To think voting for assisted dying legalisation could be a huge mistake???

MyLimeGuide · 14/05/2025 07:41

In Scotland they are voting to legalise assisted dying. Looking likely to pass. I am worried this will come to England now. Kier is already proving he doesn't care about old and disabled people so this scares me.
Obviously there are 2 sides but how can people be so ignorant? If passed this could be one of the biggest opportunity for corrupt evil behaviour of saving money on the NHS, care, people literally getting away murder, playing god! No not good. It's so scary.

No, you are like the Energizer Bunny.

I wonder what really drives you.

More please.

But sugar lips, we're discussing giving the state a right to take people's lives.

If we had a functioning NHS, a decent care service, good palliative care, excellent safeguarding against abuse, (which is currently at crisis level in the UK) and no option to change the criteria, then perhaps this would be a good idea.

Until then cherub, it's dangerous for vulnerable people.

Oh so your adamant about your stance but oh erm perhaps if this was a bit better and that was a bit different then it would be ok.

grapesandmelon · 17/05/2025 19:02

MiloMinderbinder925 · 17/05/2025 18:54

And why are you so blasé about people losing their lives?

Why are you so blasé about torturing dying patients?

DrPrunesqualer · 17/05/2025 19:02

MiloMinderbinder925 · 17/05/2025 18:04

This is the issue. Many don't care about anyone but themselves. Someone on here said that they'd be happy for the bill to be widened for anyone who wants to kill themselves.

We're dealing with a selfish society who make jokes about coercion. We have a crumbling NHS, barely any social care and there isn't the money to do this properly. We also have a society that sees the most vulnerable as scroungers.

I understand how some find this amusing but you'll have to excuse me not laughing along.

Well said 👏👏

You really dont get it. Bad people exist we all know that.

The projection is real for some. It's not me who doesn't get it.

Reports have already demonstrated that some men who have committed 'mercy killings' have in fact murdered their wives.

We are talking about legal assisted dying not mercy killings or murder. Get a grip

They can already do what they want if they want. Bad people always find a way. Bad eggs exist in the world it's not a reason to deny things for the rest of us.

Legalising their actions is not the answer.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 17/05/2025 19:22

Apologies for the repetition, but with all this talk about legal processes it remains VERY noticeable that not one of the advocates has chosen to comment on the much-promised judicial hearings for each case being scrapped

Quelle surprise ...

WhereIsMyJumper · 17/05/2025 19:26

Assisted dying won’t be mandatory assisted dying.

You can draw comparison with abortion laws. Will some mothers very sadly be coerced in to getting an abortion? Or decided to get one because they can’t afford to raise a baby because of the COL? Yes. And that does break my heart…. But that doesn’t mean we should make it illegal, either.

Oh dear.

A mercy killing is where you kill someone in pain or dying.

A report found:

Of the 100 UK “mercy killings” over 25 years, the report found that 88 per cent of perpetrators were male, and 78 per cent of female victims were neither terminally ill nor willing to die but were often elderly, disabled or infirm.

Killings were frequently triggered by care demands and involved excessive violence, with “overkill” – the use of unnecessary brutality – common.

They do it anyway dont they. They know what they do is illegal and still do it, those types of people will never change.

When a women gets pregnant and sees her doctor or midwife about it they don’t ask if she’d like an abortion.
Doctors and midwife’s are not required to point out all options

The two instances are completely unrelated

Right well that doesnt apply to the process of assisted dying. Illegal brutal mercy killing is totally different.

It's evidence of the homicide of the elderly, infirm and ill by abusers in order to alleviate their 'suffering'.

Not to mention 'a report found' - what report? Your own comment refers to those women not being terminally Ill and not wanting to die. Totally different to the assisted dying bill. Just you stick to the feminist threads as its obvious where your mind is working on this.

Calling other posters 'sugar lips' and 'cherub' is hardly being mature. You sound extremely patronising and self-righteous.
