Reported guy to his workplace

So in the last house I lived in, the streets were VERY narrow. If anyone parked opposite the house, the entire turning circle space for our driveway was obstructed. Extremely annoying and I had no problem telling people to move if needed
Anyway, a guy on the next street over (not even a resident on our cul de sac!!!) And his wife had a HUGE drive. Could fit 6 vehicles easily. He chose to park his big ass work van in the very place it was an obstruction to 3 separate households. Selfish little man that he was. This was every night for 6 months of the year.
I approached the wife and the man in question who was an extremely aggressive - despite me being polite in the first instance said there were camera pointing at it etc etc - directly into all 3 gardens and 1 family had kids. I told her that I was going to be reporting the cameras to the relevant authorities and if he didn't move his van I would do the same with that. I bought a little camera immediately do I could get any footage as I knew the type of people they were with that interaction.
He then later that night aggressively revved his engine for over an hour......it was caught on my brand new camera that also had audio

The following day, I rang his workplace as did 5 separate neighbours all with footage and informed them that he was being a nuisance and blocking everyone in etc etc - told them of his aggressive behaviour when told to move etc
The next night, no van. The next 6 months it was parked on his drive. I kept the camera and actually got 3 more just in case I had any more issues.
I spoke directly to his boss who said any more issues email immediately- of course he didn't learn his lesson and started getting aggressive again and I then told him 5 sets of neighbours had footage of his behaviour and his employer would be informed. He lost his van after the last incident and his cameras moved.
My question is, was it a dick move considering how rude and disrespectful.he was to half the street?

I can't believe you actually did that! You seriously need to give yourself a shake, you should be ashamed of yourself as should the other five neighbours. I can't imagine what an awful areas it must be with all of you curtain twitchers in one wee area.

Velmy · 25/05/2025 05:21

I think it's possible that this guy played a silly game and won a silly prize, and that OP was a bit odd about the whole thing too.

He’s a dick but I think it’s pretty poor to jeopardise someone’s employment.

I can’t help but think how awful it would be to lose your job right now.

He did that, not the OP.

I reckon she's been drinking and has set herself off on a rant 🤣

This one is relatively normal compared with past ones!!

Itdidnttakelong · 25/05/2025 06:07

It’s the fact that the op bought 4, 4 cameras to record him

when one of the things the op was whinging to him about was his camera!

On the back if the house facing directly over my neighbours gardens and straight into my property!!! Looking at his precious van

but you had 4 cameras trained on him OP 😂

But its been going on for more than 6 months. Presumably, OP asked him to move every night so he would have known it was a problem.

OP I’d say phase 2 of this could be the hardest, where he becomes self employed or has a white van and will no doubt continue.

You did nothing wrong in complaining.

I thinks it's bloody weird how people report people to their employer. They are not teachers in school you are not children. How supremely odd.

It would be supremely odd to report to the employer if the vehicle in question was the man's private family car.

In this case it was a vehicle belonging to the employer presumably with logos and company details splashed all over it, causing a nuisance to the community. So it's not odd.

I think you need to re read the Op

apparently the van disappeared after the “last incident”

oh and this happened ages ago and the op no longer even lives at the property

Hannah55r · 24/05/2025 22:42

Plenty of stupid people out there and plenty that think this behaviour is acceptable. Let's hope they never experience it themselves

You are not remotely unreasonable to have reported his behaviour and I wouldn't lose a moment's sleep over it. Any fallout from you reporting him is on him entirely though I doubt he'll have learned his lesson.

However, you are that typical OP who starts a thread in a forum called Am I Being Unreasonable? apparently already 100% convinced of the rightness of your actions. Those types are not here to genuinely seek a sounding board on whether it was, as you say, a "dick move" and if there is anything they could have done better. They just want validation.

Consequently you take the arse and get snitty with anyone who disagrees or voices reservations about your actions. So for that reason, YABU.

If this is who I’m fairly confident it is, this is a PBP and I doubt will be back

It was his work van though, reporting it to his place of work is definitely the right thing to do.

GinAndJuice99 · 25/05/2025 15:59

He was almost certainly a menace to cyclists so it’s good he’s lost his van. Good job OP

Funnyduck60 · 25/05/2025 16:07

No. To be honest his employer was possibly looking for an excuse to get rid of someone who has such poor judgement anyway.
