Be brutally honest - does this suit me?

Ok little backstory - I’ve lost around 27lbs in the last few months and I’m still on a long weight loss journey but starting to feel a little bit more confident.
My belly is my by far my biggest insecurity.
Been shopping for a new summer wardrobe and saw this dress - I think I’ve never worn a dress in my life due to my deep weight insecurities but this dress somehow spoke to me and I bought it!
But now I’m not sure - it fits great but I feel it draws attention to my big belly?! Should I keep it? I don’t know.
I know it should be only me and my opinion that matters and how I feel but please tell me does it really fit me? Is it flattering?
Thank you!

I think it looks lovely on you, honestly.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr · 06/05/2025 18:47

I think it looks lovely on you. I agree with others that the second photo is irrelevant because you won't be holding your tummy in real life!

I think a chunky, brightly coloured bracelet would set it off nicely.

outerspacepotato · 06/05/2025 18:50

Brutally honest, it's not the greatest but it looks fine to go out and about in. I do think a longer sleeve would balance a bit better. The 90s stripey and floral and batik dresses are a bit of a warm weather trend here, my eldest has liberated a few of mine.

How do you feel in it?

Whatthebarnacles · 06/05/2025 18:55

I think you look great! I'd love to be your shape and size and if I was, I'd totally wear it!

Bloozie · 06/05/2025 18:59

Pattern and fit absolutely distracts from belly. Just don't stand holding said belly like that... ;-) and you'll be grand.

Springhassprungxx · 06/05/2025 19:00

I love it on you op!

5128gap · 06/05/2025 19:00

I don't think anything is flattering on anybody if you're going to grab your stomach in both hands and thrust it to the fore OP! However if you're intending on just walking around and sitting there like a normal person, it looks very nice.

Properchips · 06/05/2025 19:00

If you like it, if you feel good in it, then be confident in it - what others think is always subjective and it's all in the eye of the beholder.

ForOliveMember · 06/05/2025 19:00

Hard to say from those two photos, since I assume you don't walk around holding your belly like that 😅

Probably could be a little looser over the tummy area, maybe try a dress that skims over that area.

desperatelyseekingholidays · 06/05/2025 19:02

Sorry, I don't think is suits you and the style of dress is a bit old fashioned

chattychatchatty · 06/05/2025 19:04

I said YANBU because I think it suits you; is that the right way round?! It looks good on you and if you want to wear it then you should. Congratulations on the weight loss!

Feelingmuchbetter · 06/05/2025 19:04

I have an uneasy feeling about this thread. Why would you post a photo holding your stomach like that op? And then asking if it’s flattering ?

Goody2ShoesAndTheFilthyBeast · 06/05/2025 19:05

Looks absolutely fine from the front. What's it like from the side?

Boreded · 06/05/2025 19:05

I like it. I hope you have posted where it is from but if not then please do

Neveranynamesleft · 06/05/2025 19:08

Hard to tell from the pictures, a side view would help. If you are really conscious of your stomach area maybe go up a size, but not if it looks / feels too baggy.

bluesinthenight · 06/05/2025 19:09

I think it looks great. You have a lovely shape. Why did you do that thing with your hands to accentuate your tummy?

Guavafish1 · 06/05/2025 19:12

It’s fine - comfortable

not my style

Doggymummar · 06/05/2025 19:15

I thinks it's supposed to be a Bardot top isn't it? I think it looks great in the first picture.

AgnesX · 06/05/2025 19:17

Without seeing it full length it looks fine. A pair of big knickers to smooth your midriff will help too.

Iwanttoliveonamountain · 06/05/2025 19:22

I think it looks really nice on you. The colour suits your colouring and the shape is flattering. And it’s not that kind of try too hard look either

namechangeGOT · 06/05/2025 19:22

I think it looks fine! It’s not my favourite dress in the world but it doesn’t look bad! Personally I’d wear it with some high waisted spanx or even a ‘wear your own bra’ body suit shaper if you feel a bit uncomfortable with your belly!

NamechangeJunebaby · 06/05/2025 19:24

I think you look beautiful! Well done on the weight loss.

It’s also about how it makes you feel - if you feel good in it you’ll wear it with confidence, and that confidence will make you look so much more sparkly too!

jjeoreo · 06/05/2025 19:25

I think it could be stylish but it could be frumpy depending on the rest of you. How old are you?

Impostersyndicate · 06/05/2025 19:27

Turmerictolly · 06/05/2025 18:33

A side view would be useful. It looks a little tight.

It looks tight because she's grabbing it and pulling it tight around her belly. It looks fine in the first picture.

Just wear the dress. You're a long time dead.

Changeyourlifes · 06/05/2025 19:28

Is each image before and after weight loss? Or is it you at the same weight in each photo?

If it’s the same weight in each photo then return the dress. That 2nd photo is awful and so unflattering
