Slightly light hearted, but I have to say reading the caption ‘A dump of the monthly variety’ has almost made me clam shut.

Please tell me I’m being ridiculous…

Yes, it’s a selection of photos!

have you been living under a rock ? it's ver yvery common phrase on insta 🤷‍♀️🙈

MuffinsAreJustCakesAtBreakfast · 14/05/2025 22:23

This thread is hilarious. Sharing photos is what instagram is for.

If this thread is anything to go by why not just dump him for having social media at all in the first place?! Go all out ... 😵‍💫

I wouldn't bat an eye lid at the phrase he used, and the expression doesn't belong to influencers. I don't know what issue is.

It’s all a bit cringe really, isn’t it?

How ? its used by millions of people around the world

Namechange7598 · 14/05/2025 22:27

My husband isn’t on any social media but this wouldn’t bother me. What bothers you, OP? My husband also doesn’t take any photos except of the dog, and that bothers me more. I have almost no photos of me with my kids because of it.

FrodoBiggins · 14/05/2025 18:52

It's very "most excellent of evenings m'lady" /fedora coded so I can see why you got the ick. If he's generally great I would try to ignore it. Tell yourself he's been hacked.

This. The wording sounds like my mother so I can’t help imagining a 60 year old’s ‘photo dump’. How old is he?!

RafaFan · 14/05/2025 22:35

I thought maybe he'd posted a photo of the OP implying that this was the girl he was dumping this month via social media.

I think people stopped saying ‘insta’ about 5 years ago also, very millennial as my students would tell me!

sorry I am old now then 🤣 it's still said on the reels I watch

Pricelessadvice · 14/05/2025 22:42

How old is he? A bloke (or anyone tbh) over 30, that would be a big no from me.

They weren’t a load of selfies were they? Men who take selfies make me feel ill.

no

if people want to look back at the highlight of their month, good for them

thestudio · 14/05/2025 22:49

This is why Alan Partridge exists - as a universal benchmark for women to measure their men against

ooh what do they say now?! I need to blend in.

MeatRaffleRita · 14/05/2025 23:01

It would be funny if he then just posted a couple of crap photos of random cat/dinner/scenery - in a piss take kind of way

knittasgonna · 14/05/2025 23:34

I guess I don't use SM enough to recognise that it was about a photo dump. My first thoughts went to the toilet, too, I'm afraid. 😬

We all say or write things from time to time that are somewhat cringeworthy. This doesn't seem that bad to me. I'd try to forget about it.

steff13 · 14/05/2025 23:37

So "photo dump" is not an ok phrase, but "the ick" and "clam shut" are both ok?

ShiningStar3 · 14/05/2025 23:40

My immediate reaction would be to imagine that he'd been holding in a poo for a month..

MumWifeOther · 14/05/2025 23:48

Men who post on social media give me the ick. Men who follow trends on social media give me the double ick

GravyBoots · 14/05/2025 23:51

Blimey. I'm old. It took me 2 glycerin suppositories and a Senokot.

I didn't want to write a song about it.

adviceneeded1990 · 14/05/2025 23:57

How old he is? Presuming over 20 or so I’d get the ick from this too. Wannabe influencers are cringe.

redcord · 15/05/2025 00:12

I don't think he's saying 'of the monthly variety' to be all olde worlde and hither and thither and so forth.

He is saying: here is a dump (you think I mean poo) of the monthly variety (tada! I meant photos, obvs).

MoetUndChandon · 15/05/2025 01:04

I thought that of the monthly variety meant something to do with periods. I also thought that Joey was a reference to Joey Deacon.

Tbrh · 15/05/2025 05:36

TinyTempest · 14/05/2025 18:43

It means he had a big shit and felt everyone needed to know about it for some reason.

OK I thought this. Clearly I'm getting old 😆 but also a photo dump is also lame, like anyone cares!

NoHardSelling · 15/05/2025 05:45

I know the phrase ‘photo dump’ from my Gen z daughter.

With this man, it’s the flowery language that makes me cringe most. The ‘monthly variety’ nonsense.

Though anyone over 25 using the phrase ‘photo dump’ also makes me roll my eyes a little. The under 25s I assume will grow out of it.

BooBooDoodle · 15/05/2025 18:05

I think you’re being a tad precious but then again, I’m 44. It was a photo dump. Does the word dump offend you? I had to read your post a few times to understand which kind of dump. Even dump in the taking a shit sense isn’t offensive surely?

catlover123456789 · 15/05/2025 18:13

I'm another one who thought he was talking about having a big poo.
A photo dump is fine lol
