occasionally likes going to the cinema by myself.

I have 2 children and wouldn’t think to be wary of a man deciding to watch a film on his own. You seem very small minded

Well everyone is just giving out to me now 🙈 so I’m just going to go clean the kitchen 😂
If there was an emoji of girl covering her ears & sticking out her tongue at the same time , that’s the one I’d be sending you PP 😁

Because you openly admit you wouldn't be as cautious if he wasn't alone

Which means you think men shouldn't be out alone. Doing normal things.

Which is pretty anti-man

DoctorRoseReturns · 03/06/2025 14:31

And, again, Disney films are Family films. They are done with the intent of being interesting for both adults and children

They are not "kids films"

I hate that too. Even if there is no final scene at the end (and how do you know for sure?), there is usually a poignant piece of music that, imho, is just as important a part of the film as all the other parts.

Don't people just want to sit and properly take in the film that they've just spent two hours watching, just for two or three minutes? It's meant to be a pleasurable experience; not a boring chore that you quit the instant it's done.

The original Lilo And Stitch was my son’s favourite movie when he was small. He went to see the new one when it came out to see how it measured up and what they’d changed.

He’s a grown man who just remembered something fondly so went to see the new version. I think it’s pretty unpleasant to judge anyone for that.

He has that Odeon subscription where he can see endless movies for £18 a month, so he’s at the cinema by himself frequently.

As a shameless nostalgic this really made me smile.

I had to watch the original L&S movie far too many times to feel anything other than contemptuous hatred towards it, even now. But I hope that your son enjoyed it and wasn't judged to within an inch of his life for being there.

PS would you let a lone fireman or medic rescue your children or would they have to be accompanied by a female chaperone? 🤔
