Should be more outraged at what I’d happening in Gaza?

It has been a long time since we looked at scenes like people being killed by the thousands and we are helpless to express our outrage. It is not the rights or wrongs of the wars I am concerned with now. All sides are beastly but this is 2025. Have we learnt nothing from the last two world wars. We, the citizens of the world should say, no- is primitive and barbarous to shoot or bomb civilians….morally we should stand up and demand that the good offices of the United Nations, international Courts the Red Cross and other organisations be respected and do their jobs of safeguarding the rights of non-combatants and civilians. The world is a dangerous place and we are so interconnected now that we have to care. If Trump can feel he can direct and control the finances of the whole world the we have to watch out. Today it’s Gaza or Israel tomorrow it could be us. Should we, especially us the women with children, watch the world go back to the dark ages. What can we do? Discuss

Nothing more annoying / patronising than directing readers to “Discuss”.

We aren't in school!

So, for that reason yes, you are being unreasonable 🤷‍♀️

IReallyLoveItHere · 31/05/2025 10:51

Wars in the middle east are constant, we just don't hear about them very much. The Israel /Palatine has always been better known because the west were involved in creating the situation.

What do you think anyone can do?

We (Britain) need to concentrate on Ukraine /Russia because that could easily become a European war.

BMW6 · 31/05/2025 10:52

"Discuss"??? FO

BigTumSad · 31/05/2025 10:52

Honestly I feel physically sick everyday thinking about the Palestinian people and the trauma they are enduring on a daily basis in Gaza.

I used to be active on twitter about it. I've been in the PSC for years and years. But I am now, ashamedly, at the point where I can't watch it or listen to anymore about it anymore. I just have felt so much despair and so helpless to do anything for so long. There is only so long you can watch a genocide happening in real time, watch little children blown to bits, orphaned, watch men, women and children scared for their lives and living in atrocious conditions, before you either become vicariously traumatized yourself, or you just cut off.

I have the luxury of being able to turn away. But the people of Gaza live this daily. They cannot turn away. They live through this unimaginable torment every single day.

This situation has actually significantly changed my world view. I cannot believe how cruel some humans can be. I never thought there would be another Hitler. But here we are. Netenyahu is a psychopath propped up by allies who should have shut him down months and months ago.

Our government does nothing. America does less than nothing and actively supports. The world does nothing.

Meanwhile, innocent children and their families are going through a living hell earth.

What can we do? I only wish I knew..That question has tormented me for far too long.

I am also correct. Maybe we should import them all to the UK, that might stop the war? Discuss...

FleurDeFleur · 31/05/2025 10:53

"Discuss"? Really?
There is an entire board on here about this topic. There is no shortage of discussion. It's not more talk that's needed, it's action.

Ah. AI not at it's finest? Or someone desperately trying to finish homework before the end of half term?

BMW6 · 31/05/2025 10:55

Oh and OP there's a section dedicated to discussing the Gaza conflict.

Take this there if you want to discuss.

Exaltedmalteaser · 31/05/2025 10:55

You should be concerned about Hamas, and what they are doing to Gaza. They have started a war, used civilians as human shields, and have refused to distribute aid. The sooner they are removed the better.

EnhancedVampireEyeballs · 31/05/2025 11:02

"especially us the women with children". Ah, so us women without children despite trying, are irrelevant? We have no regard for the future of this planet we all live on?

And "Discuss"? Nope. Rude, and you don't actually get to issue orders to other posters.

I've just been reading that they haven't been able to pay their fighters, so may need a ceasefire soon.

Idkw2d · 31/05/2025 11:12

People will be nitpicky about your tone and the thread and the blah blah blah but at the end of the day, what is happening in Gaza is now a genocide being carried out by Israel and even its own people are protesting against the Israeli government so it’s embarrassing that people in the west are justifying the actions of Netanyahu when even his own people see him as a psychopath.

Label the ME as “savages” all you want but one day when it reaches your own front door there will be nobody - and I genuinely mean nobody - left to speak up for us lot because everyone else will be dealt with the way they are dealing with Palestine right now.

