Am I the only one who just doesn't get the hype surrounding Crocs and clog type shoes??

I just think they are so damned ugly and I am probably going to get crucified on here by the croc lovers 😂

I just don't get it 🤔

Tell me what is so special about them?

Sending up the @boiledbeetle signal.
I don't have proper crocs, they don't have enough arch support for me, but I wear their flipflops in the summer instead of slippers.

PonyPatter44 · 06/05/2025 22:26

I swore I'd never ever wear Crocs... then I got some. They are brilliant for doing the gardening, and for nipping out to the bin. Even i won't go out in public wearing them, though.

853ax · 06/05/2025 22:31

Ugly yes
But my children got them recently I pop them on going out bins or around house can't get over how comfortable they are thinking about a pair instead of flip flops for summer

IridaceaeFloribunda · 06/05/2025 22:44

My kids got me some for a laugh as I hate them so much. I do wear them to go in the garden but good grief they are so uncomfortable, they really aggravate my plantar faciitis if I wear them for long.

RedToothBrush · 06/05/2025 22:47

I take your crocs and raise you.

Uggs are hideous and make people who wear them walk badly.

Mrscharlieeeee · 06/05/2025 22:51

They’re hideous absolutely. But on day 5 of a Disney world holiday they are an absolute godsend. Practical, so comfortable, waterproof and lightweight. I have zero shame lol

helpmepleasewiththis · 06/05/2025 22:59

I hate how they look but sometimes they are all that I can wear. I even got married in mine. I have had a partial amputation of my foot which means that it’s affected how I walk and as I have no pad of fat on the ball of my foot walking can be painful. I can go months where I don’t need to wear them, but then the skin will break down if I’ve walked too much and I’m back to having my foot dressed every week and to wearing the crocs. I work with young people and often get compliments about my clothes, style etc and take care of my appearance. I can just about tolerate having to wear crocs now and again. But I really really wish that people would fuck the fuck off when they start another crocs hating thread!

coxesorangepippin · 06/05/2025 22:59

Very comfortable tho

Bigfatsunandclouds · 06/05/2025 23:04

Dragonfly97 · 06/05/2025 11:54

You're right, I can't stand them either. I'm nearly 60 and like comfort, but I can't bring myself to wear them. I wear Hotter shoes which can be a bit frumpy, but Crocs are in another league!

I always said this, until I decided to try them as they were very cheap in a sale and my God, I love them, so comfortable!!!

endofthelinefinally · 06/05/2025 23:25

I wear my crocs swift water slip on sandals all through the summer. They last for years and are very comfortable. They are excellent for holidays and travelling. Easy to wash. I have 4 pairs that I have had for 6 years - different colours, 1 pair for indoors. All remain as good as new.

WetBandits · 06/05/2025 23:28

Crocs are delightful to wear. So comfy!

I don’t like clogs, especially the Birkenstock ones. They look like medieval peasant shoes Grin

jazzybelle · 07/05/2025 00:33

cardibach · 06/05/2025 14:29

I disagree.

And that's just fine!

IcePoleQueen · 07/05/2025 00:37

CROCS ARE LIFE! 🙌

That is all.

LBFseBrom · 07/05/2025 00:50

andweallloveclover · 06/05/2025 11:56

Are they really? Because they don't even look like they would be comfortable. I wear flip flops instead of slippers in the summer months but I see all my neighbours out and about in their gardens in their crocs and I just think 'Why?' 😂

They are very comfortable and functional. As you've said, your neighbours wear clogs in the garden. Surely that is sensible.

Incidentally I cannot remember ever looking at neighbours' feet in their back gardens.

Wow, sorry my thread touched a nerve. For what its worth I have been on MN a while now and not seen another crocs thread.

It was meant as a lighthearted thread as it baffled me why people wear them. Thankfully the majority of people have taken it as such. No need to be so rude.

You are being unreasonable. Winkle pickers are by far the ugliest, most ridiculous footwear ever. Still see the odd young estate agent wearing them. Oh, and moccasins. In fact, they're probably worse.

Winklepickers!! Yes absolutely agree.

Crocs are fab and croc flip flops are even better

I don’t think they are comfortable at all!

Menobaby79 · 07/05/2025 09:24

I always used to think this. I used to be a receptionist in a dentist. They all wore the white crocs as part of their uniform (NHS) and we all used to laugh about how hideous they look.
Anyway, me 3 years later and I'm absolutely loving my pink tie dye fleece lined crocs, they're like outdoor slippers, the cosiest shoes I've ever had!
I think they probably do look awful though to others but I'm past caring, I'm not trying to make a fashion statement. But I do know my high heel loving sister would never be caught dead in them. 😂

LBFseBrom · 07/05/2025 09:41

I think they are sensible for people like nurses, including dental surgery assistants (and receptionists), who are on their feet so much. I presume those are the 'they' to whom you refer.

It really is not nice to laugh at what other people wear (or at things they eat sometimes), it displays stupidity alongside gossip, not uncommon amongst gossipy people who have little else to occupy their minds.

Wishing14 · 07/05/2025 10:00

Agree, very cute on kids. Young people can sometimes get away with it. Awful on anyone else!

KnittyNell · 07/05/2025 10:04

I wear them, I love them and couldn’t care less what anyone else thinks about them.
Join me in your Crocs jubilation people. 😄

crocs are only the greatest and most stylish shoe known to man GIF by State Champs

I love my lilac crocs, I wear them all the time, they are so easy to change out of and in to when I'm dog walking as I keep my boots in the van. I know I look a right tramp after a walk and I go the shops on route home but I'm comfy 😂

Go get a pair @andweallloveclover xx

Fedupcreative86 · 07/05/2025 12:56

I won't be seen dead in them, don't care how comfy they are. So sick of seeing teenage girls wearing them with socks too, which is a strange new trend as crocs always screamed "geek" or "frumpy mum" to me. I'm quite vain and care a lot about how i look, though. Style over comfort every time for me. Only trainers I'll wear and have are converse and superga.
