Am I the only one who just doesn't get the hype surrounding Crocs and clog type shoes??

I just think they are so damned ugly and I am probably going to get crucified on here by the croc lovers 😂

I just don't get it 🤔

Tell me what is so special about them?

Are they really? Because they don't even look like they would be comfortable. I wear flip flops instead of slippers in the summer months but I see all my neighbours out and about in their gardens in their crocs and I just think 'Why?' 😂

Because flip flops have no arch support and give me blisters between my toes. Try having plantar fasciitis and then see if you still hate crocs!

InfoSecInTheCity · 06/05/2025 12:14

Yo are not wrong, they are very ugly and clunky, although they do some nice looking summer sandal styles. The reason I have multiple pairs is that they are just so fucking comfortable, it totally makes up for the fact that they look crap. I have fur lined ones for cold days and sandals for the beach and unlined ones for wandering around the garden, I even have a pair of snow boots which have mega grip and are really warm.

Needlesnah · 06/05/2025 12:15

I can’t stand crocs but I recently bought a pair of sheepskin clogs from a Yorkshire company and omg I am in love! I didn’t think I would like them (bought for practical reasons) but I absolutely do.

Oh god I had plantar fasciitis many years ago and it was excruciating. I feel for you.

I don't care how they look, they are comfy and so useful. Perfect for the just going out in the garden or for when I go down to the lake for a swim, or to the beach. Doesn't matter if they get wet, can walk right in the water with them on, and they dry quickly. I always take mine with me when we go on holiday.

Dragonfly97 · 06/05/2025 12:25

Noworklifebalance I wouldn't class Hotter shoes and Crocs the same; there are definitely nice biker style boots I've had from them, and sandals. Crocs I think are like slippers, just for round the house & garden. Hotter have had some really nice styles.

Actually I can get why they would be good for the beach and be useful for being able to go in and out of the sea and walk on the sand. Food for thought 🤔

I love crocs as you can tell.

Go to style and beauty -some bloody ugly sandals to be horrified about too! I mean, they are pretending to be nice. At least crocs make no such claim!

GetMeOutOfHere20 · 06/05/2025 12:40

Cos they’re comfortable and who cares lol

andweallloveclover · 06/05/2025 12:45

I wish I didn't. I'm not even that vain but for some reason I can't bring myself to put any of them on my feet 😂

I love my clogs - they're not Crocs, I really don't like those.

Mine are black leather with a sturdy rubber sole (El Naturalista Yggdrasil clogs) and I call them my "ugly shoes" because they are. But I don't care 😛14 years on and still fabulous.

isitmeamithedrama · 06/05/2025 12:50

Ugly as sin but so comfortable
i vowed iD never own a pair but I now have 2

Duckswaddle · 06/05/2025 12:53

They are very ugly but sooo fucking comfortable 😬😬😬

Seamond · 06/05/2025 12:58

I wear them on the caravan site for the showers and stuff like that, also in the garden. They wash easily if they get muddy, bit like welly's really

What do you mean by 'special'? No kinds of shoes are special. They are just different styles, which some people like and some don't. Crocs I wear around the house as I'm prone to plantar fasciitis, not because I like them. Clogs are lovely. I've just ordered a pair of Birkenstock ones.

Seamond · 06/05/2025 13:01

They were also handy when I sprained my foot and it swelled up, I did have to wear them for work for a couple of weeks then as they were the only thing I could safely wear.

crockofshite · 06/05/2025 13:01

It's all about the comfort.

Peridot1 · 06/05/2025 13:09

@Comtesse - Fitflop do great flip flops with arch support. As do a brand called Archie’s. I had plantar fasciitis a few years ago and find the Fitflop flip flops great. They look a bit like Haivannas. I’m wearing Archie’s slides at the moment and they are really comfortable but I prefer Fitflop flip flop over the Archie’s ones.

PolitePoster · 06/05/2025 13:13

They are definitely ugly, but they are so comfortable and easy to slip on for going out into the garden, or on the beach!
I have 3 pairs, one pair furlined, but swore I'd only wear them in the house. A knee injury a few months ago put paid to that, as my Crocs were the only shoes I could wear!

PomegranateVase · 06/05/2025 13:14

@andweallloveclover

I could’ve written this post myself!

I utterly detest them and cannot see the appeal whatsoever. My children wear them and adorn them with croc charms, and my husband wears crocs too and even buys limited edition versions. They wear them everywhere!

I have heard so many times how comfortable they are, so one day decided to try a pair on to see if I could then understand somewhat - but they were incredibly uncomfortable and unsupportive!

I’ll never understand these or Uggs.

emmatherhino · 06/05/2025 13:14

They're ugly as hell but I love them - they're comfortable. I don't wear them out most of the time other than for the beach or if I'm doing school run and not getting out of the car, but days on the beach where we have to walk across a rocky bit to get to the sand, they're perfect

ItGhoul · 06/05/2025 13:15

They're not meant to look pretty.

TaggieO · 06/05/2025 13:15

Oh they are hideously ugly. But they are incredibly comfortable.

Seamond · 06/05/2025 13:17

They were originally made for boating and sailing.
