To give up on getting rid of my verrucas?

So I’ve had Veruccas for like 5 years and they won’t go away for anything. They don’t really bother me so I’m thinking about just giving up and just living with them. But it would be nice if they would go away because I would like to be able to get wear sandals and get pedicures again. :)

I had loads for years and then made a concentrated effort. Froze them and went in with cuticle clippers and cut loads of dead skin away. Filed everything down. Refroze a week later more self surgery, Repeated a couple more times must of triggered an immune response as the skin healed like normal and never had one since inn25 years.

Thuja tablets worked for my DD, just watched it disappear over a matter of days

elaeocarpus · 10/05/2025 12:49

Cover them in Nail varnish, black or very dark colour, reapply every couple of days

I’m with you. Childbirth got rid of several I had across both feet for 5 years. A whole new set then quickly appeared and I’m 10 years in with these ones.

I’ve managed to cut the majority out countless times and treat with high strength bazuka but they persist. I’ve tried so many different things and I don’t have the money or the will to keep throwing at them.

I’ve had them since I was a child and honestly don’t remember a time anymore where I didn’t have verrucas!

same. I feel like I’ve had problems with verrucas since I was around 4.

The only thing that has ever worked for me and my family is Bazuka Advance Treatment Pen.

How many do you have? I have 10.

Cripes! 10 of them.😱

OP, have you been checked for any deficiencies? Are you immunosuppressed? Several conditions can make your more susceptible to verruca's and 10 as an adult seems an awful lot! I'd suggest speaking to your GP about blood tests, then as I suggested up thread, seeing a dermatologist. Especially as you've said you've had them frozen many times which didn't help.

Arcticsway · 10/05/2025 17:38

I've had verrucas since I was about 20, but only ever had one at a time. I have never done anything to get rid of them, I wait for them to go on their own. I think my first one lasted 6 or 7 years, but the ones after that have only lasted a year or two. They don't bother me so I ignore them, and I notice one day they've disappeared.

Solasum · 10/05/2025 17:44

Sit with your feet in peat for as long as you can. Repeat until they disappear. Maybe out of sight of your neighbours!

OverpricedCupcake · 10/05/2025 17:45

I've given up on mine, it's on my little toe and doesn't bother me really.
I've tried everything over the years though, snd still was until recently when I decided to just leave it.

Baggingarea · 10/05/2025 17:46

I'm sure you are fine but perhaps you have an underlying issue (ie autoimmune problem) which is causing your body to not be able to get rid of the virus (even after freezing).

I had two for months and tried everything. Then I slightly broke the skin on my foot next to one while filing, by accident. The verruca was gone in a couple of days. I then nicked the skin of my foot deliberately next to the other verruca, and then that one fell out too.

However, I'd just started trying Wartner pens at the time, so maybe it was the pen that did it.

This worked for me too, I have no idea why!

eggsandwich · 10/05/2025 18:03

My son had 3 large ones on the bottom of one foot, I put tea tree oil on them, 2 weeks later I noticed they had gone, but it may of been pure luck, I did the same with a wart on my daughters finger, very swollen and painful as it was next to the nail bed, used tea tree and it cleared up

ThisPoisedGoldGuide · 10/05/2025 18:08

I had one for 11yrs, tried absolutely everything. Randomly disappeared while I was pregnant! I was over the moon.

The only thing that worked for us was black gaffer tape freshly applied each night. Worked imeadatly.

That's interesting. I never really understood what gaffer tape is. Is it gorilla tape please ? Can you give any remote idea how you think this method worked please?

Rabidbunnyrabbit · 10/05/2025 18:20

I had a little forest of the beggars on the side of my right foot when I was 16-17, sort of in an island of tiny black holes.

I ignored them. My family situation was...erm...unsupportive.

One day a lump fell off and it looked like a desert island that had been hit by a nuclear blast which left the trees like burnt but bleached out matchsticks.

Nasty memory. Yack yacky yack yack. You have my condolences for having to look at the ugly little bastards upon your own body. Luck be with you.

Arcticsway · 10/05/2025 18:21

@Liz1tummypain Sticky tape (gaffer, duct, or whatever) is a recognised removal method. Any strong sticky tape will do.

I was going to try it but I kept forgetting, then the verruca went on its own.

We just used what we had in the garage, but it was probably some kind of tape that's used for outside guttering?

I think it starves the verruca and makes it damp and sweaty and one night, when removing the tape, the 'core' came away too.

This was after months of different types of ointments etc. My DC would not allow any filing etc but could cope with a new square each night. Actually, his feet were quite sweaty so the strip hand to go right round his foot.

Thanks so much, Arctic ! I'm going to give that a go. Here's hoping in 2 months mine will be gone. Bless you for that link :)

My teenage son had loads on the bottom and side of his first two toes. GP offered no help at all. We tried every type of home remedy but nothing worked and eventually we gave up and I was planning to book him in with a podiatrist. Then over New Year he was ill with a high fever and about a month later he told me they'd all gone. They had been there for several years and one was about 1cm in size. So maybe the fever kicked his immune system into dealing with them - or maybe it was just time for them to go.

Lemsipper · 10/05/2025 18:45

THICK layer of sudocrem…duct tape, sock on, leave uninterrupted for 1 week. No, don’t check it. Don’t wash it. Don’t reapply anything.

Lovesgreen · 10/05/2025 18:48

I recommend the Miaderma Wart Away from Holland and Barratt as well. My daughter had 12 verruca's on 1 foot (it had spread I think from using a sandal on holiday that must have had the virus on) we tried everything for a year. I applied this once a week three weeks in a row and job done. It's very strong so follow instructions to the letter. Need to protect surrounding skin.

Can I ask what age was your daughter? I have a dd aged 11. Would it be safe to use?

Katemax82 · 10/05/2025 18:52

Have your immune system checked. This was advised after a girl on embarrassing bodies had a really bad verruca that wouldn't go

Thepossibility · 10/05/2025 18:53

I finally got rid of my DS extremely stubborn one by bandaging a a bit of cotton with tea tree on it after using the wart treatment every few days. I was determined! It still hasn't come back, months later.

From memory she was 13/14
It's a homeopathic remedy
