Sick of vile, rude teenagers

Nunaluna · 08/05/2025 18:36

DD was learning about VE Day at school and got wine a few of her friends would be going down to the war memorial this afternoon for the remembrance event. She asked if we could go so I said I would walk her there for 20 minutes so she could quietly see what was going on before bedtime (it’s just round the corner).

We arrived but there was a group of about 8 teenagers sat in the middle of the square making an absolute scene of themselves. Shouting obscenities, vaping, running around, showing off to each other and rolling about on the floor. After 10 minutes of this, having seen the exasperation on the faces of some very elderly people who clearly felt too vulnerable to call them out, I went over and told them to stop embarrassing themselves and to go if they were just there to make a scene. Of course they carried on (although a few seemed to back down). They actually looked shocked like they’d never been told off in their lives. They probably hadn’t.

I’m just so sick of it. These types are everywhere. They’re absolute losers who will likely do nothing with their lives and cost us all a fortune. I know it’s not PC to say it but it’s true - I feel like these types are everywhere, bullying people who are unlikely to respond while leeching off the state.

I absolutely accept teenagers act out and fully expect that (in a secretive and limited way), but this was just so disrespectful and it was so disheartening to see yet another event ruined by yobbos.

I expect I’ll be told IABU.

Were they all males or a mix?

A mix - the worst behaved were the girls, who seemed to be showing off to the boys. The girls carried on but the boys mostly shut up, interestingly. I was sure I would be ignored or in for a mouthful from them!

You're just looking for negatives. Most people, young and older, are decent and nice.

Did I say most people aren’t?

Ugh.

I do hate Klaus Schwab but am starting to agree with him about “useless eaters”.

Are you just looking for a row? Are you really bored?

RJ2023 · 08/05/2025 20:46

You should watch the film "Eden Lake" - one of the best horror films I have ever seen.

itsgettingweird · 08/05/2025 20:46

I’m not sure it’s teens in general. I work with teens and ds is an athlete so trains with them and so I see many really good ones who are dedicated and support those who need a suitable role model.

But in life there are always a small minority with no respect for anything or anyone. I dont even think they notice they are ruining an event for everyone else because their world revolves around them.

Teens though can change with the right attitude and guidance and people not being afraid to point out the obvious to them.

Im more fronted by adults who behave in this way and don’t even have the good grace to accept no one wants them ruining the ambience or decorum of such an event - or worse still set out to deliberately ruin the event.

Those teens absolutely were behaving appallingly. But it’s sad they havent had the right guidance in life to make the right choices. Good on you for calling them out. I hope they do have a future and aren’t written off as “losers” as they have plenty of future ahead of them to become decent members of society.

I’m working class (lorry driver dad). This is absolute rubbish. Pop into a local court room and then report back on the backgrounds.

I doubt I'd learn much to disprove my observations in a court room. As far as I'm aware being 'rude and vile' it's not a matter for the courts.

unsync · 08/05/2025 20:47

Pair this thread with the one about not having a 3 and a 5 year old under control and them running rings around the mother. It's not hard to see where some of this behaviour comes from is it?

I’ve heard about it, but couldn’t bring myself to watch! It sounds horrific. Harry Brown was amazing however, but very upsetting in parts.

We weren’t discussing whether they should be arrested. You said background isn’t a factor in bad behaviour or crime. It absolutely is. You know this. You’re pretending not to understand.

@Nunaluna

"These types are everywhere."

"I know it’s not PC to say it but it’s true - I feel like these types are everywhere,"

Admittedly you do back track later...

As for...

"They’re a lost cause. They don’t even look right, mentally"

How the actual fuck can you tell? Absolutely abhorrent.

You sound understandably disillusioned with your job and could clearly use a career change for your own sake and that of the people you work with.

Suszieq · 08/05/2025 18:39

Interesting that you bemoan the attitudes of teenagers and then say they’re “losers” who will do “nothing” with their lives.

You’re the adult here and to have that attitude is pathetic.

Statistically though she is probably correct that these disruptive people are more likely to be a dis benefit to society rather than a benefit, they are more likely to financially take from the country than they contribute and lastly will most likely provide worse parenting to their children than they received from their own parents.

Of course this is a broad generalisation and there will undoubtedly be exceptions but overall it's broadly correct.

HellsBellsTrudy · 08/05/2025 20:53

I can’t help but agree, we’re moving house and one of the reasons is the amount of teenagers like this hanging around (admittedly we’re near a corner shop) but they’ve also taken to smoking weed and wearing balaclavas and I don’t want y family anywhere near it.

Kids will be kids but there is a difference in what you see a lot of these days, and OP is right that they thrive because people are too scared to say anything (I am!)

ArtTheClown · 08/05/2025 20:56

YABVU to frame this as a problem with working class teenagers. Because that's what you mean, isn't it?

It's not a working class issue. It's what people refer to as the underclass - in not sure if there's a politer term for it.

Working class people are far less likely to handwring and make excuses for it than the well meaning middle class though.

JudgeJ · 08/05/2025 20:56

mumofoneAlonebutokay · 08/05/2025 20:34

Shame on you. The kids you're supposed to protect might not be perfect but they don't deserve to be labelled losers and have you assume that they will end up on benefits.

Do better and if you hate the financial status of the community you serve so much, do something else

Another example of the need for a bollocks button!

I said that background is not the factor you a framing it as in the behaviour you are describing- specifically hanging around being rude and rowdy. It was you not I that moved that on to arrestable offences by suggesting my point would be disproved by a visit to court. Yes, underprivileged children are more likely to end up in court. But rude disrespectful behaviour is not the preserve of lower income children. So either stick to the point or make another one, rather than conflating two seperate things just to sound as though you're right when ime, you're not.

Yet to hear a posho shout ‘you fucking cunt’ at a war memorial event.

I’d be blaming their parents not them, they’re just kids at the end of the day. And kids will be disrespectful little shits if they haven’t been taught not to be by their parents

Nr me, 7 or 8 13/14 yo's called a young man "gay" and other such names, they then went after him, forced him to the ground, held his arms behind his back and kicked him repeatedly in the head, they then ran off laughing, leaving him covered in blood.

The Police arrested some of them because of CCTV and eye witness cameras but what in reality will happen? nothing at all.

i wish we'd bring back the Birch for these scum, stop using short sentences and teach these thugs actions have consequences.

Then maybe you need to move in more affluent circles. Have you never seen university students protesting? Defacing monuments, urinating in the street, holding signs with disgusting threatening slogans? Do you think they all come from homes with parents on benefits?

Oh absolutely not but that’s a niche area isn’t it? Generally people you see shouting obscenities in the street, stealing etc are from the underclass.
