Leftover takeaway wars

This really is lighthearted! And I'm going to use the annoying Person A/Person B despite it be absolutely clear which one I am (and that I'm obviously in the right).

Happily married couple get an Indian Takeaway for a rare treat.

Person A orders Chicken Bhuna*
Person B orders Lamb Dhansak*
Then they order a rice, a naan and a side to share.

Person A eats all the Chicken Bhuna, half the rice, half a naan and half the side.
Person B eats half the Lamb Dhansak, skips rice, half of the naan and spoonful of side dish.

Remaining is half the Lamb Dhansak, half the rice and nearly half of a side dish.

Who gets the leftovers?

Person A thinks they should be split and shared (perhaps with the addition of a bhaji or a samosa from the freezer). "All that I have, I share with you" etc

Person B thinks they are their leftovers, and they make a perfect size meal for one and Person A should keep their mitts off as they ate all their own yesterday.

Who is in the right?

YABU - Person A is right - split the leftovers. Caring is sharing.
YANBU - Person B is right and they are entitled to all of their leftovers.

(* I have changed the names of the dishes so as not to out myself 😂)

Person B ordered food they wanted and now they have a nice amount of leftovers for lunch the following day.

Person A needs to not even look at Person B's food.

Person A shouldn’t even IMAGINE Person B’s food!

Shedmistress · 22/05/2025 16:21

Person A ate his half.

Missey85 · 22/05/2025 16:21

Person B gets the leftovers it was their meal person A shouldn't have eaten all Thiers if they wanted some leftover 😊

What is this 'leftovers' of which you speak?

Last time we ordered Thai food from a food truck DS suggested we order him 2 main dishes next time as one was insufficient. He is 16 years old. Enough said!

However, if I ordered something and didn't finish it but wanted to save it for later or the next day then I would make it clear this is what I wanted. A label on the container e.g. If you eat this I will kill you, works.

Same here there's never leftovers! 😊 Maybe it's the takeaway version of the chicken that will magically feed you for a week? 😆

proximalhumerous · 22/05/2025 16:28

Obviously the leftovers belong to you Person B, however I nearly voted YABU as now I want a curry.

minnienono · 22/05/2025 16:30

in my house it’s always mine because I’m the leftovers fan. Not that we get takeaway curry since I learned to make proper Indian curry from scratch

Samesame47 · 22/05/2025 16:37

Not long after me and my DH moved in together we got an Indian, the following day I was very busy and had been looking forward to my leftovers all day, I spoke to him on the way home and he revealed he had already eaten it, I think it was the first time he ever experienced cross me and within 5 minutes of arriving home a delivery driver knocked on the door with my replacement! I actually wasn’t that cross to be fair but I did make it clear that I enjoy the leftovers more than the main event. Now when we have a takeaway we always order enough so that there is enough for another meal the next day - we have remained happy together ever since.

Koazy · 22/05/2025 16:42

Tell your H to fuck off and that he should order mlre next time if he wants left overs

Hollowvoice · 22/05/2025 16:44

(I'm sorry, I can't help myself)

PERSON B DOESN'T SHARE LEFTOVERS

SummertimeFeelingFine · 22/05/2025 16:47

Ahhh Joey.

Do you literally dump everything in a pot together.

I really hope that this is a metaphorical pot.

Our go to is Chicken madras/chicken jalfrezi/mushroom rice/saag aloo mixed and microwaved. Wouldn’t work for all dishes though but we like the same. Onion bhaji and naan bread heated separately.

Inertia · 22/05/2025 16:53

Didn’t share all the chicken bhuna that he had with you though, did he?

If A wanted enough food for leftovers and a full curry on the first night he should have ordered extra to start with. The leftovers being to B .

That said, poppadoms/bhajis/samosas are the best bit - you could have ordered those too and then had enough to both have leftovers.

Inertia · 22/05/2025 16:54

threenaancurrywhore · 22/05/2025 16:20

Person A shouldn’t even IMAGINE Person B’s food!

Pete , are you thinking about my bhunas?

CocoPlum · 22/05/2025 16:55

I would say person B BUT they should eat it the next day for lunch and not in front of the other person.

I'd probably say something like "this is too much for me to eat now, I'll take it to work tomorrow" and set out my stall straight away.

SummertimeFeelingFine · 22/05/2025 16:56

I mean seriously how hard is it to order extra so there's plenty for everyone the next day??

Icecreamstick · 22/05/2025 16:57

If I could make a meal for two and thereby a avoid anyone cooking for two days, I'd do that, regardless of whose food it was.

DappledThings · 22/05/2025 17:00

In our house there is no person A's or person B's food. Just food. So whatever is leftover is still for whoever wants to finish it. Or even person C, D, E or F if there have been guests over.

YABU.

MinnieMountain · 22/05/2025 17:01

I’m so glad DH and I had already planned to go out for curry tonight.

HeadNorth · 22/05/2025 17:02

I would be person A, I'd happily pad out and share my leftover takeaway with my DH. In fact, this would be so normal to me as to be unremarkable. He eats more than me, so it just makes sense.

SmallBirdie · 22/05/2025 17:02

B gets the leftovers. Greedy wanker men get a smack in the balls.

Agree😁

Also gives the possibility of adding side dishes to pad it out, which is the very best part of curry night.

I have also been guilty of mixing leftover curries together and calling it a made up name - it's usually quite delicious 😁

SpacedOutOut · 22/05/2025 17:03

You eat your own leftovers.
