Sick of vile, rude teenagers

DD was learning about VE Day at school and got wine a few of her friends would be going down to the war memorial this afternoon for the remembrance event. She asked if we could go so I said I would walk her there for 20 minutes so she could quietly see what was going on before bedtime (it’s just round the corner).

We arrived but there was a group of about 8 teenagers sat in the middle of the square making an absolute scene of themselves. Shouting obscenities, vaping, running around, showing off to each other and rolling about on the floor. After 10 minutes of this, having seen the exasperation on the faces of some very elderly people who clearly felt too vulnerable to call them out, I went over and told them to stop embarrassing themselves and to go if they were just there to make a scene. Of course they carried on (although a few seemed to back down). They actually looked shocked like they’d never been told off in their lives. They probably hadn’t.

I’m just so sick of it. These types are everywhere. They’re absolute losers who will likely do nothing with their lives and cost us all a fortune. I know it’s not PC to say it but it’s true - I feel like these types are everywhere, bullying people who are unlikely to respond while leeching off the state.

I absolutely accept teenagers act out and fully expect that (in a secretive and limited way), but this was just so disrespectful and it was so disheartening to see yet another event ruined by yobbos.

I expect I’ll be told IABU.

I think you were officious and annoying.

She should have just ignored it?

Why?

I completely agree, it must be very area dependent judging from this thread. In our town, groups of teens keep using catapults to kill birds and other small animals. Incidents are posted almost daily into local fb groups, slightly different areas so lots of different kids involved too. Really worrying! The town centre is pretty much a no go zone after 3pm. Well aware it’s not every teen but it’s certainly getting worse where I live.

Oh absolutely not but that’s a niche area isn’t it? Generally people you see shouting obscenities in the street, stealing etc are from the underclass.

Again, you are casually conflating two quite different things. Rowdy anti social behaviour and theft. You started this thread specifically about teens behaving badly, disrespectfully, drunk and swearing in the street. Whenever I give you examples to show that this is not restricted to the demographic you state, you move the goal posts.

You gave me 1 niche example - protests - which wasn’t what happened today. Nice try though

@blushroses6 where I used to live, gangs of these wee scrotes would actually travel especially to go round booting doors, damaging cars and throwing bricks through windows for their evening's entertainment, then leg it to the station when they'd had their fun. Went on for months, police of course did fuck all. Probably still going on but I moved.

YANBu

i live in a town with absolutely vile teenagers constantly causing trouble especially with the police! They’re awful, and the parents aren’t much better (I work in a shop and see them all)

Dodgejam · 17/06/2025 18:59

I was on the thread you started about your pretty “vile” DH and how he responds to even a whiff of stress @Nunaluna

i Imagine he was a teen just like this

What’s pathetic is turning up to a war memorial event to ruin it in front of some people who looked in their late 90s and probably lost friends if they weren’t directly affected themselves. I don’t even care any more, these types need dealing with.

Tbf I can,t magine there are many adults still alive that fought in the 2nd world war they would have to be at least 98 to have just about seen active service.
But agree people shouldn't spoil thees events.

Then you’re very lucky, or live in a wealthy area (do you?)

I don't think that's fair there have always been badly behaved teens in all walks of life the majority are fine but when a few of the badly behaved ones get together they csn cause havoc.

‘The underclass’? Nice.

Our area is currently plagued by teenage shoplifters and kids tearing round on stolen motorbikes. I challenged two trying to steal stuff last night and they did put the stuff back but I've no doubt they tried again once I'd gone. Staff can't do anything they are everywhere nicking stuff.

I was visiting my son at Uni in Lancaster last week and the town centre pedestrianized area was plagued by gangs of rowdy kids on bikes alongside the adult drunks and addicts. It was grim. Most still in school uniform , it was around 3.30.