Im sure all the orphaned boys and babies will be soooo against Hamas, watching Israel blow their families up! They will NEVER want to join Hamas after witnessing all this, oh no, never! /sarcasm

Israel is - and this is fact - committing multiple war crimes as we speak.

They target and kill journalists.

they murder innocent families while they shelter in schools and hospitals.

They kill animals on the streets for jokes.

They rape prisoners and hostages.

They murder ambulance workers and aid providers, then bury them to hide the evidence even though there is proof.

They shot hundreds of bullets into a car with a 6 year old inside, surrounded by her dead family, and the official aid workers sent to save her - all murdered.

Israel is a terrorist state.

soddingspiderseason · 31/05/2025 11:13

Hi - I am concerned about Gaza, but I am also concerned about what’s happening in the DRC, Sudan, Myanmar, Ukraine etc. The disproportionate focus on Gaza when so little was said about the Rohingha, the Yazidi, the Uighurs troubles me.

Idkw2d · 31/05/2025 11:13

FleurDeFleur · 31/05/2025 11:09

So Israel has managed to kill 10s of 1000s of innocent civilians - including journalists and aid workers - but they still haven’t managed to kill Hamas? The entirety of Gaza is rubble. Anyone who believes the ‘but Hamas’ justifications needs a reality check.

Just because there is a lack of balanced support, it doesn’t mean we need to start fighting between ourselves. All oppression and genocide is wrong and it’s never too late to speak up. Gaza activists have been speaking out regularly for Sudan, Congo, Yemen, etc. This isn’t a competition. Nobody should be oppressed and left to die, and if Palestine is the starting point for people to open their eyes and realise the horrific injustices occurring, then it’s better than them staying blind to everything.

This, and I have said so to all my hypocritical Muslim friends who have got up in arms about Gaza but were nowhere when Muslims were being persecuted in these places.

Totally this, for some people religion is everything and there is no point pretending otherwise. Each side wants to wipe out the other until there is no one left.

Agree.

Israel has the best intelligence service in the world. They knew from the beginning where key hammas leaders were (the most prominent weren't even in Gaza) and could quite easily have taken them out quickly as revenge for 7/10. At the beginning they knew exactly where key people were that they wanted eliminated. There was no need for a mass destruction campaign and the killing of so many innocent civilians.

What has, and is, happening in Gaza now is ethnic cleansing and genocide ... Netenyahu is Hitler.

The whole 'we are trying to eliminate hamas' is ridiculous. You cannot eliminate an ideology and the the more you bomb the shit out of innocent people, the more likely it is that you will throw wood on the fire. Hamas will return after this, it may be given another name. But people remember. They remember seeing their father blown to bits, their mum being ripped away from them, their house destroyed, their brother starving in front of their eyes. They remember and they will want revenge. Hamas will re-grow stronger.

Not only will those children left in Gaza (who will be deeply deeply traumatised) grow up to wish death on Israeli's, but internationally hamas (or similar emerging organisation) will have garnered much support.

You mark my words. What Netenyahu and the IDF are doing to Gaza now will come back to haunt Israel. Not only have they destroyed Gaza and traumatised it's people, but ultimately they have committed a future suicide upon themselves.

1000%

I grew up in Belfast during the troubles and while living in England I would have people express their horror at the IRA the “terrorism”. Going on about how awful it was from their middle class English bubble.
Well yeah plenty of boys and men did get involved with the IRA, but plenty of them did it due to seeing their dad’s get shot by the British army, or they ended up living in the camps because they got burned out of their home in the middle of the night for being catholic, or their brother/ cousin was killed. Actions have consequences and the idea that one side is pure and good and one side is evil and not a product of their shit environment is nonsense.

How anyone can think indiscriminate bombing will stamp out a terrorist organisation is beyond me, every single air strike is radicalising more and more people from Gaza because they are brought up in appalling circumstances.

Well no it hasn’t been a long time for many people who have been watching this play out from the start and who actually watch the news of the numerous wars going on around the world. Why are you so outraged now?
