He may well have a cinema pass and is just getting his money's worth 🤷‍♀️

Pointynoseowner · 02/06/2025 16:02

Quick call the police ......🤣🤣🤣🤣

momtoboys · 02/06/2025 16:02

Let the man be.

Are you suggesting I’m stuck up? Why?

I was agreeing with you.
The poster you quoted sounds stuck up not just small minded pearl clutching i think mn calls them.

ThatSchoolOfficeLady · 02/06/2025 16:05

I'm getting Salem Witch Trial vibes 🤣

BuildbyNumbere · 02/06/2025 16:05

Unusual … but maybe he wanted to see it 🤷🏻‍♀️

Littlebluecreature · 02/06/2025 14:14

Ok wasn’t trying to be awful at all, wasn’t judging him, feel bad now.
I love going to the cinema on my own, it was just the kids thing, that’s all

So why did you start a thread about it then?

spirit20 · 02/06/2025 16:07

This thread has got to win an award for being peak mumsnet. I don't normally buy into the whole 'feeling sorry for men' thing, but christ, if they can't even go to the cinema by themselves, that's a bit grim.

From a logical point of view, if he did had any dodgy intentions, he wouldn't go to an almost empty screening at a time when all kids will be in school!

nomas · 02/06/2025 16:07

cremebruleee · 02/06/2025 16:06

To have a giggle about the poor sad man on his own, I’m guessing.

Depressing that these attitudes don’t change beyond the school playground.

wwyd2021medicine · 02/06/2025 16:08

It may be underestimated how many men think they can't go places on their own for fear of offending.

In my job in healthcare, I have had several men tell me that they can't walk around the block where they live because they would walk past a school and someone would think that they were a weirdo. Cue long conversations re possible routes - I'm talking about people significantly lacking in confidence due to, for example, anxiety and depression. Also has applied to others with walking at local beauty spots.

Many commented that if they had a dog, it would be ok.

Gotcha. Well it’s certainly a small and judgemental mindset!

Temporaryname158 · 02/06/2025 16:09

Lone man in children’s film - how awful he was judged by you when he’s done nothing wrong

maybe he has kids who had seen it and kept saying daddy, you’ve got to see it it’s brilliant!!!! So he went when they were at their mums so he could talk to them about it

maybe he likes disney

maybe he got free tickets

maybe his friend cancelled on him

i would hate it as a lone female, if people judged me for my film choice, ie why is that woman sat watching an action film alone??

not every man is a peadophile. Would you have said the same about a woman alone?

AzureShark · 02/06/2025 16:10

GoodOldTrayBake · 02/06/2025 15:24

Yeh. It’s weird. Ignore the holier than thou bunch. They are the reason why the trans lobby were able to exert so much power and influence, because liberal people were falling over themselves to prove how accepting they are that they couldn’t bring themselves to call out weird behaviour. And by the way, I’m a liberal. I’m one of the so called metropolitan middle class elite. Only difference is I’m happy to call a spade a spade. A man dressed as a woman is still a biological man. A single man alone watching a kids film is weird.

Yeah this is a really good analogy...well put.

However, equally amusing to watching people fall over themselves to prove how accepting they are on this thread is noting the stunning lack of reading comprehension in the replies to your post @GoodOldTrayBake

All the 'what are you on about, he wasn't dressed as a woman 😵‍💫 ' comments 😂. Come on people, liven up. Just maybe read it twice to make sure you understand before firing a reply 😂😂

greengreyblue · 02/06/2025 16:10

He may have been writing a review on the film.

Itiswhysofew · 02/06/2025 16:13

I'd be curious, but not to the point of worrying about it.

And yet you're falling over yourself to double down on your opinion. Even though barely anyone agrees with you. Therefore you are the minority.

You can tinkle laugh that we are sheeples but in fact, I'd be very wary of knowing someone with an opinion like that.

Enjoy your "odd" smugness.

VickiFromAmsterdam · 02/06/2025 16:14

Another to add to the list of what aaaall MN, & their friends & families do is go to the cinema alone.

ThisChirpyFox · 02/06/2025 16:15

My partner loves going to the cinema and loves all sorts of movies from horror, comedy, action and yes cartoons such as Disney and other stuff.

I'm not keen on going so he often goes alone.

If this guy's just there to watch the film and hasn't bothered you I can't see what the problem is and why the need to post about it.

Throwawaygh · 02/06/2025 16:16

It’s just you.

You have no idea if he just likes Stitch, or if there’s something deeper behind it. Maybe it reminds him of when he was younger and watched it with a now deceased parent. Or it was his child’s favourite before something happened to them or their relationship and he’s watching to feel closer. Your post says a lot more about the kind of person you are than him.

PeloMom · 02/06/2025 16:16

Figgygal · 02/06/2025 14:09

Maybe he has a membership and goes to see everything and anything

fair play to him

That used to be me and a bunch of the people I worked with - we had a £10 a month membership and would stop by the cinema (in our own most of the time) after work, watch wherever available to wind down and then go home.

MLMsuperfan · 02/06/2025 16:19

Call the police OP.

Supima · 02/06/2025 16:19

It’s weird yes. The single best thing about kids getting older is that you no longer have to waste hours of your life suffering the torment of enduring shit like Alvin & the Chipmunks. Doing it voluntarily to yourself is incomprehensible to me. Mind you, quite enjoyed the Minions movies.

IfYouPutASausageInItItsNotAViennetta · 02/06/2025 16:19

ginasevern · 02/06/2025 15:58

I doubt it. Not many women go to the cinema for a wank.

I think you must be more used to a different kind of cinema... the kind that doesn't normally show films like Lilo & Stitch.

All of the vast array of nasty stuff that is available on the Internet, yet you assume that a man's choice of material for some 'self love' would be a family film at the pictures?

If you regularly go to the cinema and sit there staring at men's groins in the dark, they probably assume that you are the pervert about whom everybody should be on their guard.

He’s gone at a time whilst most kids are at school, the only ones there at this time are going to be young so with parents rather than with friends and no adult. I would imagine a predator would consider this.

That comment was as much a pile of shite as what you have been saying.
