To think that women (or men) who drop their kids off at school in PJS, go shopping in Tesco in pj's and come down to the breakfast in a hotel in pj's are wrong in the head?

I visited Amsterdam last year and was shocked to see an apparently middle class women coming down to breakfast in her pj's,dressing gown and slippers. Similarly going round Tescos where there are people, especially women in pj's and slippers. No doubt I'll be called an old right wing fascist or something.

If it offends people, it is causing harm to people.

It’s like the broken window theory in 1980s New York. If wearing PJs in public becomes acceptable what next?

I have worn PJs in public because I struggle with my mental health.
Judging me and being obvious about it, causes me more harm than the seemingly eye burning vision of me in my PJs outside my home.
And the posters on here who have also explained why they are not in "day" clothing when out is due to various disabilities.
You can just not look at us, and get on with your day.

OonaStubbs · 02/06/2025 20:57

Surely there are "day" clothes that are just as easy to put on/take off as pyjamas?

How does it affect you? Someone is out and they are clothed. Their clothing might not be to your liking/taste, but you can look away and get on with your day. It is that easy.

BlueyNeedsToFuckOff · 02/06/2025 21:04

I’d prefer to see someone in PJs than the current trend for skirts so short you can see someone’s arse cheeks in the inevitable thong. But it’s easy enough to avert your eyes if you don’t want to see it.

Or those scrunch bum leggings, especially the nude colour ones. At first glance, it looks like the wearer is naked from the waist down.

Where do you draw the line though? Clothing with terrible swearing on it? People in fancy dress in KKK robes? Mankinis? There has to be a line drawn somewhere.

YourAmplePlumPoster · 02/06/2025 21:07

Someone rolls out of bed wearing their pjs to deliver their kids to school, rocks up at the breakfast buffet in pjs or does their shopping in pj's and this is supposed to be some heroic act as is being made out? I don't think so.

Are you really comparing KKK robes with PJs?
Fucking hell!.
I have PJs with dogs on... and I know how much you love dogs. I might go out in them in a bit... just for you.

It has been explained to you several times why someone might be in PJs at the school run or in a shop.
You seem to think anything other then proper day clothing, make-up and jewellery means someone is morally corrupt.
I think you should listen to why some people might struggle with things like weighing up getting dressed or going out, and count your blessings you are not having to make the same choices.

Do you mean that judging should no longer take place? Like judging someone for rape and condemning them so they can no longer commit any harm?

ODFO with your faux naivety.

My dog has PJs too... and she has worn them on a walk. It was really cold and I had my PJs and a coat on, and she had her PJs and a coat on.
Fucking hell, call the cops. Double PJ whammy 😅

Yeah but this thread is about wearing pjs in public.

No, this thread is about you being rude about people not dressing how you see fit.

sashh · 03/06/2025 09:05

Many many years ago I went to see relatives in Australia.

I had been sent with a load of things for my younger cousins. One of their presents were sort of cotton one piece sleeping something, so not pyjamas but if you imagine pyjama bottoms attached to a cotton summer top.

Anyway, they loved them, they loved them so much they wore them to a party, we didn't tell them until afterwards that they were to sleep in.

Your earlier comment was challenging those who didn’t also put their makeup and jewellery on - why do you need those on to go shopping or do the school run?

Treesandsheepeverywhere · 03/06/2025 16:21

Funny how some don't want to be judged for wearing pjs as they have their reasons for wearing them, but judge other choices of clothing.

Simply because I want to look presentable. The same as most people going to work or out and about want to look presentable.

Sorry for your face.

I'd like to know where the breakfast buffet is that has customers in pyjamas! I must live a sheltered life :-).

It must be awful feeling so insecure that you need a face full of makeup and a load of jewellery to feel that you are presentable.
