Comfortable Trainers

AIBU to never be able to find a pair of comfortable trainers.
We are talking walking about towns/ cities, generally weekend trainers/ days/ evenings etc.

I've tried many brands. Maybe I'm too old..

I like Skechers, I do 10-15k steps a day and always comfy in them. I feel like trainers are a very personal thing though.

Ooral · 12/05/2025 23:22

Another vote for Skechers...

Aquarius1234 · 12/05/2025 23:26

I haven't bought sketchers for ages as I thought they came up big.
I buy 6 always. But I'm not exact.

I always tend to go for the appearance of trainers. Then of course regret it. But my main issue is not having the correct size feet for sketchers.

I find the sizing okay, they do half sizes which is good as I’m between a 5 and 6, so the 5.5 is ideal. I have the slip-on ones which I really like. I’ve worn them every day since Sept pretty much and they get quite a lot of steps and they still look in good shape.

Toetouchingtitties · 12/05/2025 23:32

New Balance are my go to comfy trainers. They come in a decent number of styles too.

Keepingittogetherstepbystep · 12/05/2025 23:34

Oddly I can't stand sketchers.

I've got some really comfy Nike air monarch and some reebok work and cushion. Comfort comes first for me though as hypermobile.

Aquarius1234 · 12/05/2025 23:44

I've got some city type new balance trainers. Were hard at first then okay.
Id just love some trainers where you don't get sore toes/ little blisters after a few miles. Hardly talking 10 mile hikes.

Asics are my favourite trainers. I have quite awkward feet, with wide toes and narrow heels, so finding anything to fit can be tricky. I have Gel Pulse 15 for the gym which have a fairly wide toe box and are like walking on air. I also have a pair of their (cheaper) Patriot13, also comfortable but simpler in design.

These trainers are not fashionable at all (except maybe for running/exercise) but they are very light and easy to wear.

Aquarius1234 · 12/05/2025 23:51

I wear out the material at the front where my big toe goes. After a few months of wearing converse type trainers. But a size 6 fits.. or maybe they don't if a hole forms after a while.. ouch.

Oh and my socks rarely get holes in. So my toe nails are fine.

Skechers wear out far too quickly and just don't fit me at all.

I bought a pair of On Cloud 5, last year and they are extremely comfortable. Unfortunately I've just looked them up and they've been replaced by cloud 6 with a broader openening so probably won't fit me As PP, I have a wide toe and narrow heel.

whatthesigma · 12/05/2025 23:57

New Balance. I wore a new pair on a city break without wearing them in walking 20 miles one day. Soooo comfy. And great styles.

Seen those recently. Reminds me of trainers from late 90s / 2000s maybe..
Retro. But if they are comfortable.

Sketchers ... Yes I know but so comfortable

Wow. I'm guessing yours aren't these type : -
New Balance - T500 Trainers

As they aren't particularly comfortable after a mile or two.

Edited

I have a wide toe. Not sure about heel tho.
Yeh I hate when everyone says buy sketchers they are what you need! When they don't even fit. I think they are unattractive but if they are comfortable then I'll get two pairs..
Adidas gazelle are crap also very quickly.

Thanks to your thread I've just bought another pair of the On trainers I have, 20% off 😊

AllyDally · 13/05/2025 00:24

I have so many pairs of skechers, I love them, they do so many types, I have the sports ones which are really supportive, also slip ons which are comfy then also the ones that are patterned that look nice but not as comfy for long walks etc. Apparently they are only acceptable for over 40s according to my 17 yo.

AllyDally · 13/05/2025 00:26

Oh and I am a size 4 in pretty much all shoes, same for skechers. I have really narrow feet though.

They do them in half sizes now. Try the slip ons. They are amazing.

thetorturedpoetsdepartmentssecretary · 13/05/2025 00:38

I have quite painful feet and swear by Adidas Cloudfoam trainers. I also find Skechers Arch fit comfortable.

Mylegishangingoff · 13/05/2025 00:43

I have sensitive feet, they protest loudly if my shoes aren't right. I use Ons for running and can run for miles without so much as a whimper from my feet. My everyday walking the dogs etc ones at the minute are Adidas adizero. Shoes are such a personal thing though, feet are all so different that it's really trial and error to find the right ones.

PoopingAllTheWay · 13/05/2025 00:45

Sketchers.
Mine cost £120 but they are so worth it and feel like walking on cushions
I have super wide feet and swollen ankles
(Not the slip ons)

PoopingAllTheWay · 13/05/2025 00:49

These for my wide swollen feet. They are great
