I’m going to turkey, Antalya may half term, aka in the next few days and despite being a scorcher this week, the weather next week looks pretty dismal. I’m so upset. The holiday wasn’t cheap, we booked it for the pool and beach and no it looks like for 4 days it’s going to be unusable.

is this something TI would cover if we cancelled?

can I call and change the booking? Obviously I’d have to pay more, but I think looking at the weather it looks so awful, it’s probably better than pissing away the £3k because we can’t use the facilities.

or should I just go and hope the weather changes?

wwyd

we booked with TUI

Where exactly are you going that’s in the middle of nowhere? I reckon we can find you fun things to do even if you do have a bit of rain.

I just looked on the map and it’s quite far from Antalya and Alanya, closer to alanya but quite far from the airport

which weather site are you looking at? ignore BBC or any UK based site

Zanatdy · 23/05/2025 18:18

The forecast said the same when we were in Orlando during August each trip, but it never rained all day. I’d be surprised if it did.

Literally every website when you google weather alanya, they are all varying degrees of shit

The Weather app I just looked at showed up to 24° and just less than 50% chance of rain on three days. It will be lovely!

summerscomingsoon · 23/05/2025 19:00

5-7 days is still pretty long range - Id rather be in Turkey in the heat even with occasional rain than here. It won't rain constantly all day like it does here. I'm sure you will be pleasantly surprised. Please go and make the most of it :) If pools are heated kids won't even mind a bit of rain as it will still be mid 20s. Have a lovely time

that’s cold for me lol.

the pools are only heated in the winter season so not now.

i know I’m a bit of a winger but we’ve had a tough year ttc unsuccessfully, was really wanting to to be perfect

If 24 is cold for you then Turkey was probably not the best choice in the first place. Next time look at the tropics or somewhere is guaranteed 30 degrees plus :)

Sparkleswirl · 23/05/2025 14:39

IME the weather is never as bad as the forecast. Even if it does rain, it won't be all day everyday and you can still use the facilities.

That, and it changes its mind anyway, so whatever it says today might be totally different by Sunday!

Well the average temp in late may is 28 so figured we’d be ok… sadly not

if you want guaranteed really hot weather at this time of year, you’re better looking at places like Dubai.

BendingSpoons · 23/05/2025 20:17

Ah it's rubbish! We have had several holidays ruined by the rain or rubbish weather. Often there isn't much to do when the weather is poor. We went to Spain this Easter and had worse weather than the UK! I knew this was a gamble, but had hoped to at least see the sun lol.

I hope the weather forecast improves for you. If you are going with kids, I'd recommend them wetsuits to keep them warm when the weather is less good. It doesn't really help you though!

Dubai is scorching though. I’ve been this time of year before and it was high 30s.

turkey is meant to be high 20s, and if you look at this week gone by it was.

but lesson learned im not booking a may half term summer hols again. We’ll be going in July just before school breaks up

WOW! You really ARE a negative Nellie OP! Life is NEVER going to be perfect, how ever much we want it to be, so I think maybe it's time for you to change your way of looking at things, otherwise you will miss some of the best things in life, while you're so busy looking for the negatives.

Please come back and tell us how it goes, I'd love to know.

Spottyblobby · 24/05/2025 17:28

I feel your pain, we are off to side (between Antalya & Atlanta) arriving late Wednesday just in time for the bad weather. I was feeling really gutted, feeling sick from anxiety at having a bad holiday. But the kids have been great, trying to think of positives & fun things to do. They know it’s not going to be like previous holidays but today they had a water fight in the garden in 18 degrees so I think they will cope with 23/24. Like you I have been across every weather app under the sun the last few days desperately searching for one that tells me it will be sunny. It’s our only holiday this year so I can totally empathise, but we are luckier than most to have a holiday abroad so we have to consider that.

So you’re telling me if you spent £3k on a sun and sea holiday that you’d be like la lala it will still be great, when it objectively won’t due to the weather.

only the indoor pool is heated so all the facilities will be unusable

I think it's a mindset thing @Facingfears . I get you may feel disappointed but the money is spent so you can choose to completely ruin your trip by feeling upset or you can choose to make the best of it.

We have exactly the same, on holiday next week and the weather looks like it is going to rain all week but since we are going either way there's no point me moaning to DH and DDs and further spoiling the trip.

OMG you sound like the most miserable whinging person ever! Moaning Myrtle!

Stay at home and let the others go and have a great time without you!

Muchtoomuchtodo · 25/05/2025 09:51

The forecasts that I’ve looked at are looking much more sunny for the end of next week.

I’m sure you’ll have a fabulous holiday

Wtf?!? You're going on a holiday. It'll be 24C with a bit of rain. Sounds like amazing weather.

If you're down about something as insignifiant as that then you perhaps should spare a thought to less fortunate people...?

Seriously, you're coming across as self entitled spoilt brat.

Ginmonkeyagain · 25/05/2025 10:01

Mate - you can't cancel your holiday because you don't like the weather forecast, that's insane. If you wanted it to be warmer and sunnier you should have booked in July or August rather than May.

We’ll definitely make the most of it as there’s no other choice but I’m gutted, wish we’d chosen Izmir or somewhere else in turkey or saved the money for Disney world next yea
