To give up on getting rid of my verrucas?

So I’ve had Veruccas for like 5 years and they won’t go away for anything. They don’t really bother me so I’m thinking about just giving up and just living with them. But it would be nice if they would go away because I would like to be able to get wear sandals and get pedicures again. :)

You need to negotiate with them. What do they want? What can you offer them? Gain their trust.

Either that or freeze them off.

CocoPlum · 10/05/2025 08:46

Have you tried Thuja cream? V cheap on amazon and amazingly effective.

FrenchandSaunders · 10/05/2025 08:47

I had an horrific one on the side of my foot for years. Nothing over the counter worked … went on a weekend away with a hot tub and it disappeared a week later.

God knows what chemical they use 🤷🏼‍♀️

DeepWriter · 10/05/2025 08:47

I’ve tried freezing but they always come back :(

If the home remedies won't work, see a chiropodist.

Gnarab24 · 10/05/2025 08:48

I had one for 12 years before I finally made a very determined effort to get rid of it. I figured it was here to stay otherwise.
I used high strength bazuka for 4 months (the instructions say only 2 weeks) and eventually it went.
It was a frustratingly tenacious virus though.

DeepWriter · 10/05/2025 08:49

I honestly think I have. I’ve tried so many things.

I had one for 5 years, tried everything including freezing. In the end Wart Away from Holland and Barrett worked in a matter of days

CompletelyFlopped · 10/05/2025 08:50

I had one as a teen/early twenties that was there for about 5 years. It was huge and I tried everything! Even tried cutting it out myself a couple of times (vv painful!! Don't advise!!) but even cutting bits of it off it still persisted and grew back!

I eventually reached the end of my tether and thought I'd have to live with it forever, and then it went! I feel like it was simply there to annoy me and when I couldn't be bothered to fight the bugger anymore, he decided to piss off!

So...yours is probably about to disappear if it's own accord! If it doesn't - go to the doctor and ask them to remove it for you. I wish I had done that (in hindsight!)

Notsuchafattynow · 10/05/2025 08:51

The only thing that worked for us was black gaffer tape freshly applied each night. Worked imeadatly.

DeepWriter · 10/05/2025 08:52

Yeah it’s such a frustrating virus! My sister had Veruccas for years and I then I got them from sharing shoes with her. I had known how contagious they were I never would have! I’ve tried bazuca but maybe I should try it longer!

WhySoManySocks · 10/05/2025 08:52

Mine went away when I froze them much more aggressively than the Bazuka kit said I should. More frequently and for way way longer.

Not recommended but…

FortyElephants · 10/05/2025 08:54

I had one foot totally covered with verucas when I was a teenager (not the whole foot, the ball and bottom of the toes) - so many that the doctor couldn't even freeze them with any real impact. Eventually after I'm not sure how many years (but I was early 20s) I noticed one day they had just vanished. I must have eventually killed the virus. It does go away eventually.

DeepWriter · 10/05/2025 08:55

I’m hoping mine will go away on their own soon too! I’ve got around 10 verrucas.

Try a menthol-based cream. About 6 years back I had one that had literally been there for years and couldn’t shift with the removal stuff, then I started using a menthol/peppermint type food cream and after a month or so it began to disappear and then went completely. But you have to apply it very regularly I found.

GargoylesofBeelzebub · 10/05/2025 08:56

Duct tape was very effective for my DD.

Misshollys · 10/05/2025 08:57

Tried everything with bad one's on Ds feet. We did chiropodist each summer for 3 years, multiple visits, they'd disappear but come back again.
Then tried salatac gel, it took a few months, I'd file them down with the rough side of a big emery board after he soaked his feet and then applied the gel. We did this every few days and slowly they started to reduce in size and he's a few years clear now.

GlidingSquirrels · 10/05/2025 09:00

Keep at it, are you filing them and using the gel every couple of days then covering each time?
We used blister plasters over them after each treatment for the DC, the combination of treatment and covering eventually killed them off. They go black then eventually pull off with the plaster once the vurruca dies.

squarepegroudhole · 10/05/2025 09:01

I have 5 in a cluster. They just look like hard skin. They won’t go. Been here years. Tried eveything including the professional route. Chiropodist told me they are persistent and often their freezing treatment can cause them to grow again in other areas.

Calliopespa · 10/05/2025 09:02

DeepWriter · 10/05/2025 08:49

I honestly think I have. I’ve tried so many things.

Duct tape?

DeepWriter · 10/05/2025 09:04

Yep :) I put it on them for around 2 months. But they didn’t go away.

jellyfish3 · 10/05/2025 09:04

I had these. The doctor had told me to freeze, then file them. The filing them was spreading them and making them worse. As soon as I stopped filing them they got better and eventually went away. May not be an issue for you but in case this helps.

Vegemite123 · 10/05/2025 09:05

See a podiatrist - there are treatments such as needling and swift that have a higher (albeit not 100%) success rate. Or just ignore them! If they don’t cause you a problem, just wait and they’ll probably go eventually.

scrumble767 · 10/05/2025 09:06

DD had them for ages on one foot, we eventually got rid of them by covering with clear nail polish every night. Horrible things.

Goldenmimx · 10/05/2025 09:08

Bee propolis liquid applied straight on the verruca worked on one I had for about ten years but you have to be persistent
