I’m going to turkey, Antalya may half term, aka in the next few days and despite being a scorcher this week, the weather next week looks pretty dismal. I’m so upset. The holiday wasn’t cheap, we booked it for the pool and beach and no it looks like for 4 days it’s going to be unusable.

is this something TI would cover if we cancelled?

can I call and change the booking? Obviously I’d have to pay more, but I think looking at the weather it looks so awful, it’s probably better than pissing away the £3k because we can’t use the facilities.

or should I just go and hope the weather changes?

wwyd

we booked with TUI

Travel insurance won’t pay out because you don’t like the weather forecast!

No TUI won’t let you change due to weather forecast!

But what forecast are you looking at as it’s best to find a local one which will be more reliable.

I always find things like BBC or similar forecasts of weather abroad completely inaccurate.

Muchtoomuchtodo · 23/05/2025 14:32

Travel insurance must definitely won’t cover you cancelling. You could ask Tui about changing dates but I would expect to pay a hefty premium.

It’s the end of the week that’s not looking so good - that’s the least reliable part of the forecast as it’s further away. Even on the not so good days it’s less than 50% chance of rain in the forecast app that I use. That doesn’t mean it’s definitely going to rain all day. Go! I bet you’ll have a great time.

I’ve looked on all of them lol

I think they let you change your booking for £50 per person and then I imagine the deficit to what the holiday at a later date would be x

Did you book the flex thing they offer? I’m not sure how that works. I think with such little notice it would cost you a lot of money but you will only know by ringing and asking.

The weather in Antalya next week looks fine bar a chance of rain next weekend?

i agree BBC and met office said my holiday would have 3 days of rain. We had one morning and then el scotchio. I’m sunbathing now.

I once asked Tui to change a booking a few months before because of a spate of terrible reviews. I said I’d take another hotel in the same resort and I wasn’t looking to alter dates or anything other than the hotel. They said it would be a 100% of original booking cancellation fee. Eg the same as just paying for a wholly new holiday. So I think you’ll need to pack a kagoul and a pack of cards.

Sparkleswirl · 23/05/2025 14:39

IME the weather is never as bad as the forecast. Even if it does rain, it won't be all day everyday and you can still use the facilities.

I’m on the phone to them now but I googled and it got lulled into a false sense of security with the £50 per person but less than 14 days, it’s 100% cancellation fee

yeah they just confirmed that to me…

im dreading it now, it’s going to be terrible. The weather is cold (comparatively) and raining, might have well just stayed home.

I bet it’ll be nowhere near as bad as you’re expecting it to be. Pack a thin waterproof and jumper each just in case but go and enjoy yourselves.

LlynTegid · 23/05/2025 14:55

Weather forecasts have always been pessimistic, the meteorologists don't want a repeat of 1987.

They won't let you change at this late stage. It will be a 100 percent cancellation fee

I'd just go. I'm sure the forecast won't be as bad as you think. Eve. If it rains a hit it will still be hotAnd you're still away relaxing no cooking etc.

Lozzam87 · 23/05/2025 15:12

I’m same as you going on weds and was really gutted when I saw the weather but it does keep constantly changing and from what I’ve read as the region is so large it can be different areas that might have the rain and the forecast will prepare for the worst if that makes sense. I’m just going to go with positive sun dance vibes x good luck

The whole area looks a bit of a wash out and we’re so remote there is nothing else there. I’m so gutted I could cry

You'd be mad to change regardless of the cost OP! Imagine, you pay to book different dates, and once again the forecast is crap!! Just go with the mindset that you're going to enjoy yourselves regardless of the weather.

I just know it’s going to ruin everything, it’s one of those hols where it is 99% pool and beach and therefore you’re beholden to the weather

Where exactly are you going that’s in the middle of nowhere? I reckon we can find you fun things to do even if you do have a bit of rain.
