Reported guy to his workplace

So in the last house I lived in, the streets were VERY narrow. If anyone parked opposite the house, the entire turning circle space for our driveway was obstructed. Extremely annoying and I had no problem telling people to move if needed
Anyway, a guy on the next street over (not even a resident on our cul de sac!!!) And his wife had a HUGE drive. Could fit 6 vehicles easily. He chose to park his big ass work van in the very place it was an obstruction to 3 separate households. Selfish little man that he was. This was every night for 6 months of the year.
I approached the wife and the man in question who was an extremely aggressive - despite me being polite in the first instance said there were camera pointing at it etc etc - directly into all 3 gardens and 1 family had kids. I told her that I was going to be reporting the cameras to the relevant authorities and if he didn't move his van I would do the same with that. I bought a little camera immediately do I could get any footage as I knew the type of people they were with that interaction.
He then later that night aggressively revved his engine for over an hour......it was caught on my brand new camera that also had audio

The following day, I rang his workplace as did 5 separate neighbours all with footage and informed them that he was being a nuisance and blocking everyone in etc etc - told them of his aggressive behaviour when told to move etc
The next night, no van. The next 6 months it was parked on his drive. I kept the camera and actually got 3 more just in case I had any more issues.
I spoke directly to his boss who said any more issues email immediately- of course he didn't learn his lesson and started getting aggressive again and I then told him 5 sets of neighbours had footage of his behaviour and his employer would be informed. He lost his van after the last incident and his cameras moved.
My question is, was it a dick move considering how rude and disrespectful.he was to half the street?

He’s a dick but I think it’s pretty poor to jeopardise someone’s employment.

I can’t help but think how awful it would be to lose your job right now.

Then don't behave in a dickish aggressive way, parking your company vehicle where it instructs others 🤷🏻‍♀️

@Hannah55r you didn't do anything wrong. You gave him fair warning.

The only person jeopardising his employment is him in his works van!

SusanLittle76 · 24/05/2025 20:54

Maybe you could submit some evidence to the council that double yellows are needed and supported by all households due to the turning circle requirement?

BobbyBiscuits · 24/05/2025 20:56

Hannah55r · 24/05/2025 20:51

Not at all. I call my closest friends it so it slips out now and again lol

Thank you, sorry if I misconstrued it x

We had a councillor look into permit only

Maybe he should have thought of that eh?

Act like a twat, there are consequences.

Er, what? He jeopardised his own employment.

HereComesAnUnpopularPoster · 24/05/2025 21:12

No! I do not think what you and your neighbours did was appropriate.
We have a police service who deal with harrassment and any complaints you have that are an illegal activity.

I could never agree to what you did as appropriate. Where does it stop

We stopped dishing out punishments and witch hunts en masse centuries ago for a very good reason .

Er, what? He jeopardised his own employment.

If he had simply said "oh I'm sorry ill park further up where it's wider" that would have been the end of it and it wouldn't have been in the way.....instead he chose to be aggressive and smug. Not just with me, but my elderly neighbours! So yes I did go to his employer.

What a sad indictment of the modern world

I don't follow? His anti social behaviour or someone calling him out?

nomas · 24/05/2025 21:18

Cursory · 24/05/2025 20:49

Nope. I’m the first to congratulate people on not being wet lettuces. I just think it’s a bit pathetic to exaggerate a story from years ago to win internet points.

Is there a statute of limitations on how old a story can be?

Maybe you should tell us the rules so we can abide by them.

Calling a woman pathetic for taking action is what’s sad here.

You are reporting him for inappropriate parking of a works vehicle which affects the company’s reputation. It’s up to the company what they do. If the person has previous then they may sack him but that’s up to the company not OP

You gave him every opportunity to resolve the issue. FAFO

TheGreyQuail · 24/05/2025 21:24

There are some real twats on this thread as well as the prat and his works van.
good for you OP, I can only guess that the posters being rude, would be fine with someone 'ruling' their road or being anti social. Or they are like it themselves.

FFS have a word with yourself, if a vrime isn't being commited I doubt the police are going to get involved unless the situation became worse with threats of violence.

Changmeagainname2025 · 24/05/2025 21:40

Do you usually ruminate over things that have happened in the past? You say last house you lived in, implying you've moved. Yet you still seem very angry about it.....

You should have reported him to the police.
So the matter could be dealt with appropriately and given that he was being aggressive towards you
I’m afraid being smug isn’t against the law so you can’t report that

YANBU @Hannah55r Good for you. And you are not ODD, ignore people saying you are. What a rude thing to say to you!

What's odd is posting this story, that apparently happened a long time ago, and which the OP is clearly in no doubt at all she is right about, in this place. What's she doing it for?

So witch hunting is the only response these days is it.
I really think people need to get a grip on this insanity.

Gather evidence, report to the police.
Thats how these issues are dealt with. There is a legal process.
The alternative a bullying tactics and no one is in the playground anymore.

If it was bullying his employers wouldn’t have disciplined him.

Hardly witch hunting😀The laq doesn't appwar to have been broken but it's good that some people have such faith in the police to sort these things out.
The van driver was actting in a selfish manner and the OP and her neighbours made their complaints to the company after speaking to the van driver failed.
No one has been bullied by anyone else.
