To want to know why Imogen Poots broke up with James Norton

Obviously absolutely none of my business, but I don’t think anyone in my real life knows who these people are, so I’m sharing it here in case anyone shares my mini obsession.

Imogen Poots is a gorgeous 35 year old British actress who was engaged to James Norton (I’m guessing I don’t need to explain here who he is), they broke up in the last year or so and he’s indicated in interviews that it wasn’t his choice.

She’s suggested in past interviews that she wants children (which JN has also said he does). Definitely none of my business - but honestly if you were a 35 year old woman who wants kids and you were engaged to JAMES NORTON, would you break up with him?

I thought he was hot in a scary way in happy valley ( similar to Jamie Dornan in the fall) but that thing on itv where the babies had been swapped put me off him. He was so wet.

I'm sure he's lovely and he has a very nice Northern Irish lilt but theres something missing for me whereby he kind of leaves me cold also I've never seen him in a cardigan 🤣.

Ha just read the full thread and noticed others talking about Jamie Dornan. Jamie Dornan is definitely hotter by a long stretch. If anyone hasn’t seen The Fall you absolutely must!!

Also I remember seeing Jamie Dornan on Celebrity Gogglebox once and he didn't watch strictly and had no idea who Dave Arch and his orchestra is. Whoever was with him had to explain it all.

We certainly wouldn't be comparable on Saturday nights between September and Christmas.

I had time for James Norton (a friend knows his sister and family and says thet are lovely folk) until recently, when he signed a petition of luvvies complaining about the Supreme Court ruling that sex is biological and unchanging, calling for trans rights and supporting men who identify as women having access to women's toilets and changing rooms. JN is clearly not a man who supports women's right. Trans people have exactly the same rights as everyone else.

Fraid JN's now joined my list of famous woke idiots.

Yeah, getting any sort of positive feeling for him in Happy Valley wasn't a nice feeling. I then saw him in the most recent BBC War and Peace adaptation and he was a hot Andrei Bolkonsky which felt like a safe place to be. I caught him a couple of times in Granchaster and he was quite hot for a 1950s vicar. Not proper hot priest though (Andrew Scott) or hot rabbi (Adam Brody).

Health reasons? He has type 1 diabetes, it is not a walk in the park.

I actually don’t know who he is or recognise him, I was thinking of Edward Norton. But he’s surprisingly 55 according to the Google search I just did, so combine me not realising that with me not knowing who this James Norton is and I can see I am totally out of touch!

But, I have heard of Imogen Poots and seen her in things, and just from looking at those pictures I can’t see the attraction with this guy and I think she could do better. Also just because he said it wasn’t his choice, doesn’t mean it wasn’t his fault…maybe he cheated and she refused to accept it.

Kind and intelligent is what comes across in interviews, though as I say I know they’re curated and won’t be the whole story. A few posters above who’ve apparently met him have also said they found him kind. Re intelligence also, he went to Cambridge. I may be wrong in my impression but I’m not just basing it on the fact that he’s good looking!

Imogen also comes across in interviews as very intelligent and thoughtful.

Yep, type 1 diabetes - he says he injects himself upto 15 times a day with insulin and it runs in his family. Also he says in this interview he’s a terrible hypochondriac - my closest friend is one and I’d go mad living with her. I think he’s also religious or has more than a keen interest in religion (you’d have to be to study theology and he has admitted it) whereas I don’t think Imogen Poots is. Not agreeing on religion would be a deal breaker for most people.
